  • After start of Grid High Availability Service (HAS) can't umount filesystem

I have weird problem when I start and stop HAS. File system get's into state, where it does not umount. So filesystem where grid software is running can't be umounted on boot. 9Is there something I do wrong, or don't do right.
I have fresh install of latest 64-bit UEK2 kernel (2.6.39-400.109.1.el6uek.x86) and Oracle 11.2.0.3 Grid Infrastructure for standalone server. I Installed patch p12983005 (112036_Linux-x86-64) to get ACFS support for kernel. When I start HAS and ASM, file system does not umount anymore. Here's steps. Example is from local disk, but I have same problem with LUN from SAN. I thought it might have something to do with SAN and multipath, but SAN is not to blame cos same happens with local disk. Don't know why local disk seem be mapped by multipath in fstab.
    1. Mount fs
    [root@SERVER ~]# mount -t ext4 /dev/mapper/vg_SERVER-lv_app /u01
    2. Start HAS
    [grid@SERVER ~]$ crsctl start has
CRS-4123: Oracle High Availability Services has been started.
    3. Stop HAS
    [grid@SERVER ~]$ crsctl stop has
CRS-2791: Starting shutdown of Oracle High Availability Services-managed resources on 'SERVER'
CRS-2673: Attempting to stop 'ora.cssd' on 'SERVER'
CRS-2673: Attempting to stop 'ora.LISTENER.lsnr' on 'SERVER'
CRS-2677: Stop of 'ora.cssd' on 'SERVER' succeeded
CRS-2677: Stop of 'ora.LISTENER.lsnr' on 'SERVER' succeeded
CRS-2673: Attempting to stop 'ora.evmd' on 'SERVER'
CRS-2677: Stop of 'ora.evmd' on 'SERVER' succeeded
CRS-2793: Shutdown of Oracle High Availability Services-managed resources on 'SERVER' has completed
CRS-4133: Oracle High Availability Services has been stopped.
    4. Try umount
    [root@SERVER ~]# umount /u01
    umount: /u01: device is busy.
(In some cases useful info about processes that use
the device is found by lsof(8) or fuser(1))
    [root@SERVER ~]# fuser /u01
    [root@SERVER ~]# lsof |grep /u01
Neither of fuser or lsof returns nothing.
This and the fact that ACFS cannon't be mounted on boot, get's me wondering should I use ASM and Oracle Restart at all at this point. Initial reason is that in future this is likely going to be part of RAC.

I followed the instructions and copied the edid file I obtained while monitor was connected directly to the specified directory.
    Now I get:

    Jan 17 13:14:09 daniel-think kernel: [drm:edid_load] *ERROR* Requesting EDID firmware "edid/medion-edid.bin" failed (err=-2)

  • High Watermark issue with monitoring Service Manager 2012 R2

    Hi,
Our customer has a Service Manager / Operations Manager 2012 R2 environment where SCOM will regularly generate an alarm related to High Watermark monitoring on the Service Manager data warehouse - not every day though. The alarm looks like this:
Value of 3559 is not higher than 3559
This value hasn't changed for weeks.
Having done a lot of searching we have found nothing but reference to the same recurring flow of information where people keep mentioning different values but there is no conclusion of what this might be caused by and how to solve it. The solutions
have become outdated anyway. Here is one example:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/systemcenter/en-US/889af8f3-cdf8-4d88-ae99-5dbe18d529ef/service-manager-2012-data-warehouse-high-watermark-monitor
The Service Manager Database Account in SCOM is our service account that has sysadmin in SQL. Basically, with regards to the security configuration, our customer should be covered.
To my knowledge agent-based and agentless monitoring have both been supported since SCSM 2012 SP1. Also, we have the latest management pack for Service Manager monitoring in SCOM, at the moment this should be
    7.5.3079.0.
As mentioned above the value has not been changing for quite some time and nor has it in the database.
    My questions are the following:
    - Is there anyone that has found a solution in the meantime, especially with regards to R2?
    - What is the purpose of High Watermark monitoring for the data warehouse? Why does this need to be monitored?
    - We would like to understand the nature of this value better. Should it be higher each day compared to the day before?
    - Could it just be overriden in SCOM?
    Many thanks in advance!

Rather unexpectedly, the SCOM alarm disappeared overnight and when checking the workflow in the incident that was generated from the alarm, the incident got a Resolved status right before midnight at 23:59:58. We have a ConfigMgr connector that is scheduled
to run at 23:00 which we had disabled a day ago to check something else. But I don't think it had anything to do with this. As the alarm has disappeared from the SCOM console, we have also checked the registry values. Now, instead of "3559 3559 3559"
it says "3559 3559 3585". We have had the 3559 value since 18th July, and out of a sudden something must have been triggered, causing the value to increase. What was triggered and how, no idea... Not sure either what it means that only one of the
Three numbers have been updated with a new value. When talking about the DW jobs, using the SMlets we can see every day that, MPSync, DWMaintenance and the ETL jobs are working well. What we have had though for a longer time is that the cube processing
tends to have issues once a week, where processing won't finish and the cubes get hanging in a running state. We can fix that manually every time and often we don't even have to touch DWMaintenance or the ETL jobs, we don't need to go beyond manually
working with the cube processing jobs themselves. So it might not have an impact on the ETL jobs themselves. Occasionally we do find ourselves in a situation where we we need to play around in the SQL database and manually set the required value (can't
recall if it's 3, 6 or 7) cause we get an error in the DWMaintenance batch, but even though that's an occasional issue it's not constant and also something we can solve, and furthermore it's another known issue outside of the high watermark issue. So
we are a bit uncertain but can at least see that something works sometimes that sometimes increases the high watermark value :). In our case.

  • 1)     When call center Team creates Service Request/Service Order/  Complaints it should be set as High Priority by default.

Hello team ,this is my requirement ..   Through customizing..
When call center Team creates Service Request/Service Order/ Complaints it should be set as High Priority by default...we need to set only interaction agent bussiness role priority only HIGH..only for this bussiness role.through customizing how to do it..what are the steps..through customizing only please.. help

By customizing, you can set a default priority to a given transaction type.
But this does not depend on the business role.
But as you are talking about IC agents, maybe you can check IDI for this purpose, because there are actions like "Set Problem Priority", "Set Service Request Priority" or "Set Service Order Priority".

  • SMS triggering for High Priority Incident

    Hi,
    I am using Solman 7.1 SP10. I have already configured ITSM-Incident Management.
My requirement is, is it possible to trigger to SMS to support team message processors, if Incident is of High OR Very High priority.
is this SMS triggering configurable in Solman ? If yes, how to configure.
    Regards
    PK

    Hi P K,
Your requirement can be divided in to 2 parts.
1st Part : You can route the messages to respective support team based on the priority of the messages via BRFPLUS. Below is the url for routing of messages based on SAP Components.
Support Team Determination via Business Rule Framework plus - SAP IT Service Management on SAP Solution Manager - SCN Wi…
In the similar fashion you have to do it based on priority of messages.
    2nd Part : Basis Area.
You can configure the SMS triggering instead of email.

  • Reporting In Service Manager 2012 - How To Get A List Of All Service Requests Regardless of Status

Within the Custom Reporting Options available to users of Ssystem Center Service Manager 2012, which would one use to create reports that do not contain any agregated data but are instead detail level info such as a list of all Service Requests reardless
of status?  I want to include within the report the same data you see on the main page of a Service Request when you double-click a Service Request within Service Manager and it pops opne the details of the Service Request.
I'm trying to get the following info for each Service Requests
    SR ID (i.e. SR1234)
    Affected User
    Title
    Description
    Priority
    Source
    Area
    Support Group
    Assigned To
    Created By and Created On
I know the cubes w/Excel offer a great way to get data for a **piece meal report or for getting agregated data (I.E. counts, sums, avergares, Max's & Mins) but I need a report that has zero totals and no agregations.
    Thanks
** A piece meal report is a report that has to be manually pieced together by combining data from others reports and other sources because no single report can be constructed to bring all the data togethere into a single report.  If you've ever
worked with an accountant taht uses Excel for everything but who has no idea how SQL or databases in general are deisgned then chances are you've either been asked to create a piece meal report for them and or seen them do one them selves when they open a
spreadshet and dump into it disperate data from a variety of sources and then ask you why you can't automate that same report for them.

the following thread covers some good SQL queries to get details about the Incident Request, just amend them to cover the Service Request

  • Operation timed out (FSP network services manager)

Received this error from five different RMAN jobs, all submitted at approx 6am, all failing within a couple of minutes. Resubmit of all five jobs worked fine. Many other jobs submitted at approx the same time worked fine. Time out does not appear to be related to waiting on tape drive resources.
Any ideas as to cause? If this is a network thing, any way to extend the timeout or cause it to retry?

  • Enterprise Services & Managing Quality of Service

    Hello,
the documents published recently regarding ESA are pretty much aligned with the general idea to follow the idea of SOA. We talk a lot about enterprise level functionality and the reuse of high-level patterns being developed. However there is not much talking (yet) about the managing and monitoring of those enterprise services. Eg. Enterprise Services without well defined service-level-agreements attached to them and a platform supporting to manage&monitor (quality of service) these services tend to be applied just like any other application-service.
The question raising here: Where (based on what technology/platform) does SAP want to manage such SLAs allowing also business managers to understand what quality of service is being provided to their business functions. So far I haven´t spotted anything supporting that layer...(in the sense of "Click on an enterprise service, eg. define alert if response is greater than x sec or n service call failed, category of enterprise service...)
    Regards
    Rudi

    Rudi,
It is never any fun to say "It depends".  But that is the way I feel I have to start this response.  I think your question does hit the next level of required detail in an ESA beyond the exposure of services to the enterprise.  Immediately after exposing services, basic SLA's and monitoring becomes critical.
There are in fact monitoring capabilities in XI 3.0 that should give us the first round of basic "Service Management".  XI also offers a reasonable way to conduct service failover and redundancy by providing a both routing and queueing.  I do think the issue is Service Management (encompassing SLA's, monitoring, alerting, failover, etc.).  XI is where I think it could be done most consistently, but we are not all the way there.  I will do some digging and get back to you on this with an update.
Each of these tasks could be done as Infrastructure Services supported out of WebAS 6.40.  This might not be a bad move for the next 6-12 months.  If these services are modeled after the standards, then a simple form of SLA monitoring, logging, and alerting should be pretty easy to create and maintain.  It is pretty straight forward to say that all your service calls go through a set of basic infrastructure services to provide the visability you are requesting.
Excellent question, that deserves a better answer.  I will see what I can find out.

  • Service Manager 2012 R2 (rollup update 2) Change Request/Review Activity Email Notifications

I am trying to setup an email template for Change Request Reviewer. The email should contain as much details as possible, include Change Request ID, Description, Reason, Impact. etc. I have tried to include Data Properties from "Contains Activity",
"Has Parent Work Item", "Depends on Work Item"... but they all show blank data in email notification. Which Data Properties should I use?

Maybe this blog post is helpful:
Using Data Properties From the Parent Work Items in Activity Email Templates
Andreas Baumgarten | H&D International Group
    Thanks Andreas,
I have seen this post, but it didn't work for me. Eventually, I found solution. Below is working code.
    For example:
"Contains Activity" doesn't have Change Request Data Properties "Reason". I inserted "Reason" from "Has Parent Work Item", copy inserted code "TypeConstraint=... .../Reason$", paste it after "$Context/Path[... ...System.WorkItemContainsActivity' "
to replace the original code inserted from "Contains Activity".
Also, don't forget to adde SeedRole='Target', but better to type
    ' by yourself.
    Mark Marra    13 Nov 2013 9:24 PM
Be careful when copying + pasting SeedRole=’Target’ from this blog post. It should actually be SeedRole='Target' which has different punctuation around Target. I'd imagine that whatever blog engine Microsoft uses for this "helpfully" converted the
single quote to some weird right-slanted-single-quote which doesn't work in Service Manager when copied+pasted.
You guys might want to wrap it in a code block, or whatever you can use on the back-end to preserve formatting.

  • Service Manager 2012 R2 UR2 crashes (occasionally) on clicking the refresh bar

    Hello all,
    Hoping someone can help/advise please?
We have a sporadic issue where SCSM 2012 R2 UR client console crashes when the Refresh View bar (seen at the top of a list of Incidents when something is updated relating to that list)
is clicked to refresh a view list of Incidents. We see the issue approximately once a day per analyst, however it doesn't occur every time we click the refresh bar.
So far we have had five of our analysts see this issue, they are people who use SCSM
    continuously throughout the day.
Note: We are also using the Advanced View Editor from SCSMSolutions Support, but are not sure if
this is linked and the issue didn't exist before upgrading from SCSM 2012 SP1 which we carried out recently.
Directly below is the Error message seen at the time of the crash, and below that is the Event log associated to the issue. We see no other related event logs.
    Many thanks for any help!

  • HELP, need to know where Service Manager 2012 is working

Hello, I am System Administrator in a Bank with around 1100 employees and I have been setting up Service Manager 2012 since midyear 2013. Now we are finishing the job. In May
my CEO had adviser from Gartner group to tell him how he should arrange the Computer department and one of the things that the advisor from Gartner said was that we should not use Service Manager 2012 because it is not a good system and those that are using
it are in constant trouble with it and are going to take it down. Now my CEO has told me to stop working on this because he is going to decide what he is going to do. I am stunned about this "advise" from Gartner group. I really like
Service Manager and I have set up Orchestrator, Configuration Manager and Operation Manager and these system are all working well together. Now when I am ready to ship this into Production my CEO says stop, so I am really frustrated about this sales pitch
    from the "advisor".
So my question is, can anybody give me some good arguments like where is Service Manage working well and where can I show my CEO that those advises that he had from Gartner group are totally
    wrong.
I would like to thank in advance.

I'm an staff consultant for a independent consultant company that is a Microsoft partner, and is also a partner with VMware, Citrix, etc... I'm a core infrastructure consultant, specializing in IT Management and processes. I install and configure
System center Service Manager as a major portion of my job. I consider myself a unbiased expert opinion, but that's almost a contradiction in terms.
I personally think Service Manager is one of the best service desk products available, for companies that are in certain positions.  I'm not aware of any companies that are removing it, but I am aware of a very small number of companies with
incomplete deployments they are abandoning because of standing issues, and just as many starting new deployments in the wake of the
    SDE end of life.
    first, the advantages:
Service Manager is a good mix of design flexibility and minimal configuration overhead. Compared to other helpdesk systems, the process load to create new offerings is very low, and a typical corporate system can be maintained with no more then 1 full or
part time administrator, pretty much regardless of size.
it's remarkably extensible. The authoring tool and readable XML format allows (with a little bit of familiarity) an administrator to create their own data types, forms, processes, workflows, and other management constructs
    with very little "hard" coding.
the representational object data model is a remarkable innovation that allows a very simple model translation, I.E. an object in the real world becomes a SCSM data object with very little normalization work. you don't need to think about tables, or
how identifiers are issued, or column space, or even web design. Want to manage heisenberg frabulators? awesome, create a class that represents everything about frabulators as properties or relationships, create a form that shows you a page with data
for frabulators, create a view that shows you all of the frabulators in the way you want to see them, and create a SCSM Frabulator object for each frabulator you have. If you create the frabulator class by inheriting from Configuration item, then
all of the relationships that already exist for other CIs (like Incident Affects relationship, etc) will just magically work. NONE of that requires any coding, and all of it can be done with out-of-the-box GUI tools.
SCSM has a good partner ecosystem (reference
    Provance, Syliance.com,
Expit, SCSM Solutions, etc.) including administrative tools, reports, and whole solutions.
    now the disadvantages:
Service Manager assumes that you already have an ITIL service book, and a specific type of ITIL service book with well defined, modular offerings based on very focused needs. As a starting assumption, this is a high bar. Most companies have not spent
the time or mental capital on HOW their it processes work required to take the fullest advantage of this. I personally think MORE companies should spend this capital, because they would EASILY earn it back in terms of better management oversight, process efficiency
gains, and better service delivery but no body issued me a magic wand, so...
box, Service Manager doesn't do anything. It's a representative object system that models your IT environment, until you tell it how your IT environment works, it can't model your IT environment. again, this requires a lot cognition about how your IT environment
works, and Companies that are just scraping by and don't understand how they deliver services or already have inventories are not going to be able to provide the information needed to make Service Manager really useful.
Service manager has some serious solution gaps, specifically reporting, the portal, and third party OS support. Both the portal and the default set of reports are on the list of things for the product team to improve upon, and third party products (like
Gridpro's Analyst console) are already improving non-windows support. Remember, Service manager is a VERY new product (remember,
the first RTM was april 2010) and shows INCREDIBLE progress in that time, but it still has a ways to go to compete with products that have been available
    for more then 22 years.
Microsoft has a poor reputation for feature and bug fixes, and has also shown variable levels of interest in Service Manager as a platform. The high point was probably the push for the 2012 release, where Service Requests, release management, the Offering
model and the major console improvements were all pushed in remarkably quickly. The low point was probably near the end of Travis's tenure, where it took almost two years to fix some basic workflow issues surrounding service requests after the 2012 RTM.
The recent trend on this has been positive, and
the tools are now in place to make it better, but the community as a whole is skittish right now.
As to why Gartner is recommending what they are recommending, they have a good point. Viewed pessimistically, System center is currently a beautiful, but incomplete and buggy, product that Microsoft has not been supporting adequately, based on
    deprecated technology.
But this view is incomplete: It doesn't take into account the fact that other products have higher administrative costs and minimal or non-existent automation support. It doesn't take into account the recent trend towards faster
releases, and better communication, but this things are only apparent on a longer time frame.

  • How to assign higher priority for labview while running other applications.

    HI,
I am performing 2 time critical counter operations. I am using software time due to the hardware limitation of PCI6013(I have tried all other options). My problem is that I get a erractic value when I use mouse, keyboard or change to other application.
I found the following link providing a method to provide maximum priority to labview application. But even regular labview users are asked not to use this application. I am not even a regular LABview user.Is there any precaution that I should take to use this VI. I am in need of such an application very badly. Please Help.

"Is there any precaution that I should take to use this VI."
    Yes many,
When you start to experiment with settings priorities in an attempt to avoid the affects of mouse clicks, then you should brace yourself for the application appearing hung. This would happen if LV had a higher priority than the mouse interupt service routine.
Same applies to the other conditions you mentioned.
If you go this route, backup before you experiment! Some strange things can happen to your file system.
I have talked to you about this challenge of yours in another thread. This is what I recomend.
    1) If you can live with your readings being made on only one gear at a time, AND the sample rate being aperiodic, then you MAY be able to use DAQ Occurances and two session. I
    have not done this myself, and AM NOT SURE if it can be done or if you hardare supports it, but maybe;
    a) Open two references to your and configure A so it uses hardware timing (like you already said works good) to count gear A using the other counter as the gate. On the other session you are counting gear B.
    b) Configure both of the above to fire occurances when done.
    c)Start only session A.
    d) When A occurance fires start B.
    e) When B fires start A, etc.
This will give you determinism on the counts and effectively shift the indeterminism to the update interval.
If this is not good enough then there is another option. Can you get yourself a nice solid external reference that you can apply as an external gate to both counters? If so you will be using hardware timing and you should be on the right track.
If these do not work out, you may end up having to go to different hardware.

  • Create at runtime a job to run at the central instance with high priority

    Hi All
Using the function modules  (  job_open, job_submit and job_close )  or ( job_open, submit via job  jobname number jobcount, job_close) I need that this job runs in the central instance and with high priority.
I would like to know how to  inform  it using the statements above?  How to pass the parameters to make the job run in the central instance with high priority?
    I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
I hadn't realized about the parameter TARGETSERVER of  the function module JOBCLOSE. I am going to make some tests.
    thanks in advance
