How a Synonym works in APEX

I have been trying to set up a table for users to Insert, Update, or delete. This table is in a synonym from another schema and I can't get it to show up how I would like so that the users can modify the table.
When I look at the synonym from the Object Browser, I can not see any fields, Is this Correct?
I would like to show the fields for this table in a tabular form for update, but the forms only accepts tables unless you use a SQL query, Is there a way to show a synonym's fields in a form for Update, Insert, or delete?
Whwn I use a sql query for the synonym, no values shw up when I run the form, any reason why?

Hi,
i don't have a clue, i mean, without seeing the application it's hard to say.
Clearly you need to find and replace each and every occurrence of the dummy table name and put the name of the synonym, along with the name of the primary key.
I never tried to use rowid as primary key, so i cannot say if that works or not, i'd stay on the safe side and define a primary key on the table, a simple ID column with a sequence number (you can use it inside a trigger or let apex use the sequence directly).

Hi,
I have tried creating a shuttle type control in Apex 3.1. I have based it on a list of Items from my Items table. I can move Items from the left side to the right, and from there I can move them up & down, but whatever I do only seems to affect the page display and has no effect on my tables.
Can anyone explain how this control works and what it's meant to do? Could I, for example, use it to copy records from one table to another?

The Shuttle is a type of multi-select. It produces a comma delimited string of your selected values. It is useful in wizards, where you need to select multiple items from a single list (like selecting columns from a table). You can also use it against a 'real' table if you have not normalized. Let's say you have a table that stores meetings and one column lists the people invited. You could use a shuttle to select invitees (using an lov from your people table).

How does shuttles work? How are values transferred from the left list to the right list. Is there a hidden table for the list on the right? How does APEX knows which values were selected (in the list on the right)?

Shuttles use JavaScript to move data from one item to another.
If you add a shuttle to a page, there will actually be two items generated on that page: P1_SHUTTLE_LEFT & P1_SHUTTLE_RIGHT. You can simply refer to the shuttle as P1_SHUTTLE; APEX uses the other two names as it shuttles items back and forth.
Since all of this shuttling takes place in the browser, there is no need for any temporary database tables.

How do I work with FK in a data profile?

I am new in OWB tools and I have many doubts. Therefore, I would like to know if anyone can guide me a bit with the theme of FK and profiles.
How do I work with FK in a data profile?
If I have a table that has a FK to most of the tables, because it is like a parent table. What should I do to have that FK in the profile?
e.g.
- Table 1 FK Table 2
- Table 1 FK Table 3
- Table 1 FK Table 4
- Table 1 FK Table 5
- Table 1 FK Table 6
- Table 2 FK Table 7
- Table 2 FK Table 8

You should have a data profile with each table or a data profile for all related tables?
If I am all in a single profile, that it would have no problem but I would only slow every time that I have to add a new table, but if I got separated, I can not use the FK? What is the solution that will give this problem?

This is not a complaint, but a confused sigh of admiration. I've got an email account at the university where I teach. When I got my iBook, it took me a while, and a few conversations with IT at the school, to get this account working in the Mail application. (Since I have a Verizon DSL at home, I had to include that SMTP as the outgoing server.) Anyway, I synched this mail account (along with my AOL and .Mac accounts) onto the iPhone, and it works perfectly, both incoming and outgoing. I didn't have to change any of the settings. I thought I was computer savvy, but I can't wrap my mind around this. It seems like magic. How does it work?

Honestly? In the US (I can't speak to other countries, though I doubt it works much differently in a lot of the world) The police took your report and filed it either in their computers or, on paper. They will now not think of this again. The only time it will cross anyones mind is if, in the course of entering information into evidence about items recovered or seized at a crime scene, the serial number of an iPhone that was found/seized happens to match yours, in which case you will be contacted.
The police in the US can and will do nothing to 'blok' the phone and it's not worth their time to try and locate it unless you know for a fact that it was stolen by a big time drug lord, master criminal, or some other such prime target and they can get a court order to track the location of the phone in order to locate this individual for your own purposes. If they do that, they'll probably keep him under surveilance for a year or so before they act.
Basically, the police don't care about your phone. If they find it, they will give it back to you. They are not, however, going to go looking for it. They have better things to do.

You need to ask the people who sold it to you. Doesn't sound like it has anything to do with Reader.
However, you should be wary of devices that automatically try to open files when plugged in. They can also infect your computers with all kinds of viruses or malware.

You need to transfer the iTunes Library from the most recent backup you made before the hard drive was replaced.
You can't transfer the full iTunes Library from the iPad back to iTunes.
There are third-party Windows applications that will transfer data from an iOS device, but they don't re-create the iTunes Library exactly as it was before.

SkillBuilders Modal Page is not working in Apex 4.2

Hi All,
I am trying to set up an example in apex.oracle.com of an application developed in Apex 4.1 and the SkillBuilders Modal Page plug-in is not working.
To show this situation, I created a simplified version of the application, with only two pages, in apex.oracle.com.
Workspace: EDIAZJORGE
Username: TEST
Password: test123
Application: 66464 - Modal Page Sample
When Page 3 loads, a Dynamic Action is executed to open Page 2 (Interactive Report) as a modal page, but it is not working (the modal page does not open).
Please notice that this is working in Apex 4.1, and the Embed in Frames property in my application is set to Allow.
I appreciate any help.

This is due to a change that was made to the Dynamic Actions framework in 4.2. The workaround for now is to change your event to resource load on the DOM window object.
It's working now. In the next release of the plug-in you'll be able to go back to the Page Load (ready) event.

Oracle dbms.set_role does not work in APEX application

Hi, in our j2ee applications, we use secure application role. Basically, the data source use the app user schema to connect to the database. the app user only has create session privileges. the database logon trigger will copy a set of attribute to the local secure context. (ip address, session user, client id, application name). The applications explicitly invoke the stored procedure sec_mgr.set_role before any DMLs are executed.
the sec_mgr.set_role will check the local context attribute , authorize the ip, application name, and set an appreciated role to this session based on session user.
we want to apply the same framework to the APEX application. First, we change the paring schema to the app schema which only has create session privilege. then we put the plsql code in which sec_mgr.set_role is called in the application builder --> shared components ---> edit security attribute ---> Virtual Private Database (VPD).
however, we got the error ORA-06565: cannot execute SET ROLE from within stored procedure
the sec_mgr.set_role is defined as invoker's right(AUTHID CURRENT_USER)
do i missing something in APEX to get it work?

Please explain it does not work in APEX? Is the application updating tables that have a trigger? APEX does NOT override trigger actions. Is it possible the values your trigger is looking for are NOT available in your APEX application? Can you post the trigger code here for review?

You cannot merge two separate libraries across user accounts. Photos does not have the function of merging different Photos.library files. If you have Aperture then you can merge the two before migrating over to Photos.
