Help with QT Reference Movie

Because I moved from using Sony Vegas to FCP, I didn't keep the SD card structure intact. I only kept the .mts files. Because of this, I used ClipWrap to convert to Apple ProRes 422 LT. I imported this footage into FCP and put it on the timeline and used PluralEyes to sync. I wanted to create a QT Reference Movie of V1, but for some reason, FCP wants to render out the entire track completely (over 46 gb) instead of just making a reference movie. Why is this? But does that match your Sequence settings in FCP? Frame rate? Pixel dimensions? If any settings don't match, or when you've applied effects to the clips in the Timeline, FCP will render the Sequence and those renders will become part of the Reference movie.
Render the Sequence fully before you export and the resulting reference file will be much smaller in size.

FCP 7 issue with exporting reference movie?

I've used FCP 6 to export reference movies -- no problem. Now, using FCP 7.0.3 , I can't seem to export a reference movie period. On old projects, where I've done reference movies, no luck. On newer ones created in FCP 7, I render everything -- I mean everything, no luck. The 'not self-contained box' is unchecked. I even tried making a brand new project, importing a 10 second clip requiring no rendering. FCP still won't export a reference movie; it keeps making a regular movie clip. I really need this function to make DVDs. Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?

First, let me correct myself regarding the QT reference movie. My movies show a poster frame rather than a preview as I mentioned in my previous post.
It's important that all of the items from the Sequence menu are checked.

Help with multiple flash movies in same website

I'm trying to create a website in dreamweaver. I created the
artwork in fireworks. a slice of it i exported to flash to create
rolling clouds over the background. i also want in the same swf
file a screen for my main content. ( I used a scrollPane component
that works nice. But for each button on my web menu (home,
schedule, ect...), I want to be able to put new content in my
scrollPane. My buttons don't reside in my flash movie. Do I need to
create a new movie for each web page?
I'm not sure how to procede.
Can anybody help?

It seems that when you import an external flash movie into
Captivate 1, the full path is...
"_level0.slide0__image_mc.s0_i9_swf_mc.m_swf_mc"
...this was the start of the solution for my problem so I
thought it best to post in case it helps out anyone else.
BTW - The slide number changes (obviously) and so does the
'i' reference depending on the attributes you have given to your
imported movies.

Help with QT 360 Mov files.. (active X)

I make 360 tours for realestate sites and now im getting this message that says "click to run an Acitive X control on this webpage" This pop up message is new. Is it a new security download from Microsoft? Please help on getting rid of this pop up message.

I have been doing this update to all pages where I have Flash files and it has been working (method 1) but now I have a page that as a QTVR movie on it and it's just not working. Perhaps you can help me out? In your note you show an object tag with a classid, I had a look at the cod I have for my vr movie and there is no such thing, what should I do?

I am guessing I need to replace that object classid from the Macromedia stuff to something else but what.

Please help with creating QTVR movie

Hi I'm trying to create a QTVR for the first time and I'm using VR Worx.
I intend to make a drawing referring to photos and use the drawing as a single pano image for a QTVR movie.
First I decided to learn the creation process by using this Image:

I tuned the Place holder into a YouTube Video Widget, and it does display on the homepage, but it does not display as a video. It displays as a still image that the reader has to click on to access the entry and then play the video in the entry instead of playing right on the homepage.
For the multiple images, are you saying that I can only have one placeholder? I do not follow. I want multiple placeholders for multiple images throughout the single entry (ex: http://offysports.blogspot.com/2010/05/2009-10-panini-studio-basketball.html)

Can anyone help with copying a movie?

I am trying to copy my HD camcorder movie (9.5 Gb) on to a16 gb SD card. When dragging and dropping the message 'The operation cannot be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code 0). comes up.
I've also tried 'Export movie' in Imovie. When trying that, a window appears saying 'exporting movie' and runs for a while then disappears. However nothing goes to the SD card.
Can anyone out there help me please?

I'm not an expert in this forum and have no idea as to the error message but the problem lay lie in how the card is formatted. FAT16 and FAT32 are common formats for off the shelf cards but have file size limits of 2 and 4 GB respectively. They may be able to hold 16GB but an individual file is size limited unless you use a different format. If you're just using this card as a storage device for a Mac then format it to Mac extended. If you're still trying to use it with a third party device then likely those won't work with Mac extended and we'd have to have more details on what you're doing and your configuration in order to provide assistance.

Help with making a movie

alright so i have imovie hd and final cut express. i want to make a movie for my girlfreind with just pictures a while back i saw a cool one someon i used to know did were the back rounds black but pictures are coming forward from far away there all coming towards you but some go to the left or the right they dont take up the whole screen how do i go about this?

I need help with Flash Player, "movie not loaded".

Sometimes movie loads, sometimes not. Sometimes loads upon refresh, somtimes not. I cannot figure out how to get Flash to load reliably. This happens frequently while surfing the internet with IE10 on Windows 7 64bit sp. I use Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Firewall. I prefer to set pop-up blocking on high but have lowered it to medium to no avail. I have uninstalled Flash using the step by step instructions on Adobe site and reinstalled version 12.0.0.77 twice. I have unstalled and reinstalled IE 10. Clearing the catch does not help. Clicking in and out of compatability setting also does not get flash to load. I have run out of ideas. Is there some setting I am missing. Flash is on so many sites and its so unreliable it is frustrating.

Sorry, I thought I had mentioned everything. Active x filtering is off and Shockwave flash object is enabled. I have cleared the IE catch and the Flash Player catch.
I should also point out that it is not that some videos play and others do not, The same video will work sometimes and sometimes not. I go back to check and sometimes the video loads and then it doesn't again. I wondered if it had to do with different advertisers before the link played or something like that. Something is randomly happening it seems.

Help with externally loaded movie

Im kinda bad at explaining such detailed problems, but i hope
this comes out clearly.
I have two movies: a Photo-Album swf, and an Image swf.
My Photo-Album swf is very basic, and uses the loadMovie
action to load the Image swf.
My Image swf was created at 346x260. The Image swf only
contains my image, which i turned into a button that is small to
begin with, but when rolled over becomes very large (1024x768).
The problem ive run into is that when the image becomes large
it leaves its 346x260 boarders, and enters into the Photo-Album's
space.
What i eventually want to have happen is to be able to drag
the large 1024x768 image inside of the 346x260 frame.
so my final question is:
How do i keep this image inside its boarders when it becomes
larger???

Need help with Video Categories Movies, Music Videos, ETC.

Is there anyway to put ripped videos into other categories besides just Movies? I would like to put some of them under Music Videos, is that possible?

Neither Quicktime Pro or iTunes have the ability to successfully encode a muxed video file with audio. You'll end up with video and no audio.
You'll need to use some other third-party software to do the conversion. There's a handful of software available. Just search the forums and you'll find many titles mentioned.
Videora iPod Converter seems to be popular amongst Windows users, although I've read that you might get mixed results using it.

Need help with long web movie workflow!

Maybe a simple question...
Can FCP capture footage from the camcorder at a different resolution than "normal"? For example, can I capture a standard DV signal at 320x240?
Currently I am finding myself taping a lot of long government meetings where the ultimate goal is a 320x240 web based movie. What I do now is shoot the DV footage, download to the computer, and then compress to 320x240 (in FCE) but that takes forever (some of these meetings can go on for six hours). Need to have these up the next day, if possible. As a side note, if FCE can do this please tell me how!
If FCP cannot do this is there any software that can? I have tried Quicktime Broadcaster and used the saved file which works ok, but I've had some trouble with files going out of synch for no obvious reason.
Finally, if you know of a camcorder that can record to variable pixel dimensions that would be interesting too, expecially if the files where hard disk based instead of tape.

I did find a third party utility (Media Capture) that might work and I do see that Quicktime will import very small sizes. Wirecast seems seems like it will work (saving the file instead of broadcasting it) but it is $500.

Help with a Quicktime movie.

Hey all I have a 500 meg qt file that I want to put into the ipod. I know there is a deal where you have to unmuxe the audio track or what have you. It does have MPEG1 MUXED. I have tried to convert it first through itunes....it took for ever!!!! Of course...and then no audio....great so then I tried a program called mpeg stream clip. There are like 20 different options ie: demuxe to m2v to aiff, etc etc. I can't remember which one I did but after taking all night and the next half day to do it...it was wrong. There is one choice called convert to mpeg with mp2 audio... would that be it?.... I just wanna try it again one more time to get it in a format that I can work with. I even tried converting it to dvi then to imovie and of course there was no audio after it taking FOREVER!!!.
Any help would be great!!!!

Open in MPEG Streamclip.
Fix timecode errors, always. COMMAND F
Set in and out points (I sets in and O sets out) if you want and trim to selection.
Under the file menu select export to MPEG-4 (since iPod is MPEG-4, and as such since you want to export to MPEG-4 this is very wise idea).
Press the iPod (Version 1.8) or iTunes (version 1.9b3) button and select a preset for iPod or Apple TV etc.
Press go.
A search here would have revealed dozens of identical replies.
Your macs are pretty pokey especially the iMac so don't expect miraculous speeds with this.

Help with creating a movie presentation using a theme and titles

I need to make a movie for a presentation for work and wanted to use the 007 theme or mission impossible on the iPad 2 however I've been told you can only do it on a Mac.? Or can it be done on iMovie I can't work it out on iMovie can anyone put me in the right direction I have seen someone do one using the indianna jones theme with titles but again it was on a Mac thanks Gail

The VT5 is basically a switcher with greatly enhanced capabilities, so is only one step in the chain.
I am wondering if the computer, to which the VT 5 is installed/attached, can handle DivX material (CODEC) in an AVI wrapper. This will rely on that DivX CODEC being installed on the host computer.
If so, you can install the DivX CODEC on your computer and then output MS AVI, choosing the DivX CODEC in the Advanced/Encoding settings. This will result in a highly-compressed file in the AVI format. Though highly-compressed, the output quality for streaming media is very good. Note: you will not need the "Pro" version of DivX, as you will be using only the CODEC (free) and letting PrPro do the encoding for you.
Ask your instructor if the DivX CODEC will be acceptable to him/her. If so, that would be my choice for acceptable streaming quality and small file size, and it will be in the AVI "wrapper."
You did not state if you have an SD (Standard Def), or HD (High Def) Project, or I just missed that. If SD, then the next best choice would be DV-AVI Type II file, but the file size WILL be larger, at ~ 13GB / hour Duration. I would choose this, and deliver the file on an external device, like a stick, or external HDD (7200 RPM).
