Hide/show portlet dynamically at runtime

Hi All,
I am working on WL 8.1
I have been trying to hide a portlet at runtime using
portletBackingContext.setVisible(false);
in preRender() method. But still that portlet is visible.
I tried backingContext.setupStateChangeEvent(WindowCapabilities.DELETE.getName());
in init() method. It is also not working that means that portlet is not getting deleted in display.
I can hide page using
pageBackingContext.setVisible(false); but cant hide portlet.
Any one can help me on this.
Thanks in advance.

Hi All,
The problem is solved. The method setVisible(false) is working fine.
I never tried to returning false from the method preRender() before. Now i tried as a try, its working fine.
When you want to hide a portlet then return false and you want to show return true.
Thanks,

  • Hide and show portlet dynamically

    i have two pages each page contains one one portlets. in this scenario i can hide/show
    the respective pages.
    Is there any other ways to hide/show porltets dynamically from portal.
    thanks in advance.

    put a backing file on the portlet and from the backing file (probably pre render
    method)
    set the visibile to false
    PortletBackingContext portletBackingContext = PortletBackingContext.getPortletBackingContext(request);
    portletBackingContext.setVisible(false);
    If that doesn't work for some reason you can set the state to "delete" wil need
    to do this from
    the init method on the backing file
    PortletBackingContext portletBackingContext = PortletBackingContext.getPortletBackingContext(request);
    portletBackingContext.setupStateChangeEvent(WindowCapabilities.DELETE.getName());
    You can also use entitlements if this is a security thing.

  • How to hide/show chart at runtime

    Hi All,
    Can anyone help me in how to Hide/Show a chart at runtime.
    Thanks & Regards
    K.Srinivas

    Hi
    THere is simple way of doing it. Follow the steps below -
    1. Create 'Radio Button' in another form.
    2. Create 2 buttons in it e.g - 1=Show & 2=Hide.
    3. THen there is option as 'Visibility Condition' on Chart 'Properties'.
    4. Write condition as - IF('Form Tech name'@ST1=="1",true,false)
    here ST1 is tech name of the radio button you can select it in formula option.
    5. Then make 1 or 2 as default value.
    You can change radio button at run time & you can show or hide the chart.
    Let me know if you have any issue.

  • How to show or hide portlets dynamically on a Portal Page

    Dear All
    1. I have a Portal Page with One Portlet in the top having like 5 Buttons. Each button click should display a separate portlet in the bottom on this same page.
    2. I have Top Portlet. For bottom I have 5 Portlets P1, P2, P3, P4 and P5. On my .portal file, I dragged and dropped top portlet and all these 5 Portlets one below each other.
    3. Now, I am trying to use BackingFile approach at PageLevel/Portlet level, to get the details of button clicked in top portlet (like name etc), and then show only one portlet at a time in the bottom section (using portlet backingcontext show/hide APIs). I do need to compare the bottom portlets defintion_label etc. which is fine for now.
    Is this the right approach...?
    Or do I have to use Portlet Custom Event approach. So top portlet will trigger event everytime button is clicked with some payload. And bottom 5 portlets listen to that event and show/hide accordingly. But in this approach, I have to attach backingfile to all the bottom portlets to listen to them.
    All the portlets are Pageflow based Portlets. Any ideas or any other simpler approaches, are highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ravi Jegga

    Hi Kevin
    1. Thanks a lot for the pointers. I will go with Events. So for bottom Portlets, I will use the same BackingFile. But still it is going to be custom Event. Because only one portlet will be shown. So its like my payload will be portlet def label. In Backing File, I will compare this payload with actual dynamic value and if same, show or hide that portlet. Please let me know if this is correct approach.
    2. Now each one of the Bottom Portlets is a complex pageflow portlet with many buttons of their own. So everytime a button is clicked or action is invoked, the Backing File gets called. And I had to somehow know that the same portlet has to be shown or the show/hide logic should not be called. Is there any way, where backing file gets called or just listen for Events triggered only from main top portlet.
    Thanks for the other message, where looks like you already gave lots of pointers. I will go through them.
    I will design and test this out and will keep you posted with my results.
    Thanks a lot again

  • DYNAMICALLY SHOW AND HIDE OF PORTLETS

    I am developing some application using Portal application(forms,reports,menu).
    I have 3 portlets in a Page. Each portet has a Form,Report.
    The requirement is I wanted to hide and show a Portlet
    dynamically based on session parameter.
    For example : I have a form on top of the page and report output below it,
    that report contains a link for every row.
    By clicking on the link a stored procedure is invoeked
    that gets the rowid as IN parameter. This stored
    procedure should do a database operation and set some
    session parameters based on the rowid it retrieved and
    redirect to the same page.
    Something like:
    l_sess_store := portal30.wwsto_api_session.load_session(
    p_domain => 'PORTAL30',
    p_sub_domain => 'TEST'
    l_sess_store.set_attribute(
    p_name => 'l_rowid',
    p_value => l_rowid
    l_sess_store.save_session;
    portal30.wwv_redirect.url('http://host:port/servlet/page?_pageid=123&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL')
    Now this page has to show an additional portlet when the
    session parameter set by the stored procedure contains a
    certain value.
    How can I achieve this?
    Thanks, tobi

    Hi
    Question 1: Go to edit the tab and use the conditional display settings.
    Question 2: Go to the page template that you are using and edit Standard Tab Attributes.

  • How to hide/show and move screenelements at runtime

    Hi Guys
        Currently, i have a requirment that, in the same screen, when user choose different different option in the dropdown list, there should be different screenelements and table control with different columns showing below it.
    Now, i have two plans below:
    1), hide/show and move position of screen elements and table control at runtime
    2), call different subscreen
    I hope i can take the first way since the second way will modify structure of program ( As it is infotype screen ), any one knows how to implement the first solution?

    Hi,
    I would suggest you to call different subscreens and load them dynamically based on your parameters.Since different subscreen are called your coding and functionality could also be seperated by writing in the PAI and PBO of the correspondiong Screens.
    if you have decided to go by your first method then try the below code.
    a) if it is normal UI elements like text box etc
    LOOP AT SCREEN.
        IF <var> = ' value '.
            screen-invisible = '0'.
            MODIFY SCREEN.
      endif
    ENDLOOP.
    Here <var> refers to the screen field name and value refers to its value.
    b) To hide columns in a Table control.
    DATA cols LIKE LINE OF tc-cols.
      LOOP AT tc-cols INTO cols.
        IF cols-screen-group1 = 'G1'.
          cols-invisible = 'X'. "HIDE THIS COLUMN
          MODIFY tc-cols
          FROM cols
          TRANSPORTING invisible.
        ENDIF.
        CLEAR cols.
      ENDLOOP.
    PS: here TC refers to the name of the table control.
    Lemme know if you face any problems.
    Cheers,

  • Hide/Show Dynamic Action Stopped Working

    Good Morning,
    Once I upgraded my application to Apex 4.2.2, my dynamic action stopped working. It worked fine in 4.1.
    I also used javascript to hide/show my fields.
    code below

    My Dynamic Action
    Event: on change
    item --> :p310_force_gen_utc_srch (this is a select list that submits)
    conditon --> in list
    value --> '0GTAA', '8MMUB', 'CCMAR', '0GQGC', '0GQGB', '3NNNA', '3PQAA', 'XMCAS', '8NJAA', 'XMMCB', '9VCBH', '3PNAA'
    True Action --> show :p310_force_gen_rprtg_orgn
    False Action --> hide :p310_force_gen_rprtg_orgn
    They both fire on page load.
    The :p319_utc_srch has submits the page because the :p310_force_gen_rprtg_orgn lov runs a query to pull back that units reporting orgs only.
    Please help me figure this out.

    Hi Mary,
    So you changed from the code presented to a DA ? I'm not clear as to exactly happens or doesn't happen.
    Do you know if your AJAX calls are failing?
    If you use a Console like the one on Firebug or Chrome you can inspect what's being send and what's being returned.
    I mention this because your htmldb_Get calls looks suspicious.
    var get = new htmldb_Get(null,null,'APPLICATION_PROCESS=PROC_UTC_RPRTG_ORG',0);I would change it to
    var get = new htmldb_Get(null,$v('pFlowId'),'APPLICATION_PROCESS=PROC_UTC_RPRTG_ORG',$v('pFlowStepId'));That would pass the app_id and the page_id that is calling. Although this is probably not your current issue.
    See if you can find some javascript error. It's possible that this is a timing problem as to when the code is defined and when it's loaded.
    Thanks

  • Hide and show portlets

    Hello all,
    I have created two forms and two reports and added them in a page as 4 portlets like this...
    FORM1                    REPORT1
    FORM2(Hidden)        REPORT2(Hidden)
    ---------------------------------------------------------By default Form2 and Report2 are hidden..
    If I click the link on Report1...
    Form2 and Report2 should be visible....
    How can i acheive this..
    I hope someone suggest me a good solution..
    Thanks a lot in advance..
    Regards,
    Paappu.

    I do not think it is advisable to use page properties to hide and show portlets on them on user interaction. This assumes that we can do it by changing the display properties of those portlets on Page.
    The reason is this: If I am a user of your portal and visited one such page, I would see Form1 and Report1 on the page.
    Let us say, I clicked on some link you are planning, and then I started seeing Form2 and Report2 on that same page.
    However at the same time, you also visited on the same page right after I had clicked on that link. Then you will also see Form2 and Report2. And so the state of the page will be changed for all users after the first user's action.
    Is it actually what you would intend to do? that different users will see different pages based on who has visited the page before them?
    that is why I would not recommend it. Hope that helps.

  • Problem in Hide/Show in a Table Row

    Hi,
    i have to create 4 pages and each page has a table region with displaying records and a column "LINK" to go to the next page with the parameters from that record. Every link has a batchId and one another Id as parameter to next page. The next page reads the parameters and queries the corresponding table for details of that results table region contained in that page.
    Thus i have 4 pages with 4 table regions and each table region is associated with a view object which is based on an EO connected with a database table. (4 VO's).
    Now in every table i have a detail region (hide/show) which shows error records for a row ....
    thus there are 4 ViewLinks for all 4 VO to a single ERROR VO.
    I have 4 instances of ERRORVO in AM like ERRORVO1, ERRORVO2, ERRORVO3, ERRORVO4.
    Now, the hide/show region is working properly on the first 3 pages with proper navigation to pages.
    Then, i created the 4th page and created the table region in the 4th page.
    From the 3rd page i have passed 2 parameters through the link and also retainAM=Y.
    i have captured both parametres and call a method to populate data in table of 4th page.
    Successfully done..running properly....
    Now i added the detail region which is a table as previous pages in the 4th page with ERRORVO4...
    Then when i run the page i get the 1st page and thrugh link i move to 2nd and to 3rd page. But when i click on the link on 3rd page to move to 4th page i m getting "NullPointerException" with "check Inner table properties"
    Now i removed the detail region (Hide/show) only from the 4th page and again run the page . its working properly for all 4 pages with proper navigation but i am not able to see errors with hide/show on 4th page and it is required.
    i m not getting what could be the reason...
    do i need to remove retainAM=Y from the page navigation links.?????
    and is there anything like we cant create more no. of instances (4) of a single VO in an AM.....????
    Any alternative for showing the errors on 4th page with Hide/Show or without Hide/Show????

    Thiago,
    Thanks for the quick reply.
    I am now getting the following error below:
    Am I suppose to add another field to my VO select?

  • Creating Forte FieldWidgets Dynamically at Runtime

    Hi Everyone,
    Could someone please help me with the following problem I have when
    creating Forte fieldwidgets dynamically at run-time. I am using Forte
    ver. 3.0.G.2.
    (-1-) I have a window class with an empty gridfield, <grfMain>, inside a
    viewport. The idea is to populate the gridfield with DataField
    fieldwidgets dynamically at runtime. Depending on some input criteria,
    sometimes some of the DataFields need to map to IntegerNullables, some
    to DoubleNullables and some to DateTimeNullables. (Please note that I
    cannot use the Forte window workshop to create these fieldwidgets,
    because different types of fieldwidgets will be needed at different
    times, in different numbers, at run-time. ) Here is a sample of how I am
    currently trying to achieve this:
    dfDate : DataField = new;
    dfDate.MaskType = MK_Template;
    dfDate.DateTemplate = new( value='dd/mm/yyyy' );
    dfDate.Row = 1;
    dfDate.Column = 2;
    dfDate.Parent = <grfMain>;
    dfInt : DataField = new;
    dfInt.MaskType = MK_INTEGER;
    dfInt.Row = 2;
    dfInt.Column = 2;
    dfInt.Parent = <grfMain>;
    dfReal : DataField = new;
    dfReal.MaskType = MK_FLOAT;
    dfReal.Row = 3;
    dfReal.Column = 2;
    dfReal.Parent = <grfMain>;
    The code above is called after the window has been opened with the
    Open() statement.
    Looking at the code above, one obvious omission is that the "Mapped
    Type" of the Datafields are not set up. In the Forte window workshop, an
    interface is provided to set up the "Mapped Type" of the Datafield
    widgets, but I'm not sure how to do that dynamically, and that is
    basically my biggest problem here.
    (-2-) If I now run the window class, the Datafield widgets get created,
    and they all have the correct input maks, but no validation gets done
    when one tabs away from the field. For example, Datafields with
    MaskType=MK_INTEGER will gladly accept '--1--0++7', while Datafields
    created in the window workshop (mapping to IntegerNullables) will do a
    validation, and not allow one to tab out of the field before the extra
    minus and plus signs are not removed.
    I have the same problem with the Datafields which have
    MaskType=MK_Template and DateTemplate='dd/mm/yyyy'. For the date, one
    can enter something like '2*\**\****', and leave the field, while the
    same type of datafield created in the window workshop (mapped to a
    DateTimeNullable), will not allow you to leave the field before a valid
    date has not been entered. To summarise, the input masks of my
    dynamically created Datafields work fine, but no validation gets done
    when the field looses the focus.
    (-3-) As a test, I used the Forte debugger ("view"-"local variables") to
    look at the differences between Datafields created dynamically, and
    those created in the Forte window workshop. One very obvious difference
    was that Datafield attribute "MapTypeName" was filled in for the window
    workshop Datafields, but not for my dynamically created Datafields. The
    problem is that Forte does not allow me to set this attribute
    dynamically in my code. How else can I setup the Mapped Type
    dynamically?
    (-4-) In order to have a consistent look-and-feel throughout our Forte
    project, we are making use of Domain classes for DATE and DECIMAL data
    entry fields. My questions are:
    (4.1) How must I go about creating Datafields dynamically that make use
    of these Domain classes?
    (4.2) Is it also a matter of setting up the "MapTypeName" attribute,
    which I cannot seem to do?
    (4.3) Is the mapping done differently for Domain classes?
    (-5-) Another interesting thing to note for Datafields created in the
    Forte Window Workshop, is that if the mapped type is IntegerNullable
    with Input Mask = Integer, or DoubleNullable with Input Mask = Float,
    then the Object that the Datafield widget maps to, must first be
    instantiated before the Loose-Focus validations will start to work. For
    example, if a Datafield widget called "dfTestInt" was created in the
    Forte window workshop, which maps to an IntegerNullable, and Input Mask
    = Integer, then the following line is needed before the window is
    displayed: dfTestInt = new;
    Without this line, one can enter something like '2---3+++7', and leave
    the field.
    This is not true for Datafields where the mapped type is
    DateTimeNullable with say Input Mask Template='dd\mm\yyyy'. In this case
    validations are done even thought the object being mapped to, has not
    been instantiated yet. In other words you will never be able to enter
    '2*/**/****', and leave the field for datafield created in the window
    workshop. Maybe in this case the validation is being done by the
    template itself?
    Thanks in advance

    what I mean is rendering JSF components on the fly, becuase some time you don't know things at design time. Lets say I am designing a page in creator that shows the total number of dependants that belongs to a primary inusrance member in text boxes. Of course we don't know in advance how many dependants we have for a specific member unless we go to databse and fetch all the data at runtime. Desiging some thing dynamic like that is very easy in CGI or ASP/JSP but JSF model seems very static due to it's design time feature.
    So is it possible with JSF or not?

    How can I desactive the right-click option in screen:
         *'user's options':
    hide/show fields of screen in a web dynpro?.
    I don't want that users change the design of the web dynpro, and they hide the fields.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ana

    hi ana........
                each and every ui element in webdynpro has a property called visibility.
                bind this  property to an attribute of type wdui_visibility.
              at runtime pass value to this attribute as abap_true or abap_false for hidin or showing the fields.

  • How to hide a portlet

    is it possible to show/hide a portlet from another portlet.If it is possible how
    can it be achived..

    yeah, also look at post 4604
    In the first portlets backing file (probably the preRender method)
    PageBackingContext pageBackingContext = PageBackingContext.getPageBackingContext(request);
    List childWindows = pageBackingContext.getWindowBackingContexts();
    for (int i = 0; i < childWindows.size(); i++)
    WindowBackingContext windowBackingContext = (WindowBackingContext)childWindows.get(i);
    if (windowBackingContext instanceof PortletBackingContext)
    String instanceLabel = windowBackingContext.getLabel();
    if ("MyOtherPortletsInstanceLabel".equals(instanceLabel))
    windowBackingContext.setVisible(false);

  • Hide show button and textual area via Javascript or jQuery

    Hi folks am Apex newbie using 4.0.1 on Vista laptop running OracleXE (for dev purposes)
    A quick desc of what items are on the page of my Helpdesk appkication and what I want to achieve ..
    I have a Progress region defined on the page - with textual areas and some region buttons.
    Details are have 2 textual areas in my region - 1st textual area shows current progress (this is read only).
    Second textual region is where IT person will type latest progress on Helpdesk prob (ticket).
    There is a region button Save Progress Text which when pressed will append text from textual area 2 into textual area 1 and
    also appends text e.g date / time / userid etc of progress text added.
    This all works fine.
    Have added a new region button - call it Enter Progress Text - which I would like when pressed will make textual area 2 and the Save Progress Text buttons visible.
    I can hide and show the textual area 2 via $X_show / hide but cannot for life of me hide the Save Progress Text button.
    I also tried to make a subregion holding textual area 2 and the Svae Progress Text button but again via Javascript / jQuery could not hide the subregion.
    Can someone please tell me the syntax of how to hide via Javascript / jquery as can't find anything much at all in the Apex online documentation.
    Many, many thanks as always.
    P.S Don't want to use dynamic actions or hide / show region as want there to be buttons on screen to make things explicit for user hence my desire to use Javascript.

    Hi,
    If its a page item then you can use below script to hide it.
    <script type="text/javascript">
        $x_HideItemRow('Put your item name');
    </script>*Put this code in page footer..
