Hetis Barebones System won't start

I have 2 Hetis Barebones Systems and have tried several CPU's and Ram chips but the units won't post.  They will come on but the fans run at full speed and there are no beeps nor will the video start.
The Hetis have MS 7407 Version 1 Motherboards
All of the CPU's are on the list as well as the Ram
The latest that I tried is an E8400 FSB 1333, Socket 775.  and Kingston KVR667D2N5/1G
Help

NO, these units have never worked.  They were new in boxes with security tape and straps.  They were purchased from Newegg.ca
Then I would return them both while you can, and get Newegg to replace them.

Funny, because I don't see that CPU on the support list:

Which other CPUs did you try?

  • If the system won't start at all

    I have just purchased a MSI K8Neo 2 FX S939 motherboard second hand. I have installed a AMD 64 3200+ CPU and two 256M DDR333 memory modules
and a NVIDIA 6600GT 256M DDR3 videocard on it. These components worked prior on another motherboard. Now the system won't start at all.
The following observations has been made.
    1) All fans start to spin including CPU fan videocard fan and the fan on the mb chip and the power LED lits up.
    2) Nothing else happens. No display no sound from the internal PC speaker.
    3) If I press the reset button nothing happens at all
    4) I must press the power button for several seconds to turn of the power from the system
    5) The mobo was not delivered in a ESD bag but wrapped in towels. Does that make ESD damage likely?
What conclusions can be made from that? My own opinion is that the CPU never starts working. Otherwise shouldn't there be some beep from the PC speaker when an error is detected? I have carefully checked all connections

    Q-Tec PSU.
You are wasting your and our time untill you get rid of that piece of garbage, you are lucky anything at all worked with it.
Buy a real PSU, not a wanna-be like Q-Tec. For that PC a Corsair CX400W (+12~30A) 0r VX450W (+12V~33A) would be good. If you might need more power for the future you might want to consider on of the Corsair TX series or PC P & C 610W or 750W. Whatever you do don't get a cheap PSU, get one you can depend on.
Yes I know I shouldn't ask much of a Qtec PSU but I doubt that it is the reason for this problem. Even a QTec should be able to let the speaker make a beep sound at least. My current MSI setup require rather little power. Got no PCI cards or USB units. Only one harddrive and one DVD Rom. According to the web power supply calculator I need a little bit over 200W and the PSU you suggests would be expensive

Try starting up with your Snow Leopard DVD and see if the disk can be repaired. Once you are at the installer screen go to the Utilities Menu and choose Disk Utility and choose repair disk. You might also want to try Diskwarrior.
    Hope this helps.

Need help, system won't start up
When I turn on the system I hear a loud squeaking noise that could be coming from the hard drive, it does it for moment then a blank white screen appears w/ a tiny folder in the middle of the screen with a "?" blinking on and off on the folder. I never had any problems until now. What can I do, any suggestions.

    hi capitala1,
+When I try to install the operating system to the internal drive, I don't see a destination option for that drive like I did for the external+
Do you mean that it doesn't show up when you try to startup holding down the option key, or that it doesn't show up in Disk Utility when started up on the external disk?
+...You think the drive is bad, if so, what can I do to retrieve some of the data off of it.+
Yes, it sounds like your hard drive is bad. Do you have access to techtools or Disk Warrior? either of these may be able to repair the drive enough to extract your info from it, if disk utility can't.
I know that there are shops that specialize in extracting info from bad hard drives, but they tend to be pretty expensive. I am sure others on this forum will be able to help you find one if you are interested.

  • Satellite Pro A200 - System won't start

    Hi,
was wondering if anyone could help?
My Satellite Pro A200 with windows XP won't start. It begins with the Toshiba screen.
Then goes to a black screen with text where it says "PXEE61 media test failure - check cable" (I have no cables) then says exiting PXErom; moves onto the next screen which lists options: safe mode; safe mode with networking; safe mode with communal prompt; Last known Good Configeration; start windows normally.
All of which have been tried and results in the windows loading page coming up for about 20 secs then it just gives up and tries the whole process all over again (before flashing a blue screen).
Nothing seems to work - have tried taking the battery out a number oftimes...and the power cable but to no avail.
This has happened before but after a few false starts gets going - however this time it just won't snap out of it. I could take it in to some where locally but i'd prefer not to as I'm living in Spain and need the laptop asap and not sure I want to leave it in some one else's hands at the risk of them wiping the hard drive.
I'd be so so grateful for any help asap and I'm afraid short hand tech may have to be explained.
    Many, many thanks.

    Hi
I think the problem is that the OS cannot be found on the HDD.
The PXEE61 media test failure - check cable appears mostly if the notebook tries to boot from the LAN.
Why the notebook tries to boot from the LAN?
    Well,
    - maybe the LAN option was chooses at first in the booting order in the BIOS
    - maybe the HDD is faulty and therefore the notebook tries to boot from LAN
    - maybe the MBR (master boot record) is faulty
I think you should take the Toshiba recovery CD and should format the HDD and should reinstall the OS.
    This should helps.
If not, then the HDD could malfunctions and should be replaced!

  • (MSI MPOWER Z87) System Won't Start

Hi, a month ago I built for myself a new PC with MSI MPOWER Z87 motherboard.
For a month it worked fine, but couple of days ago, when I tried to launch it nothing would work, OS doesn't start, fans not working including processor fan. All I see is power button button(on motherboard) lit, OC Switch Led lights (one red and one blue) and Clear CMOS (blue) blinking. Debug led doesn't work either. Can anyone help me to solve this problem, what problem do I have and what can I do to fix it?

HuntKey Green Power 550W     Sounds cheap and unreliable. Haswell also requires slightly different PSU than older systems did, so if possible test something like Corsair, Seasonic, Antec (and similar with GOOD quality and reputation). You could also go to local PC shop/IT services and ask for testing your system with their quality PSU.

  • System won't start - Error 0xc000014c and System Repair fails to work.

    Hi,
I am running Windows Vista Home Premium x64 on my Dell Inspiron 1520 Notebook and I had to force shut down the computer yesterday because it was unresponsive (Programs wouldn't execute, shut-down didn't work). When I turned it back on I got an error screen:
    Windows Boot Manager
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the Problem:
    1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
    2. Choose your language settings, and click "Next."
    3. Click "Repair your computer."
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.
    File: \Windows\system32\config\system
    Status: 0xc000014c
Info: Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing, or corrupt.
    ENTER=Continue           ESC=Exit
I inserted my Windows Installation disc and pressed ESC to restart, then pressed F12 and booted from the DVD-drive. I waited for the "Windows is loading files..." and "(c) Microsoft Corporation" loading bars, then clicked on "Next" at the language page and "Repair your computer" at the install Vista page. A loading box pops up "Searching for Windows installations..." and after a few minutes I can access the "System Recovery Options" box, which shows my OS. I select it and click "next", but an error message pops up saying:
    System Recovery Options
This version of system recovery options is not compatible with the version of Windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that is compatible with this version of Windows.
    [OK]
The other option at the bottom of "System Recovery Options" is "Load Drivers." If I click OK, I can see all the folders on the installation disc, and any Setup Information (*.inf) Files. I can also browse my whole drive, but I cannot open any files other than .inf. I can even navigate to my USB stick if I plug it in. I tried opening each of the .inf files that I found in "sources" which was where "Open" opened to but this happened for all of them:
    Add Drivers
The specified location does not contain information about your hardware.
    [OK]
My first question: is there an .inf file that I could download and access from the USB stick that would repair my system?
I also wanted to do a system restore, and found instructions how to burn a Vista x64 recovery disc from a downloadable iso on the HowtoGeek.com (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/). I booted from my newly burned system recovery disc, and it went through the two loading screens, and then to a black screen with the cursor. I waited here for about 20 minutes and nothing seemed to be happening, so I gave up.
My second question: How can I get the system recovery disc to work?
My initial post was on HowtoGeek.com forums:
    http://www.howtogeek.com/forum/topic/startup-error-0xc000014c-cannot-repair-or-restore-my-system?replies=2#post-50643
    And I was referred here.
Any advice is appreciated, in the mean time, I will keep trying the recovery disc to do a system restore. Maybe I just need to wait longer (Hours, days?)
    Sincerely,
    Daniel
    *EDIT
I guess I will just reinstall Windows.

    Hi Daniel,
The reason why the error message “This version of system recovery options is not compatible with the version of Windows you are trying to repair” appears can be that your Windows installation is a RTM one while Server Pack 1 is installed on you system. Therefore, your disk version is lower than your system so that you cannot use this disk to enter WinRE.
The recovery disk you created is a third-party tool which we are not familiar with. We cannot tell why it does not work on your computer. You need to contact the tool manufacturer for more information.
Now the simplest way to resolve this issue is to restore the system to its factory settings. If you have important files on the computer, please unplug the drive and install it on another computer as a slave drive. Then you can access your data on that computer. After that, you can restore the system to its factory settings. If you would like to know how to restore the system to its factory settings, please contact Dell or look up your computer manual.
    Hope it helps.

  • System won't start up after Software Update problem

I turned on the computer and ran Software Update. iTunes and others successfully updated, but there was a problem with the Quicktime update. The system required a restart to complete installations, so I did. The circle of lines was running around and around, but then blank screen and frozen cursor. I attempted to power down and restart, but to no avail. I restarted holding the Shift key and it loads up. I repaired priveledges and restarted. Still will not start up. Please, help me.

You say that "it loads up" when you start with the shift key down. I assume that you mean the system boots up okay. If so, you are successfully starting up with a Safe Boot.
According to Apple's KB article on What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?, the Safe Boot is doing the following:
    - It forces a directory check of the startup volume.
    - It loads only required kernel extensions (some of the items in /System/Library/Extensions).
    - It runs only Apple-installed startup items (some of the items in /Library/StartupItems and /System/Library/StartupItems).
The main goal of the Safe Boot is to repair the disk (filesystem) and to disable a variety of 3rd party extensions and startup items in the 3 folders listed here. Since you cannot startup normally after the Safe Boot, it seems that the disk repair did not fix the problem. So, most likely, you have some item in one of the 3 folders that is causing you trouble. Sometimes a 3rd party item is not compatible with an Apple upgrade and startup problems can occur after the upgrade.
So, a troubleshooting strategy would be to start back up in Safe Mode and then to inspect these folder for some item that looks suspicious to you. One approach is to look at 3rd party items that have been recently installed. If you find something that you suspect, drag it onto the desktop and then try to restart normally. If you are able to reboot normally, you have found the problem.
    I hope this helps.

  • [KT6-DELTA] System won't start up

I have used MSI KT6-Delta series for almost 2 years and so far there were no problem. Yesterday, my sister used the computer, but after few minutes the computer was "hang". After she restarted the system, the system cannot start up.
    - The power indicator on the casing is OFF
    - The fan of processor is ON
    - The light on my CD-Writer is ON
    - There is no output display on my monitor.
    - There is no "beep" sound.
    Any suggestions about this problem?

I had a smilar problem with this same board it was power supply related...
Please check that the HDD spins up
and that you video card is properly seated
and finally chack the speed of the CPU fan is normal... like I said I had a similar prblem and the way I knew it was the PSU that that the CPU fan was turning very slowly.
Also please make a signature like below so we can diagnosis your system better including max amps of the rails in your PSU 3.3V, 5.0V and 12V.

  • Updated Safari and Security 2008.. Operating system won't start.

HELP! I downloaded Safari and Security 2008 updates July 1st 2008 and it froze the system. I left it for 24 hours, now I reset and all I got is a white screen, folder with a question mark in it. I tried booting from the install discs but it won't do it. I also tried to verify/restore permissions and I ran first aid/repair disc but it says there are errors. It says "invalid node structure volume check failed" "error the underlying task reported failure on exit". "1HFS volume checked" "1 volume could not be repaired because of an error". No kidding, Apple destroyed my OS!
    Help?

Hello Utahmedic and Welcome to Apple Discussions ...
Usually a folder with a question mark indicates your Mac doesn't know which disk to boot from. When you say you booted from your install disks, can you please tell us exactly what you did? In order to boot from a restore disk you have to first, shut down your Mac. Now, hold down the C key, insert the restore disk and press the Power Button all at the same time. Hopefully you'll see the Apple logo on the Desktop, this can take a few minutes depending on the size of the drive. This will boot from the restore disk. An Installer window will open. Ignore that and instead go to Utilities/Startup Manager in the Menu. When that window opens select MacintoshHD 10.4.x in the panel on the left. Then click Restart...
I'm hoping you could do this. You have to run Disk Utility from your restore disk not the Disk Utility app that resides on the hard drive in the Application/ Utility folder.
If Disk Utility can't fix the errors on the volume you might consider purchasing DiskWarrior from www.alsoft.com. It does a great job of repairing disk errors.
Also, while you have Disk Utility launched with MacintoshHD selected in the panel on the left, look down on the right side of the window where it says:
Capacity and Availability. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space at all times... more if possible.

  • My System won't start. Please HELP

First of all, it does NOT power-up. Not even beeps, nothing. When I push the power-on buton the FANS slighlty move but that's all, the led of the integrated-lan flashes until I plug off the cord.
Every other component of the System is ok, I have test them all on another motherboard, a K7N2 Delta ISLR one.
A power off crash happened while I was changing some BIOS settings, that's why I think it's not dead.
I wanted to benchmark my System without overclock, stock settings, so I decreased the v.core from 1.7 to [H/W] and decreased the FSB from 183Mhz to 166Mhz, then I saved the Bios and exit. BOOM! The system powered itself off.
Since that moment I cannot get the system to power-on
I have cleared the CMOS, set the FSB to safe mode, remove the battery for more than 90 minutes, and nothing!
I have used a tester looking for short circuits and nothing.
I removed the Motherboard from the Case Chassis and installed on another chassis looking for ground issues and still nothing!
There are no marks around the Motherboard, no pieces are missing or broken.
Since it's on warranty I will send a RMA soon if I don't find a way to solve this!

    Hi,
Sorry for this but I just thought I'd mention it, it's sometimes the simplest thing. This can happen if you get your Standby and Power connections reversed! There I said it!

  • System won't start unless I remove battery + power

Am on my first week of Leopard. I took the upgrade (from tiger) route. For the last day my system has been unable to shutdown cleanly and I cannot restart until I remove all power sources. then. when I do boot up, I am asked to send a report to Apple about my failure to shutdown properly/ I have reset the PRAM but the problem remains. Is it a Leopard problem or a BIOS problem? I wonder if I should do a complete system restore from Time Machine to 24 hours ago. If so I want to do it asap. Will be glad for any advice. thanks, LJ

I got it sorted - when I repaired the file permissions all was well. But what a pain that such an advanced OS requires it's users to manually go in and do file structure housekeeping! LJ

    hi
you forgot to include the power output on the 3.3v 5v and 12v rails on the psu.
also what brand is the memory.
it could be the power and reset switch has been swapped.
    it could be bad memory.
    it could be bad psu.
it could be a wrong mounted cpu heatsink.
it could be a standoff under the motherboard.
is it 1 or 2 memory modules?
    make a signature like mine.
