  • How to decide about the Architecture on a big enterpriser application ?

    Hi,
As u know there are lots of items to choose from when building a web based enterprise system with j2ee technologies.
these choices may be from different patters (MVC,FrontController,...) and different frameworks(JSF,struts,...) for different layers(Presentation,DAL,...) of the application.
and i know that most of them are project dependent. but is there a source for this big decision as a guide ?
    we are going to develope a web based and distributed total system(MIS,...) with around 130 subsystems ;
any propose on the architecture would be of great help. there must be some old successful systems with known architectures.

    thaxHi there,
It really (as you say) depends on the project and the problem domain, there is no Golden Hammer in J2EE. However there are some considerations you might want to take into account, bear in mind that without knowing hte problem domain this could all be useless waffle :-):
1.) 'Future Proofing'. What technologies are likely to be supported well into the future and what will the average developer be comfortable with, also what is an easy framework for developers to follow? It sounds like you'll have a large team on this one and several replacement developers will probably come in along the way
So for the front-end you could argue for Struts (will definately be going strong as it will be closely tied in with the new JSF spec) or plain JSP/TagLib with a Servlet Controller MVC pattern. solution.
Moving further into your layers you definately want to have a Facade between your Business layer and your Data Access layer, there are so many competing technologies in this area that' it's wise to be able to mix and match at a later date.
2.) Another thing you might want to consider is definately representing your business data in XML. It could be a solution for having a consistant data transfer layer for those subsystems! But of course translating XML to Javabeans and back again can get expensive...
Well you could write a book on this (and several notable people have). I'd recommend that hte project budget shells out on J2EE Design Patterns by Oreilly for you, it'll help you clarify some ideas and more importantly help you avoid the common mistakes :-)
    Hope that helps!

  • Passing parameters to the url which navigates to oracle applications

    Hi All,
My requirement is i need to display a link in the email message, so that user can click it and can navigate to a form in oracle applications.
The link will be like http://shine.apps.com/function_id=670&language=US etc
I am able to display the form which the user wants, but they want the form to be queried with a value. so can anyone help me to how to pass parameters to the above url.
    Thanks in advance
    Srinivas Dodla

I achived the same thorugh workflow. In the workflow define a attribute of type form and then pass the formname, applicaiton name, resp name and any other form parameters to it.
You can mix forms personalization to achive best results.

  • I try to download firefox. After completion, the firefox icon is crossed out and when I double click, I get a message saying the architecture does not support this application. I have a g4 mac laptop with 10.5.8. Any suggestions?

hard drive died two weeks ago and had it replaced by an authorized dealer.
Previous to this disaster, I had firefox and had no problems.

The latest 9.0.1 version is not compatible with your ppc mac os.
Firefox 4 versions and later '''do not run on a PowerPC Mac''' and require at least OS X 10.5 and '''an Intel Mac'''.
    see : [http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/9.0.1/system-requirements/ Firefox 9 System Requirements]
'''The latest supported version for your os is 3.6.25''' , you can download it from:

    Hi there:
Can somebody tell me how can I get the employee department information from oracle application.
I need to know the table name and column name.

I think this is not the best forum, to ask such a question. One that deals with Oracle Applications would be better suited.
Maybe have a look [url http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=410]here. Not sure if it is the right one.

  • Tools for UCCE/CVP Project phase?

  • Cprojects and object links to other project phases

    Hi experts,
Have anyone of you some ideas how to creating a object link to another phase in another project? Are there possibilites for enhancing the the type of objects link via a BAPI or something in cProjects 4.0?
    Thanks, Camilla

    Hi Camella,
You can try this in IMG activity
"Make Settings for the Linked SAP Objects". But you need to try copy an existing entry and change relevant tables parameters
I have done this for R/3 Transaction in cProjects 4.0 + ECC 6.0 and Iam sure it will work for Project Phase also
Pls,let me know the version you are trying this feature

  • OWB Run mapping of another project in the current project

I have to projects (one for the Phase 1 and one for the Phase 2 area).
In every project I have one process flow for each mapping.
Now I want to create a process flow in the first project which calls a process (contains a simple mapping)of the second project.
    How can this be achieved?
    Regards
    Thanach

... we do a trick. We copy a mapping from project 1 and paste it to project 2. Than we edit it and delete all unnecessary operators exept the table we want to reuse in the project 2. After this we add the necessary operators and deploy this mapping into the same target as project 1.
I think this approach will work for processflows too. It'S a workaround because you can not choose an object from one project in another without this trick.
We have one project for each version, so project 2 should only includes the deltas to the version in project 1 and use the other objects from project 1.

  • I want to learn the architecture of JMS

    Hi
I'm doing a school project and I have to understand the architecture of JMS. Can someone explain it as simple as possible, as if I were a 10 year old.
1.) I want to know what the topics destination is...is it a class? what does it do?
    2.) Topic factory...what it is...what it do...
3.) The session...when is it created...when a user log on?
Can someone explain the whole architecture i would be very grateful
    Thanx in advance

    1. Create a topic connection factory
This would be more aptly said, "GET a connection factory." As YOU don't create one. Instead, you typically look it up in JNDI like so:
    Context context = new IntialContext();
    ConnectionFactory factory = (ConnectionFactory)context.lookup("ConnnectionFactory");
The reason you do this is becuase ConnectionFactories are considered "Administered objects." This means that they are configured on the server by and administrator. They encapsulates provider specific settings that generally relate to the creation of connections like what protocol to use, what port, what the server IP address is, etc. When an administrator creates a ConnectionFactory it is bound to the JNDI tree.
    2. create topic (destination) (What is this...whats the use of it?)
Like a ConnectionFactory, a destination is an administered object. So your question is more aptly termed "GET" a destination. Administrators create and configure destinations on the server and the JMS client looks them up just like it does the ConnectionFactory. See the example above. Like a ConnectionFactory, the administrator configures the destination with provider specific information--perhaps security, etc. It too is bound to the JNDI tree.
    3. uses topic connection factory object to create connection object
A Connection represents a physical connection between the client and the server. When you call createConnection on the ConnectionFactory the provider is opening a connection to the server using the provider specific information configured in the ConnectionFactory. Connections are heavy weight objects because they are typically backed by Sockets.
    4. uses topic connection objectto create topic session object
A Session object plays the central roll in JMS--it defines a serial inbound and outbound flow of messages (possibly to/from multiple destinations), and also maintains the transactional boundaries. This means that you can have several different Consumers and several different Producers and messages can be sent and received and then committed or rolled back as a transactional unit. If you rollback the transacted session, all received messages will be negatively acknowledged (causing their redelivery) and all sent messages will be destroyed (which will cause them never to be delivered to thier intended destination). A Session is also a factory for creating messages.
    5. creates topic publisher or topic subscriber using session object
You use the Session as a factory for creating Consumers or Producers. As their name implies, they either producer or consume messages. The Producer only exposes a few methods which all just send messages. The Consumer, however, exposes both asynch and synch operations. If you register a MessageListener with the Consumer, then you are requesting notification from the Server. When the server wants to deliver a Message to you, it will call the OnMessage method of your implementation of MessageListener. If you want to simply block for messages in a synch fashion then you use the Receive methods.
    6. starts the connection
Starting the Connection is only necessary when you are dealing with Consumers. You can send Messages on a stopped Connection. What the start method is really for is to provide the client a mechanism for telling the Connection when it is ready for message delivery to start. If the provider just started delivery as soon as your Connection was created, then you'd start receiving messages before you had your Session and Consumers setup properly.
    7. Publishes or subsscribes to messages
Again, if you are only publishing (producing) you don't need to do number 6 before you do number 7. If you are subscribing (consuming) you do.
    8. Close the session and the connection
When you close the Connection it will close all of the Session it created. The spec requires that the Session be shut down cleanly. An interesting thing about closing a Session is that even though you use a Session as a factory for creating (and I mean creating this time) Temporary Destinations, the lifecycle of these Destinations is NOT tied to the Session which created them. Instead, their lifecycle is tied to the Connection on which the Session was tied. That means that you can close a Session and the TemporaryDestination will not be destroyed. This is just a little oddity in my mind...

  • Cannot set Project Phase

    Hi There,
I'm using Sourcing 7 and I've been playing around with custom Project Phases.  Unfortunately, I no longer have the ability to set a Project Phase during Project creation (either through the toolbar or when adding/editing a previous/next phase).  I've deactivated my custom phase configuration (and associated value list, custom Project Type, etc) and am now just trying to get the out of the box behaviour to work.  Does anybody have tips/ideas for troubleshooting?
I'm a newbie, so please be gentle
    Sincerely,
    Shanker

Thanks, Vikram.  In fact the problem I was having was resolved by me using the correct worksheet to load the phase configuration details.  I was using the regular phase_configurations and not the eso_phase_configurations.  That resolved my issue.
    Thanks!
