Help with Dreamweaver centering website

Help please,
I have created my first website with Dreamweaver 8.02 and now
I need to center it into the center of the page. But I do not know
how. The web is 700wide x 500 high and the address is:
www.amandastraussdesigns.com Please help. I don’t know how to
fix this.

Help with Font on website

Hi Guys,
I'm having a little problem with a website, the soloution is probably really simple but cant for the life of me figure it out.

In my html the above is under the div tag "main" and the css for h1 is calibri font and it shows this in dreamweaver. Whenever I use live view, or preview in browser, or have it uploaded as it is now the font reverts back to times new roman and black in colour.

Need Help with Dreamweave MX!

Hello all!
I'm an artist and I'm putting my new website together but I'm
stuck on something. I have 3 order forms that are all .doc files.
How do I make a link in Dreamweaver so when the person clicks on
the link... they download those forms? I did it once but it was a
long time ago and I forgot how. Don't talk to me like I'm some kind
of HTML expert. ;) I suck with HTML. If you can use simple easy
instructions I'd appreciate it. :) I'm not very experienced with
Dreamweaver.

Help with an existing website

i created this site about 15 years ago. it has since been maintained by someone else, and now it's back in my lap. I used a different program to design it then and i'm heck'a rusty at the whole thing.

I require help with my first website

As you can see from many of my recent posts, I am new to web development, and I have decided that I am going to need some help.
This forum has been a huge help, and I will continue using it, but the reality of the situation is that progress is slow as I am learning as I go, each junction I reach and require help with is holding up progress, which wouldn't be a problem if I had more spare time, but I simply don't.
Is anybody willing to help me? It would be paid work so I would need to discuss how this would work with rates etc... here are some details:

My site will initially not be quite as established as Jaspal's, but in essence the functionality will be similar. The things I know of that I will need help on are:
Setting up the ordering and payment process when a customer wants to order a print, including automated email notifications, and check out forms ( this may also require membership fields or maybe through paypal)

Potentially helping to setup a blog
Work with me on integration - and updates (ie build the all the templates needed so updates and new images can be posted by myself easily)

Along with these points I will also need standby help with the code I am directly working on, so file sharing may have to be setup. It is also worth noting that I will supply all the graphics and the design elements for every page, I will also be very specific with briefs as I know exactly what I want to achieve.
If anybody is interested please send me a private message, I would need to see some examples of your experience, details on your availability and your rate - whether thats per day, per hour and a rough estimate on how long you think the work will take.
Also, if anybody knows somebody outside this forum that you think could help me then please also forward this on.

What you are basically after is a tutor, to guide you in what you are doing. In this respect it may be worth your while to read-up on designing web pages,as after a quick glance of the code, (from your previous post regarding the background image ) the main problem you are having is that you are not 'implementing' a consistent design/development procedure.

Need some quick help with redoing a website

Hi, I did my website done in iWeb in 2008, published it, and have it hosted by GoDaddy. I want to take it offline for now and design a new 'under construction' site, but there is a chance that I might want to still go back to the original version.
I see the current 'Domain' in Home Folder>Library>Application Support>iWeb.
Can I just redo my site (still working in pre-2008 iWeb), publish it, and if I need to, use the old 'Domain' to revert to my current website?
If yes, how do I do that....and, if 'no', what should I do?

I published the website in iWeb and it is on my MobleMe. It was done in iWeb v 1.1.2, and I have not upgraded iLife on the computer that I designed the website on, as I feared losing some/all of it in an upgrade.
I do, however, pay GoDaddy for my corporate URL AND hosting....which I suspect is the forwarding and not 'hosting' per se....but on my Hosting account on GoDaddy it does say 'Shared Hosting'.
I do not want to 'overwrite' my current site just yet, as I am uncertain about the next one's content or the time to do it the way I envision it. What I want to do is SAVE my current site in case I want it back and, in the meantime, put up a page that says Under Construction. Can you help with that?

I think I know the cause of the program though. I was trying
to install some extensions using the extension manager. After I
launched Dreamweaver after installing the extensions, the problem
started.
I have the extensions that I was trying to install if that
would help.
I would really like someone to help me with this problem.
Please tell me if you don't think this is the correct forum to post
it in.
Maybe it is Apple's fault.

Hi all
Would like some help with Dreamweavers Flash image viewer.
Everything is working properly except when i try to link a picture, and have set the imagelinkTarget value to _blank the link always navigates away from my site and does not open in a new window.
I have tried all the values for the imageLinkTarget and nothing works..

I just googled and found lots of folks with the same problem. One fellow wrote this as a soluton:
"All you have to do is
remove the values from the imageLinks in the flash element. That
should fix it."

Need help with Dreamweaver 8

We are a church who uses AltoMP3 Gold, Macromedia Dreamweaver and GoDaddy.com to upload our sermons to our website as well as offer access to Itunes subscribers. We have used this system for years now and everything has worked great except for some problems with GoDaddy last year. However, we just discovered that Itunes subscribers cannot get any of our 2014 podcasts. The sermons can be accessed from our website, just not through Itunes. As far as I know, the coding has not been changed from the original design, except for the weekly updates as to name of MP3 file, dates, etc. Can you help me figure out why the access to sermons stopped for Itunes beginning in 2014? I am not a programmer, just a volunteer with limited knowldge. Thank you

Help with Dreamweaver CS5 spry menus. Menu is not dropping down in IE7.

Hello.
We recently upgraded from GoLive CS3 to Dreamweaver CS5. Wow! This has been a big change for us. We are having trouble with a website that we are building, specifically the Spry Menu drop downs not appearing correctly in IE7 and older. While the dropdown menu appears in other browsers, it is not dropping down at all in IE7 and earlier versions. After researching this topic on many websites, including this forum, we are still unable to resolve our particular issue. We have tried many of the suggestions that are common to our problem, but have not found a solution as yet. Could someone please check out this page for us, and possibly give us some advise. We are working on Mac OSX. Thank you in advance for any suggestions you may offer.

When I added the following to the document
<style>
#main_image {position:static;}
</style>
the menu items appeared albeit in the wrong position.
The reason for the hidden menu items is because #main_image had a position of relative, effectively creating a flow of its own rather than following the natural flow of the document.
Now for the postion of the submenu. If I add the following style rules to the document the submenu items are in the correct position
ul.MenuBarHorizontal li {text-align: left;}
ul.MenuBarHorizontal a {text-align: center;}
In the first line I have reset the rule that you had changed to center align and in the second line (which is not in the original CSS) I have aligned the text in the anchor tag to align center.
The reason is that IE<8 behaves differently to other browsers when it comes to list items causing the nested list items (submenu) to align themselves to the center of the text of the parent list item.
I hope the above helps.

It's an error on the Adobe server. It's been like that for a
couple of
days. I'm surprised it hasn't been fixed. I'll see if I can

Noob needs help with dreamweaver- problem encountered

This is the website i am trying to create. It is not
complete, but on Safari it looks fine. When i open it on firefox,
it gets all messed up and i dont know how to change it. It
initially gets messed up on dreamweaver when i add links o
different slices. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

creating/manipulating images.
Period. The HTML they spew is second-rate at best.

Help with building dynamic website using tutorial (was: I know this is a repost but I'm still stuck!)

Perhaps this was missed by the group but here goes:
I am slogging thru a dynamic PHP tutorial but I cant continue without losing some understanding of the process due to ?
I am trying to complete the following:
Building your first dynamic website – Part 2: Developing the back end
However,
my Insert record form dialog (below) looks like this, and I need to change both 'title' and 'blog_entry' values (as shown above), but I cannot make that choice in my form.
I am using DW CC with the Deprecated Server Behavior from DMX zone.
I have made sure my results match the tutorial, but I cant get past the above inconsistency in functionality.
Any help would be appreciated.

The Columns area indicates which form field is used to insert a value in each column. Although the post_id and updated columns are listed as getting no value, their values are generated automatically by the database.
Check that the title and blog_entry columns are being assigned the correct values. If either is marked as getting no value, it means that you have spelled the names of the form fields differently from the column names. Correct this by selecting the column name in the Columns area and selecting the form field's name from the Value pop-up menu.

In desperate help with Dreamweaver Forms

I am looking to create a textfield within my form for viewers to enter a certain phrase or code to enable them to view my next page on my website. In other words, I am creating a simple game on dreamweaver were viewers have to enter a code within a textfield in order to view the next page once submitted. How can I tell dreamweaver what the word or code is for viewers to enter?? This code would have to be entered correctly, otherwise they would not be able to view the lext page (level 2). I have tried using spry validation but cannot seem to figure it out. Please if someone can help me i would be very grateful.

php will do this quiet easily if you can use it? A simple example of the code/form is below:
Copy code and paste into a new Dreamwaever document and save it as next_level.php The page sends the information collected via the form back to itself. If the person enters the correct code in this case 12345 they get taken to www.bbc.co.uk if they enter the wrong code they get a failure message. You can alter all of the above i.e., code and url to go to in the code below.
You can either use this locally if you have php set up or upload it to your server if it runs php.

HELP With Dreamweaver Contact Page

I what I want to do is once the user fills in the form like the attachment. The user clicks the submit button and then a "contact us" webpage opens in the browser and their name and stuff populates a regular contact us webpage made like this http://dreamweaverspot.com/adobe-dreamweaver-tutorial-contact-forms/ is what I am following. In the attachment have the user enter their name (John Doe) and click a done button and have John Doe appear on the Dreamweaver form. Then use something like formmail.php so when the user clicks send email their info is already entered and all they have to do is click the button

I don't use GoDaddy but the comments below the tutorial did seem to indicate that there were problems with email.
GoDaddy is a very good registrar. I, personally would not recommend them for hosting, having on numerous occasions seen clients and potential clients with websites that did not load, loaded slowly, seemed to not work and so on. If they're limiting what you can do with php (or any server-side code) without making a clear alternative for you, then they're too limited to use for a website. And that comment is not aimed at GoDaddy, it's aimed at any web hosting provider that limits their clients in some way that makes websites not work.
If you know ASP or ColdFusion a web host that does not provide that kind of support is not for you.
I would mention that you can create a complete form without doing any programming for a web host that supports php on the formmailmaker.com website. You can also find good php code in all sorts of places that will make just about anything you need.
And if you're still stuck, you can hire someone to do that kind of work.
