Home Sharing wasn't turned on on my, now broken computer, that won't start. Now I can't syncronise my iTunes on my new computer with my iPod
I had my iPod connected to a computer that's now broken and now it won't start. Now I can't use Home Sharing on my new computer, since it wasn't turned on on my first computer, and I can't syncronise my iPod with my iTunes library. The only thing I can use iTunes for now, is to hear music from my computer... What can I do?
I'm pretty desperate for help; it would be greatly appreciated!

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPod in recoverymode use one of these programs.
For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
If necessary:
Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
and
RecBoot tip
For MAC or PC
The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

For music that you've purchased from Apple that are on your iPhone you should be able to copy to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. Also if you are in the US then you should be able to re-download past music purchases for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
For your own music that you've copied, then if you haven't got a backup on, for example, external drives or CDs/DVDs then you could see if any of the utilities mentioned in this old post still exist and work -

Your music will be where you put it.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a abckup copy of your computer.
If you have failed to do this then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries.

You need to copy the entire /Musci/iTunes/ folder from old computer to new computer. -

The instruction page says to go to the Advanced menu option of ITunes and choose Home Sharing. This option does not exist. The closest I can find is under the File option>Home Sharing where my only option is to turn off home sharing. There is no home sharing icon and Apple TV insist that the home sharing is not turned on.

i am having trouble home sharing i have turned it off and on again it worked on my 4s before i backed everything up and switched to the 5s the home share is not even an option when i open music or videos on either of my phones

Do I download itunes on my new computer before trying to home share with my old itunes account from my old computer?
Install iTunes.
Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.
Using Home Sharing will only cause problems. Search the forums, people regularly post here regarding problems with moving media using Home Sharing, it simply is not reliable. -

MacBook Air won't start up even though it's fully powered. The white screen with the apple logo appears when I turn it on, then it shuts right back down. Can someone help me?

I am trying to use the Home Sharing capabilities on my MacBook and my sister's HP Envy. I have turned Home Sharing both On and Off via Advance in the drop down from the top menu. When I turn Home Sharing Off then back On, it asks me for the Apple ID so I provide the same one on both then it tells me a little blurb about Home Sharing and I hit Done then the Share section on the left side of iTunes disappears. Where does it go and how do I make it come back? Thanks for yor help!

HT3819 why does home sharing seem to turn off randomly?
It always happens at some point, sometimes 2 or 3 times during the same movie or music mix and I invariably have to go to my Macbook and turn off home sharing then turn it back on.... It never seems to be my comcast provider or wireless router. So what is the fix???

Here is a little gem for troubleshooting Home Sharing in iTunes called Troubleshooting Home Sharing found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2972.
I recommend starting at step 4:
4. Check your network connection
5. Check Firewall Settings
6. Quit and reopen apps and iTunes
7. Restart your network router

I wouldn't use Home Sharing for this. These are two possible approaches that should work.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase are reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.

I tried setting up my home sharing on itunes but after doing so on both computers with same id and password, it still does not show the same material as in movies on both imacs, what am I doing wrong or how do I fix.
Look in Home Video or change the tags in iTunes to Movies.

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)
Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)
