Help with: java.sql.SQLIntegrityConstraintViolationException
Hi, guys
I need help with the following exception: java.sql.SQLIntegrityConstraintViolationException: The statement was aborted because it would have caused a duplicate key value in a unique or primary key constraint or unique index identified by 'SQL090403155751200' defined on 'BOOK_ORDER'.
the things is my primary key is unique, so i checked the indexes and i found that i have two 'SQL090403155751200' indexes.
I would like to know:
1. can i delete the index without causing further database problems
2. what causes this problem and how can i avoid it.
By the way im using netbeans 6.5 and derby databaserizza_99 wrote:

By understanding what the application/system is supposed to be doing and the correctly creating indexes on the database that reflect the business needs.
Once you do that then the nature of the indexes that are needed are obvious.
You certainly don't delete indexes without that understanding however. -
Hi all
i want to know whether java.sql package will be automatically installed when i install jdk1.5 otherwise i have to install is separately with java 3.0api for that package. plzzzz any body help me regd this.You'll need to put an oracle driver somewhere in your class path. If you don't already have an Oracle jdbc driver, then you can download one here:

Getting java.sql package.
Hi, I need to download the java.sql package in order to connect to an Oracle database. Pl. suggest me a url where I could the above. (Searching sun's website yeilded only the doc files, ".html", which are for reference purpose. I am working on Apache with Oracle 8i as my database installed on Oracle 9i Applciation Server)
Any suggestions or advise or clues would be a great source of help. Thankyou!
Amit.the java.sql package has been part of java since 1.1 at least. so it is fairly safe to assume that if you have the jdk you have java.sql
any decent zip/archive program can look in and extract the files in a a jar file.
you do not need to touch this however. what you need is to get the JDBC driver for Oracle.
you can get that here...

Need Info Regarding Implementaion of Interfaces in java.sql package
Hi All,
I am interested in knowing details abt how the Interfaces in the java.sql package are implemented. We all work with the database using the interfaces provided ,but how do they work at the backend ? How can a Interface provide details (work ) with out an implementation class.I Is this taken care by the JVM or some of the Call level interfaces? Please do provide details abt this..hi Sheshadri,
The implementation of the various interfaces in
java.sql package are provided by your jdbc driver,
which also manages the connection and communication of
your java program with the appropriate database.

Help on java.sql.Types class
Hai Friends ,
I want some help on java.sql.Types class .
What is the use of the above class ?
Some details about this class.Good Morning Yekesa
First of all i would like to thank U for looking into my problem.
I am using java.sql.Types.OTHER for
{"?=CALL(storedprocedurename.functionname(?))"}
registerOutParameter(1,javal.sql.Types.OTHER)
setString(2,"user")
here the
second parameter passes an argument to function name ( viz. username say "user")
and the function will return the ref cursor as follows:
// declaration in pl/sql procedure
begin
rc ref cursor
open rc for select * from ss_user where login_name="user";
return rc;
end
now the stored procedure has a return value (i.e. stored function) which it needs to register as
registerOutParameter(1,javal.sql.Types.OTHER)
and it finally results in the following errors :
Loading driver
Before conn stmt
After conn stmt
Calling Stored procedure
Stored procedure called
java.sql.SQLException: Invalid column type
at oracle.jdbc.dbaccess.DBError.check_error(DBError.java:243)
at oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleStatement.get_internal_type(OracleStatement.java:2487)

at oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleCallableStatement.registerOutParameter(OracleCallableStatement.java:54)
at sptest.<init>(sptest.java:28)
at sptest.main(sptest.java:49)
T couldn't understand why it is saying Invalid Column Type because its working fine with both
java.sql.Types.INTEGER
and
java.sql.Types.VARCHAR
Pl help me at the earliest as i have wasted a lot of time on it.
pl mail me in detail at [email protected]
bye then

PI File adapter has a processing option u2018Empty-Message Handlingu2019 to ignore or Write Empty Files. In case there is no data created after mapping on target side then this option determines whether to write an empty file or not. But there is a catch to this option when it comes to using it with File Content Conversion which is described in SAP Note u2018821267u2019. It states following:
I configure the receiver channel with File content conversion mode and I set the 'Empty Message Handling' option to ignore. Input payload to the receiver channel is generated out of mapping and it does not have any record sets. However, this payload has a root element. Why does file receiver create empty output file with zero byte size in the target directory? Example of such a payload generated from mapping is as follows:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<ns1:test xmlns:ns1="http://abcd.com/ab"></ns1:test>
solution :
If the message payload is empty (i.e., zero bytes in size), then File adapter's empty message handling feature does NOT write files into the target directory. On the other hand, if the payload is a valid XML document (as shown in example) that is generated from mapping with just a root element in it, the File Adapter does not treat it as an empty message and accordingly it writes to the target directory. To achieve your objective of not writing files (that have just a single root element) into the target directory, following could be done:
Using a Java or ABAP Mapping in order to restrict the creation of node itself during mapping. (This cannot be achieved via Message Mapping)
Using standard adapter modules to do content conversion first and then write file.
can someone help with java mapping that can be used in this case?Hi,
You have not mentioned the version of PI you are working in. In case you are working with PI 7.1 or above then here is the java mapping code you need to add after message mapping in the same interface mapping

The code for PI 7.0 should also work for PI 7.1 provided you use the right jar files for compilation, but vice-versa is not true.
Could you please let us know if this code was useful to you or not?

Help with an SQL Query on the Logger
We are running UCCE 8.5(3) and need help with an SQL query. When I run the below I would also like to see skill group information(name preferably)? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
select * from dbo.t_Termination_Call_Detail where DateTime between '10-11-2012 00:00:00:00' and
'10-11-2012 23:59:59:59'David, thanks for replying. Unfortunitly I don't know enough about SQL to put that into a query and have it return data. Would you be able to give an example on what the query would look like?

At first I thought maybe this is a configuration specific problem -- but I was able to replicate this on two separate machine with clean Win2K and Oracle9i installs.
It seems like it is not finding a particular class, which leads me to believe that some particular jar is probably missing -- can anyone help me figure out which one? Or is there something else that may be going wrong?
TIAYou need to make sure you're using the Oracle9i JDBC driver, or using the Oracle 8.1.7.2 JDBC driver as I mentioned above.
If you are using JDeveloper9i release 9.0.2 or 9.0.3, the driver you need is in <jdevhome>\jdbc\lib
Otherwise, you can also download the drivers from OTN. -
Need help with MS SQL server JDBC driver
Anyone has experience getting ACS working with SQL2005? We keep getting ‘com.adobe.adept.persist.DatabaseException: java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver’
We’re using sqljdbc.jar and sqljdbc4.jar that downloaded from Microsoft website. We added this to every library folder under tomcat, JRE and SDK but it did not help. Any suggestion will be helpful.
Thanks-Hi,
We have ACS with SQL Server 2005 Std correctly working.
We have this settings:
############ SQL Server Connection ############
com.adobe.adept.persist.sql.driverClass=com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
com.adobe.adept.persist.sql.connection=jdbc:sqlserver://ip-addressSQL:PortSQL;databaseName =Adept
com.adobe.adept.persist.sql.dialect=microsoft
com.adobe.adept.persist.sql.user=userSQL
com.adobe.adept.persist.sql.password=passSQL
Wi use Microsoft SQL Server JDBC Driver 3.0 downloaded from Microsoft website (http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=21599)
Good luck, -
I need help with compiling different packages
I've just downloaded j2sdk1.4.0_03 and when i use
import TerminalIO.KeyboardReader;
it says : package TerminalIO does not exist;
and it also has a problem with KeyboardReader.
Please help me!The TerminalIO is not part of standard java classes. Some one must have given that to you, or needs to give it to you. It might be in a jar file. Without knowing what/where the TerminalIO package is, it is difficult to help you.
If the package is in a jar, then you need to include the jar in your Classpath when you compile. If it is not in a jar, then the directory that contains the TerminalIO directory needs to be in the Classpath.

Hi all,
In the middle of the last week for my final year project and having to convert to an Oracle database due to compatibility problems with university Tomcat Server and MS Access. I'm having trouble connecting to the Oracle database and would appreciate some help please.
Running on Windows 98 in the lab here, and the Oracle 9i, release 9.2.0.2.0, J2SDK1.4.0, Classes12.zip installed OK.
Code for connection looks like this inside the constructor of my class:
Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
cardSaleConnexion = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:[email protected]:1521:sid","user_name","pwdt");
System.out.println("Connection Successful ");
And I'm getting the following error when calling the constructor in a driver program:

Database Driver
This section describes the known database driver issues and associated solutions.
ID Summary
4700531 On Solaris, an ORACLE JDBC driver error occurs.
This new Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) driver is for Oracle (R) working with JDK1.4. The problem is caused by a combination of the Oracle 9.1 database and ojdbc14.jar. Applying the patch will fix the problem on Solaris 32-bit machine, running an Oracle 9.0.1.3 database.
Solution
Obtain and apply the patch to your server from the Oracle Web site for Bug 2199718. Perform the following steps:
1.Go to the Oracle web site.
2.Click the 'patches' button.
3.Type 2199718 in the patch number field.
4.Click the 32-bit Solaris OS patch.Go to Metalink.oracle.com.
5.Click patches.
6.Under patch number, enter 2199718.
7.Click the 32 bit Solaris OS patch.
4707531 On Solaris, accessing an Oracle 9.1 database with an Oracle 9.2 Client may cause data corruption.
If you use an Oracle (R) 9.2 client to access an Oracle 9.1 database, data corruption might occur when a number column follows a timestamp column.
The problem might be caused by using the ojdbc14.jar file with an Oracle 9.1 database. Applying the patch might assist in addressing the situation on Solaris 32-bit machines, running an Oracle 9.1 database. This JDBC driver is for Oracle working with JDK1.4.
Solution
Obtain the patch that Oracle might make available from the Oracle web site for Bug 2199718 and apply it to your server.

If so, I feel this may better answer the OPs question.

Newbie - need help with a SQL query for a bar chart
Hi,
I'm a new user on APEX with no real SQL knowledge and I'm trying to build a dashboard with charts into an existing APEX application. Based on another application, I have come up with the following SQL code:
select null link
, CATEGORY label
, count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'1',PROJECT_ID))"Active"
, count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'2',PROJECT_ID))"Complete"
, count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'3',PROJECT_ID))"On Hold"
, count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'4',PROJECT_ID))"Pipeline"
, count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'5',PROJECT_ID))"Pending Review"
from GRAPO_PROHEADTRK
where (PROJECT_STATUS='1' or PROJECT_STATUS='2' or PROJECT_STATUS='3' or PROJECT_STATUS='4' or PROJECT_STATUS='5' or PROJECT_STATUS='6')
group by CATEGORY
Order by COUNT(PROJECT_ID) DESC
The code from the other app was:
select null link
, FUNCTIONAL_AREA label
, count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'Active',PROJECT_ID))"Active"
, count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'Complete',PROJECT_ID))"Complete"
, count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'On Hold',PROJECT_ID)) "On Hold"
, count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'Recurring',PROJECT_ID))"Recurring"
, count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'Pipeline',PROJECT_ID))"Pipeline"
, count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'Not Approved',PROJECT_ID))"Not Approved"
from PM_V2
where LOB='S2S' and (FUNCTIONAL_AREA='Accounts Payable' or FUNCTIONAL_AREA='Expense' or FUNCTIONAL_AREA='Procurement' or FUNCTIONAL_AREA='Fixed Assets')
group by FUNCTIONAL_AREA
Order by COUNT(PROJECT_ID) DESC
I'm getting a "Failed to parse SQL query!" error when I try to run validation.
Is this enough info for some assistance? Any help would really be appreciated.
Thanks,
RachelHello,
This is more of an SQL question, rather than specifically APEX-related. It's notable that you say: I'm a new user on APEX with no real SQL knowledgeWhich is fine (we all have to start somewhere, afterall) but it might be worth de-coupling the problem from APEX in the first instance. I'd also strongly recommend either taking a course, reading a book (e.g. http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=r5vbGgz7TFsC&printsec=frontcover&dq=Mastering+Oracle+SQL&hl=en#v=onepage&q=Mastering%20Oracle%20SQL&f=false) or looking for a basic SQL tutorial - it will save you a whole lot of heartache, I promise you. Search the oracle forums for the terms "Basic SQL Tutorial" and you should come up with a bunch of results.
Given that you've copied your query template from another, I would suggest ensuring that the actual query works first of all. Try running it in either:
* SQL Editor
* SQL*Plus
* an IDE like SQL Developer (available free from the OTN: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/downloads/index.html ) or TOAD or similar.
You may find there are syntax errors associated with the query - it's difficult to tell without looking at your data model.
select null link
, CATEGORY label
, count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'1',PROJECT_ID))"Active"
, count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'2',PROJECT_ID))"Complete"
, count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'3',PROJECT_ID))"On Hold"
, count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'4',PROJECT_ID))"Pipeline"
, count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'5',PROJECT_ID))"Pending Review"
from GRAPO_PROHEADTRK
where (PROJECT_STATUS='1' or PROJECT_STATUS='2' or PROJECT_STATUS='3' or PROJECT_STATUS='4' or PROJECT_STATUS='5' or PROJECT_STATUS='6')
group by CATEGORYNote that your "order by" clause references a field called "PROJECT_ID", which exists in the old query but you've changed other similar references to "PROJECT_STATUS" - is it possible you've just missed this one? The perils of copy-paste coding I'm afraid...
