Home Sharing will not work with my Windows 8 64bit with new itunes. All of my Apple TVs will not see my library and my iphones will not function with the "Remote" App. They all did before. Only thing that has changed is new PC/itunes. Any Ideas?
Installed a new Windows PC on my home network. PC is Windows 8/64bit. with latest version of itunes 11.1.4.62 for 64bit. My itunes works, but I can not get Home Sharing to function now. None of my Apple TV's can see my computer library and prompt me to turn it on. All of my iphones, pods, pad, can not use the "Remote" app. When you prompt your phone in Remote App to "add library" and you get the code....iTunes doesnt give you the remote screen where you can enter the code. I have reloaded iTunes, reset my router, updated all devices. You can turn on "Home Sharing" on iTunes, but then it closes and doesnt seem to link my devices like it use to. Also, when the new version of iTunes is up on my PC, you can see the other devices to AirPlay to like you could before. However, I can send items from my iphone to stream to an Apple TV, I just cant link them all like I could before and control the music playing to multiple Apple TV. Growing fustrated. Any ideas, would be helpful.

You are a legend!! I have spent countless hours uninstalling, reinstalling itunes, playing with firewall settings, reading articles on this problem!! I only have to un-sync my iphone 5 and then the airplay icon magically appeared!!! Maybe I have too many devices syncing via wi-fi, or maybe it is the Iphone syncing??
Whatever - one step and now I can enjoy my music through my house again!

I connected my wifi to my iMac and was asked if I wanted to download the most current update. I backed up my iPod and did the download. My iPod was able to connect to the internet at my friend's house, but it hasn't been able to connect since then, and the connection to wifi is grayed out. Nothing has changed with the network; just the updated software.

Please help.First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. -
I bought a second apple tv and would like to control it with the remote app but cannot find a way to add a second device. Anyone have an idea how to do that?
I'm having the same issue and would like to get some help. I set up a second Apple TV in our bedroom and wanted to be able to control it using my iPhone like I do with the Apple TV in the living room. The new Apple TV is active on the network and I've made sure the same Apple ID is used for both the Apple TV as well as the Remote App on my iPhone. I'm just wondering what I might be overlooking.

I have a Windows 7 Desktop and home sharing won't work to my Windows 8 laptop?
My Windows 7 computer is recongnizing my laptop for home sharing, but my Windows 8 laptop won't recognize the home sharing with the desktop. Both computers are authorized and home sharing is on. HELP! I followed the process on the "How to move your music to a new computer" page.

iPad used to open iBooks purchased off iTunes no problems but since I took my iPad overseas on holiday it no longer opens iBooks - they appear to download ok but when I tap to open the book I get an error message saying the book isn't formatted correctly or is in a format that iBooks doesn't recognise. I have tried
- deleting and reloading iBooks
- making all updates have been done
- turning on and off airplane mode
And still have the problems
Did ask iTunes help but so far no joy - appreciate help pleaseOk, I got the 1.3/1.4 thing straight now. There was a java.exe in System32 that I now see the PATH was calling first.
And in the TextPad version of the problem, I was curious -- I don't remember setting the specification of the executable called by the Run Tool button, but I must have at some point. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it and it created a default button that apparently points to what it's supposed to point to, since it now works and runs my program OK.
Still, I wonder how it can be that explicitly directing the button to C:\j2sdk1.4.0\bin\java.exe makes TextPad's Command Results Window say "NoClassDefFoundError"
I'm up and working now, but if anyone has a clue I can learn from on the TextPad issue, thanks -

Please follow the steps:
1. Turn off the iMessage and FaceTime.
2. If your tel # are not yet addeded to your contact list please do so. Make sure that you select iPhone not mobile.
3. Change your My Info(Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendar>My Info) by selecting your created contact.
4. Go to Setting>Phone. Check if your number is reflected in My Number. Then turn on your Show My Caller ID and also the International Assist.
5. make sure that your apple ID are login in Store under Settings.
6. Once your done, close all apps using the double tapping of home button.
7. Hard reset your iPhone.
8. After your iPhone boot. Check if you have Internet connection and then turn on your FaceTime then iMessage.
9. Activate by logging in your apple ID.
10. Done and enjoy the features of IOS5.Is it off in Settings>Messages?
Is the Date & Time correct on your iPhone? if not, it won't be able to make secure connections.
Try testing on another Wi-Fi network.

I lost my physical remote for Apple TV and the Remote apps on all my other devices no longer control it. What can I do?

Apple Tv (3rd generation) says it is connected (via ethernet), but none of the app, or channels, will work. They all say they are unvailable, try again later. The only thing that seems to work is iTunes. (I live in a dorm if that helps)
Its not properly connected to the network. Most school networks require login via webpage, which isn't possible as ATV has no browser. You will need to contact the IT dept or the network provider.

I just got my new i phone 5 s and did all the syncing and backing up for my old iphone 4s and set my 5 up and synced it on itunes. It synced evrything but the contacts and other minor things. those were the only things that really transfered. My apps and all my music did not. Tthe thing is when i just went to go manually start dowmloading a few of the songs that i knew i already bought , itunes is making me pay forthem again. Its not saying instal like it usuall does when you go download something aleady purchased on your itunes account. I think or thought it might have something to do with the fact that i just changed my apple id name right before i got my new phine but my apps all re-downloaded (manually-no syncing) without making me pay for them again. i dont want to have to purchase allllll my songs again. Can someone please help me!! Itried going back to my old id or signing out of this id and signing in as my old apple id but now it wot even get on that oneits likjeit doesnt exist anymore.. No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that. -
Home sharing does not work as standard windows user
I have two computers in my home network - Windows 7 Professional Desktop and a Windows 7 Professional Laptop.
Both running latest itunes 11 software.
Win7 Desktop has two accounts: Administrator and JB (a standard user)
Win7 Laptop has two accounts: Administrator and JB (a standard user)
Home Sharing is enabled on both using the same apple ID.
I can log in on the desktop as JB/standard user and see my apple TV.
I can log in on my laptop as JB/standard user and do NOT see my apple TV ( the airplay icon is just missing).
Additionally - I do not see "shared" libraries on either machine.
On the laptop, if i open itunes by "run as administartor" I am then able to see the other "shared library" and ALSO see the apple tv Airplay icon.
Not able to figure out why I cant see home sharing or the apple tv Airplay icon unless I run as an administrator on the laptop.Our Apple TVs continue to lose connection ever since installing Mountain Lion on the host computer. The only thing that fixes them is to quit and relaunch iTunes, which only works unti the ATV goes to sleep. If a movie is paused for more than a few minutes and the ATV goes to sleep, pressing play again on the remote is greeted with "There are no movies on this computer" or "Turn on Home Sharing."
If we stop a video on one ATV and attempt to resume it in another room, the error begins again. The other ATV can't connect until iTunes is relaunched.
My guess is that it has something to do with the new [annoying] security settings. But I still haven't found a fix other than restarting iTunes everytime we want to watch something from our downloads. Fail. -
I have some trouble with Safari!
Everytime i google something, I expect safari to open the link i click in the same window and same tab - as it did before - but now it always opens a new tab! I'm getting really tired of that! So please help me! I want safari to open the google search link in the same window and tab! How to fix that?

My iTunes, after a short time, decides not to be able to recognize my devices, the only thing that fixes it is a re-install of itunes. it is getting irritating as this will be the 7th time i have had to do it. Any solutions?
The info that was on the old iPhone can only be retreived either by restoring from iCloud/iTunes back up or syncing from iCloud. You need to chek these places and if nothing is there then I'm sorry that data is gone and you will only have the back ups you see.

Recently updated the the apple tv remote app for my iPhone4. Now can no longer turn on the apple tv "box" on/off using iPhone app as I used to do before the update. Only thing that shows on iPhone screen is music library. Home Sharing is on. Any help appreciated. Sorry if this is not exactly the right place to post this!
One clue: I have found a reliable way to solve the problem when it happens.
In my network, I have the main Airport Extreme (Gen 1) which is connected to my router, which distributes IP addresses to my internal subnet. The other two AEs (one Gen 4, one Gen 5) are set to extend the network.
When I get this problem with an AppleTV 2 that can "see" my library, but when I try to open it, it says it couldn't find the library, it seems to have to do with a change in which Airport Extreme it's talking to.
If I restart the main Airport Extreme from the Airport Utility, effectively restarting the entire wireless network, then when the network resumes, every AppleTV 2 is happy again.
Unfortuntely, the problem does seem to recur - but I'm wondering if it's because temporary interference leads an AppleTV 2 to try to connect to a different AE, and somehow that's mucking with the Home Sharing. Remember, internet access (Trailers, Store, Netflix) have no issues. Purely Home Sharing.

Pls take note that my IPad 3 used to find my printer HP wireless D110. The only thing that I did was to update to IOS 7. Do you think this is the reason why my iPad cannot find my wireless printer?

To change the iCloud account on your phone you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone. When you delete the account you will be given the option to either keep or delete the iCloud data from your phone. This also, only deletes the account and the iCloud data from your phone, not from iCloud. Your husband's phone won't be effected by this. Then, to create a separate account, sign back in with a different Apple ID (you can continue to share the same ID for iTunes).
If you have any photo stream photos that you want to keep on the phone, save them to your camera roll before deleting the account.
If you're sharing the same ID for iMessage and FaceTime you'll end up getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls. To prevent this, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your new iCloud ID. Then do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.
