HitArea hide movie clip

Im trying to hide a clip on when one clips collide with
another using hit Tes and also hitArea, both of them doesnt
work....
I write the following code:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
if (_root.guardia, hitTest(_root.quienes)) {
hide == true;
} else {
hide == false;
Is something there i mess?
best,
IN

ok im understanding
"guardia" is the instance name of the mc also is a layer on
scene 1
"quienes" is the instance name of the mc that is inside a
mouse over buttom that is on scene 1
the action (the code) is inside frame 1 that is in other
layer on scene 1
I try these as you said:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
if (_root.guardia.hitTest(_root.quienes)) {
guardia.hide =true;
} else {
guardia.hide =false;
but still doesnt work

  • Same button on single frame to display/hide movie clip?

    Hi, can a button on a single frame be coded to both display a movie clip on its first click and, after a second click, hide the movie clip?  Thanks

    Yes, assuming you make the movieclip invisible to start with, in the event handler function just use...
    mc_name.visible = !mc_name.visible;

    i have 50 movic clip (box 10px by 10px) in my flash with the
    instance name is "test_mc" (all 50 MC same name of instance)
    then i write this code
    this.createEmptyMovieClip("test_mc", 0);
    test_mc._visible = false; // try to hide the movie clip
    but when i publish the file only single (1) MC is hide, why
    is happan
    here is i want to hide all my 50 movieclip at a time
    can anybody modify tish code or give me new code for tha

    give each instance an incrementing name

  • Hide movie clip of external swf

    Hi there.
    I have my main.swf and in the second frame i load an external swf called first.swf with this method:
    [AS]var loader:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
    this.createEmptyMovieClip("myGalleryContainerproducts",5);
    myGalleryContainerproducts._lockroot=true;
    loader.loadClip("first.swf",myGalleryContainerproducts);
    myGalleryContainerproducts._y =86;
    myGalleryContainerproducts._x =50;
    [/AS]
    In first.swf i have two movie clips with instance names ena and dyo
    I want in main.swf in the third frame to hide these movie clips of first.swf  (only the movie clips not the whole .swf) or to move them (change x and y values) so they practically hide.
    Any solutions?
    Thank you in advance

    You will need to wait until the file is loaded to be able to interact with it, so if that might be an issue timing-wise then look into using the addListener method of the MovieClipLoader class.  If the movie is loaded you should be able to access the movieclips within it using the movieclip name you assigned (mygalleryContainerproducts) to target them.

  • How can i hide a movie clip?

    is it possible for me to hide a movie clip by the press of a button that is on a differant timeline?
    here is my code for button.
    stop();
    submit_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, subClick);
    failed_txt.background = false;
    failed_txt.border = false;
    var myName:String;
    var myPass:String;
    function subClick(event:MouseEvent):void{
    myName=name_txt.text;
    myPass=pass_txt.text;
    if(myName == "gallery" && myPass == "password"){
      gotoAndStop("hidden");
    } else{
      failed_txt.text = "Please enter a valid password.";
    Many thanks.

    Yes, it should be possible, but you need to provide some explanation of what you want it to do that it doesn't.  How are things on different timelines and what symbol is supposed to be getting hidden?

  • Hide a movie clip on click

    Currently making a escape the room game. How can I write a piece of script that will allow me to click on set movie clips and then they will be hidden.

    One of many ways:
    1. You can change the alpha property of the movieclip to 0. The object will still be active but can't be seen.
    2. You can change the visible property of the movieclip to false. The object will not be active and will not be seen.
    3. You can change the x or y property of the movieclip to move it off the visible area of the stage.
    4. If you added the movieclip to the display list using addChild() to show it on the stage, you can use removeChild() to remove the movieclip from the display list and make it disappear.
    5. If you added the movieclip to the display list using addChild() then you could change the child order and hide the movieclip behind another, larger, movieclip in the display list.

  • Hide a movie clip

    Hello. I have some code for my movie clip which is as follows:
    purplebow.onRelease=function(){
    purplebow.onEnterFrame=function(){
    this.nextFrame();
    if(this._currentframe==this._totalframes){
    delete this.onEnterFrame;
    purplebow.onRollOut=function(){
    purplebow.onEnterFrame=function(){
    this.prevFrame();
    if(this._currentframe==1){
    delete this.onEnterFrame;
    When you click on the movieClip "purplebow" the animation starts, and when you roll off it goes back to normal.
    What I would like help on is implementing some code into this so that my other movieClips (which are: bluebow, redbow, greenbow, etc)
    disappear onRelease and then return onRollOut.
    The code and the movieClips are all on the same timeline, each on different layers.
    Thank you for your help in advance =)

    One way would be to create a function that you use to make all the objects invisible and call that function.  Then after that function call, set the clicked one back to being visible (I am assuming you want to have the same effect for the other buttons, otherwise no need to involve purplebow at all).  Later on with the rollout you can call a function to make them all visible again.
    Normally I would use the same function and pass it an argument as to whether to make things visible or invisible.  something like...
    function show_hide(truefalse){
         bluebow._visible = truefalse;
         etc...

  • How do I get a movie clip to follow the cursor?

    Hi guys,
    What I want:
    Is a simple action where I have my company logo in the middle of the screen and it follows the cursor (not over the whole screen but within invisible borders).
    What I use:
    I have Flash Pro CS5, code is Actionscript 3.0 and my company logo has been converted to a movie clip.
    What didn't work:
    So I watched 2 different tutorials on how to do this and both didn't work.
    With the first one I used this code:
    function gradientOver(event:MouseEvent):void{
              logomc.visible=true;
              function reportStageMouse(event:MouseEvent):void{
                        var myStageX:Number=Math.round(event.stageX);
                        var myStageY:Number=Math.round(event.stageY);
                        var xTween:Tween=new Tween(logomc,"x", Strong.easeOut, logomc.x, myStageX, 1, true);
                        var yTween:Tween=new Tween(logomc,"y", Strong.easeOut, logomc.y, myStageY, 1, true);
              stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE,reportStageMouse);
    function gradientOut(event:MouseEvent):void{
              logomc.visible=false;
    function gradientClick(event:MouseEvent):void{
              logomc.visible=false;
    gradient.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER,gradientOver);
    gradient.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OUT,gradientOut);
    gradient.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,gradientClick);
    And with the second one I had to make a border by drawing an oval shape, turn it into a movie clip and put my logo inside of it. Then I used this code:
    stage.addEventListener("mouseMove", arjun);
    function arjun(e:MouseEvent):void
              var var1 = mouseY - followins.y;
              var var2 = mouseX - followins.x;
              var radiusR = Math.atan2(var1,var2);
              var degreeR = radiusR / (Math.PI / 180);
              followins.rotation = degreeR;

    Thanks
    stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, hideCursor);
    function hideCursor(e:MouseEvent):void{
    logomc.startDrag(true);
    Mouse.hide(true);
    so I used this code and it didn't work. I first try'd it on the main timeline and then inside the logo's own timeline and even inside the backgrounds own timeline.
    no luck so far..

  • Help with smooth scrolling (masked movie clip)

    Ok, I really need help here, and I'll be very grateful for
    help before Monday.
    Someone has made a movie with a different set of text on each
    frame, the text goes out of the viewable area.
    I have been asked to make these frames appear in a pop-up on
    another flash and be scrollable.
    i thought this would be easy...just cut and paste them into a
    movie clip, then using a mask to hide the rest of the text.
    However, it is going painstakingly slow.
    Seems to be a performance issue, but it might be my code.
    Any help with the code, or optimisation elsewhere would be
    helpfully.
    Heres a simplified version of the flash;
    www.darkflame.co.uk/flashwork/Flash_popuptest.fla
    Code for the scrolling;
    _global.MoveUp = function(text) {
    _root.ITproduct.IT_productlist._y =
    _root.ITproduct.IT_productlist._y+6;
    updateAfterEvent();
    //trace('press');
    Called and stopped by;
    on (press){
    //this._parent.IT_productlist._y =
    this._parent.IT_productlist._y +10;
    //_global.scrollon = "yes";
    clearInterval(IntervalID);
    IntervalID = setInterval(MoveUp,100);
    updateAfterEvent()
    //updateAfterEvent();
    //MoveUp();
    //scroll on
    on (release) {
    //this._parent.IT_productlist._y =
    this._parent.IT_productlist._y +10;
    clearInterval(IntervalID);
    updateAfterEvent();
    //scroll off
    which is linked to a button.
    I dont know if this is a actionscript problem, or the way the
    page is made, or both.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Thomas Wrobel

    you have extraneous graphics on-stage that are slowing the
    scrolling (and even causing problems in the authoring environment).
    here's your file with those graphics removed:

  • Question about scrolling and Movie Clips Loaded from the Library

    I hope I am posting this in the right forum.
    Ok, I'm using actionscript 2.0, and I am trying to make a scrolling image gallery. I have a movie clip with three layers. the first contains a movie clip used as a scroll bar. The second is a mask used to hide the overflow content, and the third contains movie clip thumbnails. when I click one of the thumbnails, it loads a symbol containing a larger version of the picture over top of the thumbnails on the same layer. My problem is, the large image is added at the very top of the movie clip, even when it is scrolled out of sight. I want it to appear in sight, so the user doesn't have to scroll all the way back up to the top to see it. This is annoying and confusing. Is there a way to do this?
    Here is the code I used to create the scroll effect (there is actually a whole lot more to the code but it is very long, so I am not adding it now. I will if it is needed though)
    (Oh, and there is no text involved in this. I just got this code off a tutorial and I haven't changed the variable names yet)
        var scrollUpper:Number = 58;
        var scrollLower:Number = 309;
        var textLower:Number = 60;
        var textUpper:Number = -179;
        var scrollRange:Number = scrollLower - scrollUpper;
        var textRange:Number = textLower - textUpper;
        var startY:Number = imagesHolder_mc.thumbs_mc._y;
        function scroll(){
           var moved:Number = imagesHolder_mc.scroller_mc._y - scrollUpper;
           var pctMoved:Number = moved/scrollRange;
           var textMove:Number = pctMoved*textRange;
           imagesHolder_mc.thumbs_mc._y = textLower - textMove;
        imagesHolder_mc.scroller_mc.onPress = function(){
           this.startDrag(false,this._x,scrollUpper,this._x,scrollLower);
           this.onMouseMove = scroll;
        imagesHolder_mc.scroller_mc.onRelease = scroller_mc.onReleaseOutside = function(){
           this.stopDrag();
           this.onMouseMove = null}

    Thanks for your reply. I'll try to explain it better. I have a long, vertically scrolling movie clip. This movie clip contains lots of thumbnails. When I click a thumbnail, the full sized image is loaded from the library and displayed within the same movie clip. when I click the full size movie clip, it disappears again, and I can click another thumbnail to display another full size image. So I'm not just adding more and more stuff to the gallery if that's what you were thinking. I'm just clicking thumbnails to display the full size image so I can look at it, closing it, and moving on.
    But the full sized image is fixed at the very top of the scrolling movie clip, so if I click a thumbnail at the very bottom, I have to scroll all the way back up to the top to see the full size image. I just want the full size image to appear on screen no matter how far down I have scrolled to click a thumbnail.
    I made my basic gallery useing this tutorial:
    http://flashexplained.com/actionscript/making-the-ultimate-dynamic-image-gallery-in-flash- 8/
    if you want to take a look at that, to get an idea of what I'm talking about.
    Now I'm just trying to add some scrolling functionality, which wasn't included, but I don't really understand actionscript well enough to do this easily on my own.
    Sorry for the long reply. I hope this is clearer.

  • How do I make all buttons on stage unclickable, while a certain movie clip is visible?

    Hi,
    I have a button on stage which opens a popup (movie clip is popup + several other buttons). The movie clip and the buttons on it take up most of the stage.
    The problem is that the buttons which are on the stage, and are behind the movie clip, remain clickable (you can click through the movie clip!). How may I disable this?
    Basically, I need to make it that you cannot click through the movie clip.
    Thanks in advance!
    PS I am using CS5 and AS2.

    One way would be to make the movieclip clickable.  That would make it block the other objects behind it...
         mc.onRelease = function(){ }
         mc.useHandCursor = false; // to hide the hand cursor
    Another way would be to disable the buttons while the movieclip is present...
         btn.enabled = false;
    Another way would be to build conditional code into the button clicking code to not work if the movieclip is visible.
         btn.onRelease = function(){
              if(!mc._visible){
                    // okay to do stuff

  • Adding thousands of instances of a movie clip

    I am trying to add around 20,000 instances of a single small
    movie clip (HexTile) from the library into a container Sprite using
    actionscript. The problem is it loads immediately and it loads very
    slowly, so I would like to know if there is a way to preload it?
    The class that adds the movie clip library symbol (World) is not
    the document class, nor is it referenced from the document class. I
    have tried dragging an empty sprite linked to World, and I have
    tried exporting it to other frames as well is preloading it as it's
    own .swf...any suggestions would greatly appreciated! The code
    looks like:

    Hi
    I guess you can one thing. add dummy pre-loader before loop
    and then just hide it after loop ;)

  • Noob help: Triggering Movie Clips with Buttons

    Hi guys,
    I'm taking an intro Flash and Action Script class and for my final I need to create a portfolio project that contains 5 unique buttons that trigger 5 unique movie clips. I'm having a hard time with this. I've been able to trigger the 1st movie clip with the first button (although I can't stop it) but I can't trigger any ohter movies with any other buttons.
    Here's my code:
    stop();
    chuck1_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playMovie);
    function playMovie(event:MouseEvent):void
        spaceship_mc.play();
    chuck2_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,playSaucers);
    function playSaucers(event:MouseEvent):void
        saucers_mc.play();
    Nothing happens when I click on chuck2_btn when I test the movie. I think I need to create a variable or class but I'm not sure. I'm a super noob with this stuff. Any thoughts? Thanks!
    Rick

    You should learn how to use the Help documentation to find answers like how to use the visible property.  For the code you showed earlier, here's what you can try in frame 1 to replace it.
    stop();
    spaceship_mc.visible = false;
    saucers_mc.visible = false;
    slideshow_mc.visible = false;
    chuck1_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playMovie);
    function playMovie(event:MouseEvent):void
         spaceship_mc.visible = true;
         saucers_mc.visible = false;
         slideshow_mc.visible = false;
        spaceship_mc.play();
    chuck2_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,playSaucers);
    function playSaucers(event:MouseEvent):void
         spaceship_mc.visible = false;
         saucers_mc.visible = true;
         slideshow_mc.visible = false;
        saucers_mc.play();
    etc...
    It could be refined, like having a function that hides everything and using that every time before making the one you need to show visible.  You might find it necessary to include telling the movies to gotoAndStop(1) as well.
    That's about as generous as I'm going to get.  It's important that you learn things, and handing you a solution isn't going to help do that.
