High Recursive CPU using LMT

I ran a statspack report for the full day and noticed extremely high recursive CPU as being a large portion of the overall response time. Any ideas on how to minimize this? Or, how to investigate culprits?
Using 9.2.0.3 on solaris.

Find the queries that are using CPU intensively and try to optimize them..
There might be poor joins or excessive sorting.

  • CPU use high

Hi, I recently installed Animate 3.0. Unlike 2.0, my cpu use goes very high doing the most basic of things like double clicking into a symbol to edit. I have a 1 year old high spec laptop with Intel i7, 8Gb RAM, GTX 765M graphics and Windows 8.1.
No other application causes such high CPU use.
It also takes the stage area at least 0.5 seconds to reload itself after each save. If I am several levels deep into nested symbols, on save, the stage will display the top level and then repaint to my current level.
    Has anyone else experienced this?
    Cheers,
    Patrick

Yes. It is a HUGE resource hog. I am running win7 64bit with pleanty of HD space, a high-end gaming graphics card, and 16GB ram. It takes a lot of time to enter a symbol (sometimes more than 5 seconds), more time to save, and sometimes brings my computer to a standstill for over a minute. Oh, and Edge also crashes completely on occasion when trying to save or enter a symbol... I hope Adobe fixes this, but I am a Flash developer moving to Edge, so I expect poor-preformance with memory and cpu. Works better if you don't test in firefox. Also exit completely out of the code editor before saving, that helps the save problems.

  • Mail has high cpu use

I have searched the discussions and tried all the suggestions and am not having any luck decreasing the cpu use of mail. As soon as I open the program it starts increasing the cpu usage until it hits high 80's. I eventually have to quit just to quiet down the computer due to increase in fan noise.
I have trashed the preference file. Rebuilt all the mailboxes. Emptied the trash. Run disk utility.
I can not think of any reason for this to just have started happening. I have not done any new installs. Does any one have any suggestions?
    Thanks...Lenny

    So...what does this mean?
It means there is something about your user account that is the cause of your CPU usage for Mail, not Mail itself. Did you install any software just before this started happening? If so what was it, specifically? Try this to see if it makes any difference:
Quit all applications and use Disk Utility to Repair Disk Permissions. Ignore any messages about SUID or ACL; it means nothing. Quit when it's done. Next, go to ~/Library/Caches/Mail and delete the contents of that folder, then use Get Info to Lock the folder.
Also, if you have any Bundles installed for Mail at ~/Library/Mail, disable them and then restart Mail to see if the problem continues.

  • ITunes 11.0.4 - high CPU use

    Hello,
since I upgraded to Mountain Lion 10.8.4. and iTunes to 11.0.4 a couple of days ago, iTunes keeps fooling around using up to 130% of my CPU (how is that even possible?!) when playing music. As soon as I pause the music, the CPU-use goes back to >1%. Before the upgrades I had a big library with over 170GB of music (no only a few albums) and no problems using iTunes whatsoever.
    I run a mid-2010 13" MBP with OSX 10.8.4, 2,4 GhZ Intel Core 2 Duo and 4GB of RAM.
    Thanks in advance!

Yessss! i' ve finally found the issue !
The problem was with "smart play lists" i dunno how you call it in english, but i' ve created a long time ago a smart playlist named "unread" because the "all random" function is not so much random for me, as they play some tracks more often than others...
With as criteria " numbers of play = 0 " so one title is played one time!
By using my brain as good as i can, i told myself " what itunes do when a song ends and then go to the next?"
It wrote something on the smart play list or something like that
Then test from "play all random" = no more issue !
Then deleted my smart play list and recreate one identical = problem solved !
norbml : i hope this help you

  • High load CPU X process

    Hi,
I'm using ArchLinux 64bit, with KDE 4.3.4 on a sony vaio, everything work fine, but after some normal work I see that process X takes more then 90% of CPU and never slow down. Even if I closed all my application it stays at 90%. I don't know how to see which application could cause this.
As first impression it seems when I use samba adn move some file from my machine to a windows machine, but today it takes high load cpu without using samba, so I don't know what else do, any good advice?
    thanks a lot

Hi thank you very much for your reply, I'm sorry to reply just now.
Anyway I have a Sony Vaio VGN.SR21M, using opensource driver xf86-video-radeonhd with hardware acc on. My graphics card is a Radeon3400HD
I used the closed driver till I switch to Xorg 1.7 and so I can't using it anymore so I switched to the free one.
    Should I disable desktop effects?
    Thanks again

  • Conky - CPU use discrepancy

Just trying out Conky for the first time, and I think everything is working but the CPU load. It seems to be almost inverted from what my CPU load is showing via 'top' or the 'gnome-system-monitor' (e.g. if there's a load of 5% per gnome or top, conky will show cpu use at ~95%).
I've looked through the man page and the sourceforge site and other people's posted conkyrc files online. The values for the process cpu usage seem to be fine, and track with 'top' output.
I have an hp dv6000 (dual amd 64).
Here are the applicable lines from my .conkyrc:
    # number of cpu samples to average
    # set to 1 to disable averaging
    cpu_avg_samples 2
    $color0[ CPU ] $hr $color1
    CPU Usage: ${cpu}% $alignr $freq_g GHz
    Core 0: ${color 3399FF}${cpu cpu1}% ${cpubar cpu1 6,75} $color1 Core 1: ${color 9933FF}${cpu cpu2}% ${cpubar cpu2}$color1
    Cpu Graph:
    ${alignr 24}${cpugraph 24,200 1A2B38 D9DBE1}
    Any ideas??

  • Extremely high system CPU load on my new 2012 Macbook Pro

I just brought my brand new 2012 Macbook Pro (non-retina) home from the store and noticed that it was running INCREDIBLY slow. I opened up the activity monitor and found that the system's CPU load is consistently around 70%-90%. I haven't installed any software outside of google chrome, although the issue was happening even before I installed google chrome.
Here are screenshots of my macbook's specs
Here's a screenshot of the processes sorted by %CPU
Here's a screenshot of the processes sorted by CPU Time
Any idea what would cause such a high system CPU load? Again I haven't installed any software outside of google chrome, and I don't have anything hooked up to my Macbook. This issue happens when my Macbook is both plugged and unplugged and I haven't noticed any overheating or extensive fan use.

    harkiamsuperman,
your first image shows Chrome using over half of the CPU time. Note that Chrome on Mavericks is more CPU-intensive than other browsers, since Google does not provide a 64-bit version of the app for OS X.
Since you’ve just brought your MacBook Pro home, perhaps Spotlight is doing its initial indexing of your internal disk; that could be one possible explanation. If that is the cause, then your CPU usage should settle down after it finishes.
If you’d like to try something simple and immediate, you could reset your MacBook Pro’s System Management Controller, to see if that makes a difference.

  • High proc cpu

I'm getting a high proc cpu at 92%. It show the SptBpduRx at 87%. How can I pinpoint from which point is the traffic coming? It is a Cisco 6509.

We have 5000, 5500 , 2900, 1900 switches going into the main switch (6509). We don't use it as a router for the moment. We have STP disable on all of our switches.

  • High system CPU usage only recoverable by rebooting

    Hi,
I'm having this problem since I started using my new iMac 27'. Before that I was using the same version of OSX (10.6.1) in the MacbookPro without this issue.
So it's being hard to reproduce the problem, but suddenly there is a spike in CPU usage from System Processes (on average 40-50% if "% System" in the Activity Monitor), but strangely when I choose to show only system processes, there's no process that is actually using that amount of CPU. And the system gets REALLY slow.
While trying to reproduce the problem, I rebooted and started iTunes. And it happened. Even after closing iTunes the high "ghost" CPU usage gets really high and never recovers unless I reboot.
Is anyone else having similar issues?

Hi, and welcome to the forums.
Don't limit it to System Processes. There's often too much interaction between user and system processes. Choose either +All Processes+ or +Active Processes.+
You probably want to select +View > Update Frequency > Less Often+ from the menubar, too, both so you can read the screen and so Activity Monitor itself won't take up too much CPU. Then sort the list by the +% CPU+ column so the largest numbers are on top.
Watch it for a while. Many processes will "spike" up and down normally, as they do something, then go idle.
And the system gets REALLY slow.
That's when you need to see what the top one or two processes are.
If you see +Process Names+ you don't recognize, post them here or consult http://triviaware.com/macprocess/all

Does any music show in the Purchased tab on the iTunes store app on your phone ? Music can't be re-downloaded in all countries, and even where it can be it will only appear whilst it remains in the store. Do you have your purchases on your computer and/or on a backup of your puchases so that you can sync them to your phone ?
