Home Link use in  Apex 3.1.2

Hello:
Does anybody know whether the 'Home Link' attribute's manner of use has changed in APEX 3.1.2 ?
With a URL like
http://hostname:port/apex/f?p=101
APEX 3.0 results in the login page being displayed and the URL in the URL window remains the same as the one entered. However, following an upgrade of this application to APEX 3.1.2 entering the URL above, upon displaying the login page changes the URL in the URL window to
http://hostname:port/apex/<home link>
Is this expected behaviour in APEX 3.1.2 ?
Varad

APEX 3.0 results in the login page being displayed and the URL in the URL window remains the same as the one enteredBut after login, you'd end up going to the after login page in the login API call (the page ID part of p_flow_page).
In 3.1.2, we made the after-login page part of p_flow_page optional. If there is no deep link then the home link is used. This also allows a logout URL to omit the page ID in its p_next_flow_page_sess argument since redirecting to f?p=100 will end up using the home link.
All this reduces the number of places where you need to specify the after-login page. Now if you just maintain the home link you should be good.

  • How Can I Remove the Home Link on the Main Page

    I am using PT 8.49 and I am creating a custom page where the only options I'd like to show on the page are my custom menu option and "Sign out" at the top right. I'd like to remove the "Home" link on the top right menu because I am doing the selection for them. I don't want them to be able to go back to the Home menu once they've entered my custom page. I have everything working the way I'd like except that I cannot get rid of the "Home" link. Can anyone help with that?
    I am also using a template in portal called HOMEPAGE_DESIGNER_TEMPLATE as this causes the page to display without the left menu, as I want it to be.
    Thanks for your help!

  • How to bee able to use the anchor functionality as is used in APEX develop

    Hi
    First of all APEX is great !
    I have been using APEX to do some small applications in Norway. Now i am in a position to make a sales presentation for Norwegian Civil Aviation authority department. I hope we winn the contract and then we are going to use APEX for building the system.
    I need to bee able to navigate between many regions on an effective way. We would have the pages with 3-8 regions on each page and it would bee very suitable do have the functionality which is used in APEX Application builder where it is possible to show all regions on the page and then bee able to scroll through all regions on the page.
    But also bee able to user #ANCHOR_NAME at the end of the URL and then just switch to one of the regions (show just one region on the page).
    I have made a test page with use of #ANCHOR_NAME and this is ok, but i don't know how to just hide all other regions when you navigate to the anchor name. In application builder it is very nice when you navigate between regions and when you hit the "Show All" link, all regions is displayed on the same page.
    I also need to have each region the same size in width as in Application Builder, and the theme used in Application builder would also bee nice to used (in another color) is it possible to have a copy of the theme and make some adjustments to it ?.
    I would bee very greatfull for any feed back about this subject. I am going to make a demonstration 19 Descember.
    jon.

    The Builder links you mention at the top of the Component Definition pages use markup like
    < a href="#N" onclick="qF(this,'#N');return false;" ... >Name< /a >That "qF" function is a slick piece of Javascript. You can review it at http://htmldb.oracle.com/i/javascript/htmldb_html_elements.js. The DOM nodes that the function uses are specific to the Builder page template, but the code is fairly generic enough that you can adapt it to meet your needs. [Not sure what your comfort and experience level with Javascript is]
    That function also saves the selected region/section in a client-side cookie so that it persists the next time you visit the page.
    Hope this helps.
    Carl: The following line in the "uR" function seems mighty strange!
    if(gThis == $x('ALL')){gThis = $x('ALL');}

  • [Solved]conky autostart link using kdemod4.3x

    I followed the arch wiki to install conky and the config works fine.  The wiki says to autostart conky $ ln -s usr/bin/conky ~/.kde/share/autostart/conkylink. But I have .kdemod4 not .kde in my home directory.  Trying the above link with ''.kdemod4" instead of ".kde" gave  creating link /home/user/ ~/.kdemod4/share/autostart/conkylink  "no such file or directory"
       Looking at ~/.kdemod4>ls -aF shows ./ ../ Autostart/ cache-myhost@ share/ socket-myhost@ tmp-myhost@.  Autostart is an empty dir. $ cd share shows apps/ config/ and kde4/ .
       How do I create the correct conky link using kdemod4.3 to autostart conky?  Or how to do same with SystemSettings > Advanced.>Autostart in KDE . Thanx:)

    Following another thread by 'pencuse' on 2008-05-12 under Desktop Environments suggested cd to ~/kdemod4/Autostart then ln -s /usr/bin/conky conky.  Now @conky shows under ~/kdemod4/Autostart:).

  • Will apex_application.stop_apex_engine affect other users to use that APEX?

    Hi, guys:
    I wonder if I call apex_application.stop_apex_engine to execute wpg_docload.download_file in order to download RTF file, would it affect other users to use that APEX application at the same time? I checked the article and did experiment, I think it won't, but I still want to get your comments about it.

    Could you give me more detail about the affects on current session? as I found I have no problem to get to other pages through navigation, and I can still use the current page. The apex_application.stop_apex_engine is called at last in the procedure. and the procedure is called when user click one of two links.I think the API documentation and Martin's post fully cover the effects on the current "session" ("request" would be a more accurate term). Is there something specific that's bothering you?
    <tt>apex_application.stop_apex_engine</tt> does not exert any global control over APEX or the current session (see +{thread:id=2401000}+ for previous discussion on this). It simply stops further APEX page processing of the current request. This is necessary because you want to send the contents of a downloaded file, or redirect it to a new resource, not display an APEX page.

  • DB links, Bind variables & APEX reports performance

    Hello,
    So the problem is simply that I have two databases:
    A : Has table T1
    B : (APEX database)
    I have an APEX report that simply does the following
    Select col1, col2.. from A@dblink
    This is abviously straighforward, however, I start having considrable performance issues if I have any filters applied to this query using APEX items ( bind variables) :
    Select col1, col2.. from T1@dblink_A_B
    where col1 > :PX_item
    I ran the explain plan and noticed that using the bind variables forces the query to be done on database B, not A which is causing the performance issues.
    I am sure that many of you ran into this issue before, but does anyone know how to resolve this issue ? I am thinking about using Pipelined functions, but am not sure if that will work well if I have a lot of records returned by the query or if this will resolve the issue at all.... your thoughts are appreciated..
    Thanks,
    Sam

    I've always been able to work around my DB link issues in Apex. As suggested, driving_site hint should be tried. Oracle documentation on it isn't great, but I follow this:
    - don't bother including other hints together with driving_site, as they get stripped out when your sql is passed to the remote DB (as per driving_site hint).
    - if you have have subqueries - specifiy driving_site hint in that section of the SQL too. I don't have any proof that this is really required - but it doesnt hurt.
    - include driving_site hint even if all tables are remote. Careful of refs to pseudo cols like sysdate, user etc. I think they are taken as local refs - not remote. I havent tested this properly to confirm.
    - dumb down your test case to eliminate refs to sysdate, subqueries etc.
    - remember that items are text, so you'd need to do to_number(), to_date() on them where appropriate on them in your SQL at the least.
    Seeing as you control the content of your items, SQL injection is a reduced risk. Assuming that's not your top concern anyway, don't get carried away with the bind-variable vs literals debate. Apex does lots of nasty inefficient stuff like IR searches. I'd never use an IR in something that really needs to be scalable anyway. Soo... construct SQL with littlerals based on your items (assuming item refs are the cause of your issue).
    region type=SQL Query (PL/SQL function body returning SQL query)
    begin
      return 'SELECT /*+ DRIVING_SITE(a) */ a.empno,a.ename,a.job,a.mgr,a.loc
            FROM emp@MY_DBLNK A
           WHERE  a.empno = '||:P123_EMPNO||'
           ORDER BY 1,2,3';
    end;Assuming your queries are expensive to execute (local or remote) and dont return too many records (else collection table can get really big), then caching the resultset in a collection gives you nice fast pagination, when using a PPR report. Keep a watch on the size of the collection table - truncate it manually if you accidentally populate it with a big cartesean product etc, else performance could degrade.
    Do main query to populate collection before header. PPR pagination doesnt reload the page, so before-header process only runs once. In my case it works like:
    -- reload button to re-load page, to force a query re-run. The html_Submit_Progress thing loads an 'busy processing' image.
    <input type="button" value="Run query" onclick="javascript:this.disabled=true;this.value='Running...';html_Submit_Progress(this);"  id="SUBMIT"  />
    -- On Load - before header process to populate collection (call in a regular region to see errors, until ironed out)
    declare
      q varchar2(4000);
      v_t0   PLS_INTEGER := DBMS_UTILITY.get_time;
    begin
       :P0_QSEC := '0';
      IF APEX_COLLECTION.COLLECTION_EXISTS(P_COLLECTION_NAME=> 'Q1')
      THEN
        APEX_COLLECTION.DELETE_COLLECTION(P_COLLECTION_NAME=>'Q1');
      END IF;
      if (:P0_DBLNK is not null) then
        q:= 'SELECT /*+ DRIVING_SITE(a) */ a.empno,a.ename,a.job,a.mgr,a.loc
            FROM emp@'||:P0_DBLNK||' a
           WHERE a.job like "M%"
            AND a.empno = #EMPNO#
           ORDER BY 1,2,3';
        q:= replace(q, '"', '''');
        q:= replace(q, '#EMPNO#', :P123_EMPNO);
        -- bulk
        APEX_COLLECTION.CREATE_COLLECTION_FROM_QUERY_B(
            P_COLLECTION_NAME => 'Q1',
            P_QUERY => Q);
       -- record count
       -- APEX_COLLECTION.collection_member_count
      end if;
      -- display in page footer or whatever
      :P0_QSEC := TO_CHAR ((DBMS_UTILITY.get_time - v_t0) / 100, '000.00') || ' sec';
    exception
      when others then
      raise_application_error(-20501, :P0_DBLNK||'< br >'||sqlerrm||'< br >'||q );
    end;
    -- then PPR report is just like
    Select C001, C002, C003, C004, C005
    From apex_collections
    Where collection_name = 'Q1'

  • Authorization Scheme using the APEX Authentication Scheme

    How would you build an authentication scheme that is using the APEX Authorization scheme. All users are belonging to a group which could be Oracle, External or Developer and I'd like to hide certain pages from the External users.
    I am not sure if I can grab the group name from some V('..') function and make something work?
    Cheers,
    Andy

    I'll give it a try again, sorry for not being able to describe the problem better!
    I am using the APEX built in authorization and authentication to make my life simple with regards to user mgmt. So all the users are managed using the Home>Administration>Manage Application Express Users. Every user belongs to an APEX group (Home>Administration>Manage Application Express Users>User Groups). For example:
    User A belongs to Group External
    User B belongs to Group Oracle
    User C belongs to Group Admin
    Now, there are certaing pages in my application that I want to restrict from the Group External (but the Group Admin and Group Oracle can see them).
    So my question is really how would I build such an Authorization Scheme to accomplish this? Not suer about which APEX API functions I should use to get this data and how to build the function.
    I hope this makes more sense?

  • Home nework using Vista and Windows 7 problem

    my Vista computer does show up the netbook but I am unable to access files even after enabling filesharing and checking firewalls etc.
    Windows 7 will only let me set up a homenetwork with other windows7
    Vista homenetwork shows I am connected but no information.
    anyone any ideas as to what I could do?

    It's probably because your netbook is running the "Starter version" of Windows 7
    http://windowsteamblog.com/windows/b/windows7/archive/2009/05/29/let-s-talk-about-windows-7-starter....
    Sorry, I'm a bit pee'ed off at the minute. I just wrote an informative piece about the history of netbooks and accidently navigated away from this page whilst searching for a link for you.
    Clicking back returned me here with all my write up....." Gone"
    Bah!
    oh well. The starter version of windows 7 iirc doesn't have the capability of home network file sharing.
    An MSCE in computing is like having a McDonalds Certification in World Cuisine, pointless.

  • My Home Link

    I am writing a custom nav where My Pages, My Communities, Directory and Administration are all tabs similar to the Tabbed Left Vertical scheme. I'd like to use the My Home Link as the default link behind the My Communities tab as a community will always be a user's home. Is there a way to get to this link from within a community page?

    You can change the My Home link in the PlumtreeTopBarView class in the com.plumtree.portalpages.common.uiparts package.
    Modify the class and export it in your own jar (e.g. mypackage.jar)Add the JAR to the portal.warUpdate your CustomActivitySpaces.xml file to reference your package<libfile name="mypackage" />

  • Custom Breadcrumb Home Link

    RH9 | Merged WebHelp
    Does anyone know if it's possible to hard-code the URL used by the breadcrumb Home link?
    The reason I ask is that when I launch a child project and click Home I'd like RH to display the default topic for my merged WebHelp, but with the full merged TOC, instead of just displaying the default topic and retaining the TOC of the child project?
    Thanks
    Jonathan

    If the child topic is being launched directly rather than via its start page, then you can have part of what you want.
    When you generate the help there is an option to display the full TOC for child projects. The idea is that when a child project is opened, the full TOC is displayed. Unfortunately it only works when a child topic is called directly, not when you open the child project through its start page.
    The fact that calling the full TOC worked that way was only discovered recently by someone else and I don't know if the Home button then takes you to the parent default topic. You will have to test that and please post back what happens.
    If it fails, there is only one thing I can suggest. Create a new default topic and give it file name like redrabbit.htm as that will not be anywhere in your project. Create a new output and then use a find and replace tool such as FAR to see if you can find that filename in any of the files that RoboHelp creates in the output. Maybe by editing that file you can achieve what you want.
    Needless to say, experiment using a copy of your project.

    "You do not have permission to perform this operation. (WWC-44131)"
    The error page, have in the Upper right page, Home link and Help link.
    My question is, How to Hide HOME link and HELP link in the Page?
    I try to find the template of the page, but failed to do that.
    Can anybody help?..it urgent.

    Modifying the error page is not supported in the current release of Portal (9.0.2). You will be able to do this in the upcoming 9.0.2.6 release, planned for the end of May.
