For starters, I have a late 2009 Macbook (white) and am running Mountain Lion (10.8.2). Anyway, I purchased this computer off of someone else and I would like to change what I assume is the home directory (little house logo) from "appleuser" to my name. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find anything online that is helpful to me. I saw one thing that talked about changing the root login or something like that, but I couldn't even find it when following the steps that were given.
Anyway, like I said I bought the computer off of someone else and seeing the "appleuser" drives me insane so I'd like to change it. Anybody know how?Open the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences, create a new user account, and log in with it; alternatively, after unlocking the pane, control-click that account, choose Advanced Options, and change it there.

I opened a word attachment to an email in my gmail account and now I can't get rid of it. When I tap the mail icon the doc appears not my emails. Can anyone help?
1. Double-click the Home button reveal the Task Bar

Audio output changed to 'Digital Out' and speakers don't work! Please help!
I'm not exactly sure what's happened, but after starting up my macbook pro, my speakers/audio haven't worked.
The volume control in the menu bar is inactive (looks light grey) and in the Sound menu, I have no option for output devices except for 'Digital Out' - there is no other option for 'external speakers' (as per usual) or anything!
I can plug earphones in, and sound comes out fine... I don't know what may have happened, but I'm really worried - I use my MBP for home & work; I need my speakers to work!!
If anyone can offer any advice, I'd be really grateful. Thank you in advance.Talked to Tech Support about this when my machine locked up in this same fashion. There's a little "door" inside the headphone jack that can get stuck in the open position and keep the audio from switching back to the internal speakers / stuck in the digital (optical) output position...
The solution: the iPick... It's a toothpick, but if you use it to poke around inside the headphone jack until the little door gets unstuck, it becomes an iPick, and a box of them are very expensive, but they come in lovely colors and are very intuitive to use...
I'm not kidding... Stick a toothpick (or other non-conductive small stick) in the headphone jack and joog it around until it releases the little door... -
could someone please point me to the possible areas on my server where i can check why i cannot connect remotely. I have been trying for the past two months without success. i did not tru port mapping cause I don;t know how to do this and I was told that port mapping on my time machine is done automatically. I am running a mac mini lio server 10.7.3 Time capsule.
Most people are going to see that message as a result of not properly closing Firefox, and then attempting to reopen Firefox. This problem is most likely to occur on Windows Operating systems, less frequently on Linux and Mac systems but not unheard of on any system.

To properly close Firefox on your Mac use "Firefox" button -> Quit Firefox, and not with the "X" in corner of window which simply closes the window and not necessarily Firefox.
When you get stuck as you have described you must Force Firefox to terminate as described at the end of the article:

I changed my apple Id email because I needed a more recent email and forgot my old password, now I need to sign out of my old Apple Id and don't know how. Help???
Make sure you are signed into iMessage and FaceTime with your current ID. If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.) Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iDevice and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID). Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out (or Delete Account if you are not running iOS 8) and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password (your data will download back to your device). -

Hi. I tried switching my Apple ID email address to my new email address and I don't know how to switch it for iCloud and iTunes. Please help!! It seems like Apple thinks I have two separate accounts, when I just tried to simply change it!

I forgot my answers to my security questions so I went to my account to change them, but the email accout that they send all the security info on how to change them no longer exists and I don't know how to change that email with knowing my security question. Can anybody help me?
You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.

If you have a rescue email address set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address set up then go to Express Lane and select 'iTunes' from the list of 'products' in the middle of the screen.
Then select 'iTunes Store', and on the next screen select 'Account Management'
Next choose 'iTunes Store Account Questions' or 'iTunes Store account security' (it appears to vary by country) and fill in that you'd like your security questions/answers reset.
You should get an email reply within about 24 hours (and check your Spam folder as well as your Inbox) -
When I try to buy something, I get an Apple-ID which is not the one I want to use, and I don't know how to get rid of it either, so that I can replace it with my ID in Mail, contacts etc. The ID I get without wanting it, I can't find anywhere. How do I change the default apple ID that's displayed when buying or updating apps? It's currently defaulting to a no-longer-existing ID, and I don't know how to change it.
Any apps you purchased with the no-longer-existing ID will always have to be updated with the password to that account, you cannot merge account purchases.
To change to your new account go to Settings > Store > Apple ID: and put in the one you want to use. -
