Hi..assign a core tag value to a variable in jsp scriplet

Hi
I have a <core:set var="membershipType" value="${somevar}" />I want to set the membershipType value of the above tag to a variable in scriplet <% String member =""%> How can I do that,
Any ideas
Thanks
jag

EL variables are assigned to one of the 4 scopes -> Page, Request, Session, or Application. By default they go to the page scope, which corresponds to the pageContext object in scriptlets.
The result is that you need to retrieve the value out of the scope it is in using the proper getAtribute(name) method, such as:
<% String member = pageContext.getAttribute("membershipType") %>The best course of action, though, is re-designing your application so there is no need for scriptlets.

  • JSTL core tags not working inside of a jsp:include?

    I have declared the core JSTL tag and have a jsp include tag that calls another jsp page. I want to be able to execute a c:if statement inside the included file, but the c:if statement does not execute and is read back to me within the html. This is a frustrating problem because the EL returns a true or false based on the param I sent, but the c:if does not run.
    Is there a way to fix this, or is this something that I can't change?
    Note: I have found a workaround by using the include directive. I would rather use the jsp:include action, but unless this problem gets solved I will be sticking with the directive.
    Thanks

    You need to have the Core taglib declared on the page that you are including with jsp:include.
    There is a subtle difference between the include directive <%@ include %> and <jsp:include>
    The latter happens at runtime, and includes the result of running the included page.
    Therefore any page included with <jsp:include> needs to be completely standalone, and declare all of its own taglibraries that it uses. It can't inherit them from the "including" jsp.
    The include directive works, because it pastes in the contents of the included file at compile time - effectively making one big JSP file.

  • Passing multiple values to one variable in jsp/javabean

    I have a form, which contains an assortment of fields/checkboxes/etc. What I'd like to see is when someone goes through the form and enters text or checks any fields on the form they want, after they submit it to the next page, the next page will display all those values that they entered or checked. Some of these values entered may be strings or integers. I want all those values (checkbox1, checkbox2, etc) to be stored in one variable in a javabean so I can call upon that value at anytime during the session. Any suggestions?

    why do you want to store so many data in just one variable?

  • How to read the tag values sent by PCo to MII transaction

    Hi everybody,
    I have an Agent created inside PCo and its listening to a data server. I have also created a notification object which triggers my MII Transaction (after certain condition is getting fulfilled).
    Now, I want to pass certain values from PCo to MII using the notification object. For this I have tried 2 options:
    1. I defined one input parameter in transaction of type 'XML'. But this did not work. When I used 'Tracer' to check the received values, it showed empty.
    2. Since XML variable did not work, I tried with 'String' variable. It worked but the entire input data was in 'String' format.
    Actually I used XML_Saver to save the string and given filename as '.xml'. When I opened that xml file, it was looking like this:
    <<unable to write XML here>>
    Considering the above 2nd option, how can I extract the particular 'Tag' values from XML string. Since the string is not in the format of 'Rowset/Row/Row', I cannot specifically assign/map those tag values to any other variable inside MII transaction.
    ===========

    Hi, I was trying to post the xml string. It was not possible yesterday (because, SDN editor has converted xml part into some irregular string).
    Now, I am trying to post the string by removing the special characters. Please try to understand it.

  • How to invoke a funtion on a custom tag value?

    Hello,
    I have a custom tag used in my code.
    It is used as follows:
    <b:testtag name="Title"/>
    This outputs a String value.
    This is used in my HTML as follows:
    <b:testtag name="Title"/>
    This part of the code works fine. However i now want to invoke some funtion on the String outputted before actually outputing it. To be more specific, i need to convert the string to uppercase before outputting it.
    So my question is, Is there anyway to directly invoke the String.toUpperCase method on the tag output?
    If not, another way of achieving this is to store the value returned by the custom tag into a java String variable in a scriplet code, and invoke the String.toUpperCase method.
    Any idea how to go about with this? Particularly, i would like to know if it is possible to store the value outputted by the tag into a java variable in a scriplet code?
    If not is there any other way of converting the tag output value to uppercase?
    Please help!
    Thanks in advance

    Solution one: Change your tag so it outputs in uppercase
    Solution two: use a tag from a String taglib and put that tag around your tag
    example taglib:
    http://jakarta.apache.org/taglibs/doc/string-doc/intro.html
    example bit of code
    <a href='some test url here'><str:upperCase><b:testtag name="Title"/></str:upperCase></a>

  • Fetches more values into one variable

    Hi, inside a cursor loop I'd like to assign, each fetch, a value to a variable, in order, at the end to have a collection of all the values fetched into the same variable.
    The code is the following:
    CREATE OR REPLACE procedure APPS.AAA as
    v_pino varchar2(64);
    CURSOR tks_opened_range IS
    SELECT incident_number AS YP_TKS_OPENED_WITHIN_RANGE FROM cs.cs_incidents_all_b a, cs_incident_statuses_b b, Cs_Incident_Statuses_Tl c
    WHERE b.incident_status_id = c.incident_status_id
    AND a.incident_status_id = b.incident_status_id
    AND (b.attribute1 <> '3' OR b.attribute1 IS NULL)
    AND c.language = 'EL'
    AND ((sysdate - to_date(incident_attribute_6, 'dd-mm-yyyy hh24:mi'))*1440) BETWEEN 1 AND 11111111111
    AND incident_attribute_2 IN ('ΓΕΝΙΚΗ ΔΙΕΥΘΥΝΣΗ ΤΕΧΝΟΛΟΓΙΑΣ')
    ORDER BY incident_number;
    rec_tks_opened_range tks_opened_range%ROWTYPE;
    begin
    FOR rec_tks_opened_range IN tks_opened_range
    LOOP
    v_pino := rec_tks_opened_range.YP_TKS_OPENED_WITHIN_RANGE;
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('v_pino: ' || v_pino);
    end loop;
    end AAA;
    This works with the variable v_pino!....but at the end, the value of the variable v_pino is ONLY the last fetched by the cursor.
    Is there a way to declare a variable (or better a collection) or a new type in order to have all the data fetched into this variable and the end of the fetching ?
    I need to know this trick because, after, I have to assign this variable to a pipelined table function.
    Thanks in advance

    Great Devang !! Thanks a lot ! It works ! Now I am able to retrieve all the values I need and store them into my variable gino
    I searched on the note you mentioned in your mail in order to pass an array as a variable to a table function (PIPE ROW call), but I didn't find nothing about it.
    Now I explain to you my situation.
    I already implemented a table function that works perfectly. I have 2 cursors declared and 2 PIPE ROW calls.
    FUNCTION statistic_report_2_1 (p_resolv_time_ll varchar2, p_resolv_time_ul varchar2, p_ypiresia varchar2)
    RETURN xxi_statistic_rep_2_1_tab PIPELINED
    IS
    -- CURSORS FOR THE FIRST SHEET - Tickets opened per group and per duration
    -- Cursor for tickets opened within 1 hour --
    CURSOR tks_opened_1_h IS
    SELECT incident_number AS YP_TKS_OPENED_WITHIN_1_HOUR
    FROM cs.cs_incidents_all_b a, cs_incident_statuses_b b, Cs_Incident_Statuses_Tl c
    WHERE b.incident_status_id = c.incident_status_id
    AND a.incident_status_id = b.incident_status_id
    AND (b.attribute1 <> '3' OR b.attribute1 IS NULL)
    AND c.language = 'EL'
    AND ((sysdate - to_date(incident_attribute_6, 'dd-mm-yyyy hh24:mi'))*1440) < 60
    AND incident_attribute_2 IN (SELECT * FROM TABLE(CAST(xxi_szf_discoverer.ypiresia_values(p_ypiresia) AS xxi_ypiresia_list_tab)))
    ORDER BY incident_number;
    rec_tks_opened_1_h tks_opened_1_h%ROWTYPE;
    -- Cursor for tickets opened between 1 hour and 3 hours --
    CURSOR tks_opened_1_3_h IS
    SELECT incident_number AS YP_TKS_OPENED_BE_1_3_HOURS FROM cs.cs_incidents_all_b a, cs_incident_statuses_b b, Cs_Incident_Statuses_Tl c
    WHERE b.incident_status_id = c.incident_status_id
    AND a.incident_status_id = b.incident_status_id
    AND (b.attribute1 <> '3' OR b.attribute1 IS NULL)
    AND c.language = 'EL'
    AND ((sysdate - to_date(incident_attribute_6, 'dd-mm-yyyy hh24:mi'))*1440) BETWEEN 60 AND 179
    AND incident_attribute_2 IN (SELECT * FROM TABLE(CAST(xxi_szf_discoverer.ypiresia_values(p_ypiresia) AS xxi_ypiresia_list_tab)))
    ORDER BY incident_number;
    rec_tks_opened_1_3_h tks_opened_1_3_h%ROWTYPE;
    PRAGMA AUTONOMOUS_TRANSACTION;
    BEGIN
    -- FIRST SHEET OPEN CURSORS --
    TICKETS NUMBER OPENED WITHIN 1 HOUR
    FOR rec_tks_opened_1_h IN tks_opened_1_h
    LOOP
    PIPE ROW(stat_rep_2_1_type(
    rec_tks_opened_1_h.YP_TKS_OPENED_WITHIN_1_HOUR
    END LOOP;
    -- TICKETS NUMBER OPENED BETWEEN 1 HOUR AND 3 HOURS --
    FOR rec_tks_opened_1_3_h IN tks_opened_1_3_h
    LOOP
    PIPE ROW(stat_rep_2_1_type(
    ,rec_tks_opened_1_3_h.YP_TKS_OPENED_BE_1_3_HOURS));
    END LOOP;
    RETURN;
    END statistic_report_2_1;
    But, in this way and with this syntax, I obtain for each PIPE ROW call only one field filled each time, because I can’t call 2 cursors in a nested loop together (data duplication);
    For example:
    1st PIPE ROW call : only the first field is filled and into the second I have to put ‘’
    2nd PIPE ROW call : only the second field is filled and into the first I have to put ‘’
    ….and I cant’ call with a single PIPE ROW call two cursor variables…..
    Into a Discoverer report this data layout is really bad (you can imagine with thousand
    of records).
    For this reason I thought to use an array variable (gino) to pass to a single PIPE ROW call outside the cursor loop……but it doesn’t work !!!
    Can you suggest me how to resolve this problem….if it possible ?
    Did I have to declare other TYPE or collection ?
    Thanks you so much

  • How to assign bean value to a local variable in JSP using struts.

    Hi everybody!
    I've a problem that puzzled me on how to assign a bean value to a local variable like String in JSP using struts.
    we can have someting like this to display the value
    <bean:write name="detailService" property="status" />or
    <bean:define id="theStatus" name="detailService" property="status"/>
         This is country: <%=theStatus%>but an error occured when I tried like this:
    String currentStatus = "<bean:define id="theStatus" name="detailService" property="status"/>";
    or
    String currentStatus = "<bean:write name="detailService" property="status" />";Is there a way to do this?.....
    Any help pretty much appreciated

    Java != JSP.
    The <bean:define> and <bean:write> tags are custom tags meant to appear in the HTML section of a JSP file, as opposed to the scriptlet section. They actually get turned into java code as part of the translation process.
    The <bean:write> tag naturally just writes out what you tell it to.
    The <bean:define> tag defines a local variable, and gives it a value.
    this should do it.
    <bean:define id="theStatus" name="detailService" property="status" type="java.lang.String"/>
    <%
      String currentStatus = theStatus;
    %>With the advent of JSTL, you shouldn't really need to use scriptlet code anymore. Personally I am for 0% scriptlet code in any jsp I write.

  • Assign the Asset "Tag Number" at PO receipt stage

    Our customer has a requirement to enter the Asset Tag Number for an item when the purchase order is receipted (or even at inspection stage for 4-way match PO's). The tag number entered, should then flow through to the FA module.
    Does anyone know if this can be achieved with standard functionality, or if it can be done with a customization?
    Here is the basic flow steps, the words in brackets () are the change we're looking for.
    1. Create PO for item coded to asset clearing account
    2. Receipt PO (and assign the Asset Tag Number)
    3. Match the PO to the AP invoice.
    4. Validate and account the AP invoice and transfer that to GL.
    5. Run the Mass Additions Create Process
    6. Find the Asset in Mass Additions Create (the Tag Number field should be populated with the value entered in step 2)
    7. Post Asset

    Hi,
    This is unfortunately not possible with standards but you may try using Badi ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST => PROCESS_ACCOUNT.

    Hi,
       I am trying to set a XML tag value in the initialize event of a text field.. The code works fine in FormCalc but I needed it to work in java script.
         FormCalc:
         $record.prospectApplication.typeName = "namedInsured";

         xfa.record.prospectApplication.typeName = "namedInsured";
         The above JavaScript does not work. Can any one help on this?
    Thanks
    Srini

    Hi Srini,
    In JavaScript you don't get any default properties so you need to say;
    xfa.record.prospectApplication.typeName.value = "namedInsured";
    That is assign the value to the "value" property not the dataValue object.

    Hope this could be an appropriate answer for your question.
