afrter I have installed Lion OS X I coludn't start my Office programs, the same problem with Norwegian Picture programme from ELKJOP? What is wrong?

I don't know about ELKJOP but I do know that if your Office applications are old ones (before Office 2008) they won't work on Lion.
At the start of the installation process Apple should warn its users about this, but doesn't.

The acsm file is not the book, it is a ticket to get the book. I sometimes get library books online, here is what I do.
1. Start ADE on the computer
2. Go to library website and find the book I want to download.
3. Click on the download link
4. In windows 7 a box opens asking whether I want to open( or run) or save the acsm file
5. Click open/run and ADE downloads the book into the "Library"
6. Transfer the book (epub file) to the reader.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

@Tom in London : All I was saying is, this is a very small problem, thus the capital letters are completely out of place. If the world was gonna end, maybe ... You can't make a topic like this stand out in the forums when there are others that are more important.
Word 2008 is pretty much the same as Word 2004, except it's more confusing with the additionnal Ribbon bar, that brings no value-added really, so I would never recommend to invest a single dollar in it. Word 2011 on the other hand, finally has a true Ribbon interface, makes it easier to design documents, is much faster and optimized, is still supported by Microsoft, and last but not least the whole suite re-enables VBA code that had disappeared completely in 2008. You can even work with true Outlook 2011 if you want.

Mac Mini Server upgrading from Lion 10.7.1 to Lion 10.7.2 Freezes in upgrade install reboot. What's wrong?

After downloading and installing Lion upgrade 10.7.1, my Mac Mini (2010 model)) server will reboot to the Apple logo, but no spinning dial - freezes - requiring re-installation of the 10.7.1 version (which runs well.) Two upgrades are included in the update - Lion Recovery Update and Mac OSX Update. Should these be installed separately of together as they are downloaded? Am I doing something wrong? The machine has been continuously updated since OSX Lion came out so I am not lacking currency in the OS prior to this update.

What I have is: the MacPro 1.1 (2006) and a MacBookPro (2009).
Inside the MacPro:
(1) Start Disc
(2) 2nd Startdisk backed up by SuperDuper from (1) (without Parallels disk)
(3) Media (backup on TimeCapsule)
(4) TM backup of (1) without Parallels
(5): USB-Cradle with my last SnowLeo system-hard disk.
All tests to boot failed with: disk (1) Recovery HD (it is there!) , disk (2), external disk (5), Lion Install DVD , Recovery HD from a USB-Stick (created on my MBP).
All tests ended with a grey blank screen :-(
I'm German, so my English has limits. What do you mean with:
1. "Pull the bump system drive " ? Should I open my mac and put the old start disk aside ?
(by the way: I have a backup-drive inside the MacPro from this start disk.)
2. "Do a clean install of OS". On which disk ? A new one ?
3. "Put the old working system in FW case". ? FW case ? FW=FireWire ? case? I'm sorry, I do not understand what you mean.
4. "Update and install". What has to be updated ? The new installed Lion ?
5. "Import / Migrate with Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant" ? Can't I migrate from "2nd StartDisk" ?
6. "I am sure there is an uninstaller for Parallels 7 though not whether it can run from another system." I cannot use the uninstaller, as I am not able to boot the Mac :-(
7. The first OS on the MacPro was 10.4.6 (Tiger) I had Leo, SnowLeo and now Lion. So I believe it will be the moment to build a new clean Lion system.

Your HD may be damaged, simply restart in the Recovery Patition (hold down Option key on start up tone and choose Recovery) then open Disk Utility, choose the internal HD and run Repair Disk, if any errors appear after the 2nd or third pass your HD is probably damaged and needs to be repaired.

After the 2014 update photoshop won't talk to Bridge or Lightroom. What went wrong with the update?

When I try to export images from Lightroom or Bridge to Photoshop now I get a message that Photoshop won't start up when it is already open and running.

Update your graphics driver and/or turn off GPU acceleration in the Performance prefs.

After rendering video the audio is no longer in sync. Stumped on what's wrong.

I am working on a project similar to others I have done. This is in CS5 with Premiere Pro.
The video is a .m4v at 1080p and 23.976. Audio is 48Hz 16-bit stereo wave.
In editing the audio together I am finding that the further into the video I go the harder it is to get good playback (that's an issue with .m4v files). So I went ahead and rendered the video.
Well now all of the audio is off. I would be forced to redo all of the audio. I have looked at every setting I can think of to no avail. I started a new project and rendered the video right off the bat, but when I placed the synced audio into the timeline, it's off.
I am so stumped I don't even know where to begin. Rendering the video should not change a thing. But it has. Somewhere.
Any ideas?
This project is a personal one. I don't like the terribly cheap and shoddy 5.1 remixes for most Hong Kong martial arts pictures so I rip the BD's and use the audio from my old laserdiscs (LD audio is never remixed). At 16 bit PCM it sounds superb. But natrually it needs to be synced since laserdiscs were transferred from worn out theatrical prints. Some jobs require minimal editing. Somne a lot. Once finished I create a brand new Blu-Ray to enjoy in my home theater. Anal, yes. but it's a hobby.
I have never encountered this audio drift issue before.

In the Finder,navigate to your projec folder. Look in the Shared Items folder. Is there a video ffile inside? Does it play intact?

Upgrade to Lion: Option-click "hide" command now broken in Adobe programs

In the Mac world, clicking outside the active window while holding the option button hides the active window. After upgrading to Lion, I am experiencing a bug in all Adobe programs; option-clicking outside the window will hide the program, but will leave a static "ghost" image of the program on the screen. That is, the screen will look the same, but I can actually click my desktop "through" the window. Hope this makes sense. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? The command-H keyboard shortcut is still functional, though.

I'm staying away from Lion for a while as I've seen way too many little quirks mentioned on the various forums I frequent.
I'm thinking although Lion is the latest, it's just not the greatest.
Apple is in this huge limbo right now for professionals. I sure hope it all gets sorted out and communicated to the public realm so we can make educated future decisions.

Now one month later, the problem has returned.

You should still use Image Capture IMHO. If it was my gear, that's what I would do. No need to worry about software upgrades.

Buildin iSight does not work after update to Lion

Hi all
Anyone have problems with the buildin iSight after upgrading to Lion?
None of the programs; facetime/skype/photo booth can get the device to turn on.
Did a system reset and it worked for 2-3 times then suddenly it stopped working again.
Anyone have any idea for a perm fix?

My internal iSight on my MacBook Pro (mid 2010) is also nog recognized after Lion install.
It does not show up in System Profiler and resetting the SMC does not help.
Anyone can help besides resetting the SMC?

Open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Photo Stream then reselect it.
Now for your music. Launch iTunes. From the iTunes menu bar top of your screen click iTunes > Preferences then select the Store tab.
Select: Music. (and Apps and Books) if you want.
Click OK.
iCloud syncs via your Wi-Fi network so give it a minute or two to reset your photos and music.
Slow internet ... try turning off the modem for a few minutes, then turn it back on.

after upgrading to Lion, the Finder will increase the "virtual memory size" while using external HD. I check it using Activity Monitor and found that "Finder" wll increase the "Virtual Memory Size" and "Private Memory Size". and then after a while. the system told me my HD is full and hanging there.
My External HD is 1TB. and I have installed new version Paragon NTFS for Mac V.9.01. I am not sure it is related or not.
but I attached my external HD. the "Finder" will start to increase the "Virtual Memory Size".

The one has nothing to do with the other. Virtual memory size and Private memory size are used by developers to analyze their software. it has nothing to do with anything related to the user.
