    I guess, you are using Oracle 9i Database Release 9.2.0.2 and the Table which you need to alter is in OLTP environment where data is usually inserted using regular inserts. As a result, these tables generally do not get much benefit from using table compression. Table compression works best on read-only tables that are loaded once but read many times. Tables used in data warehousing applications, for example, are great candidates for table compression.

    i would like to extend the dynamic columns example coming with XML Publisher MSWord plugin.
    the example produces a table like:

    i would like to have an output like this:

    one big header cell for the value- and adjacent percentage-column together.
    (the percentages can either be calculated in the template or they could be
    part of the XML. e.g. <PercOfStudents>2</PercOfStudents> as an additional child
    of the <TestScore> group.
    is this possible?
    how could i add an adjacent column to each dynamic column?

  • Can I add-up a column of figures in Pages?

    Hi Everyone,
    I have used MSWord for many years to produce reports that include:  item number, photo image, narrative description, and a monetary figure, using tables and borders.  I manage to add rows that automatically add the next item number, and the final cell at the bottom of the columns has a formula that when I right-click I can select 'Update' which then calculates the column of figures above.  It does this over however many sheets I need.  Can I replicate something similar in Pages?  I find the normal help menu less than intuitive.

    Here's how I would go about duplicating your Word table, in Pages...
    Choose 1 Header Row and 1 Footer Row for your table. You do this in the Headers and Footer section of the Table Inspector, Table Tab. You will but your column descriptions in the Header Row and any summary functions in the Footer Row.
    In the Footer Row cell for the column with the figures, enter: =SUM(B), where B is your column id. The way this works is that Header Rows and Footer Rows are excluded from the function, so everything between the header and footer are summed.
    The next thing to know about iWork tables is that if every body row has the same equations in it, then you can add rows and the equations will be duplicated in the new row. The body rows are the ones between the Header rows and the Footer rows.
    So, if you can write an expression to generate your item numbers, that expression will be carried to new rows automatically. Let's say your first item is in row 2, the first body row, and you want to assign that item the number "1". In row 2 of the Item Number column, you could write: =row()-1
    If you copy that expression (or use the Fill tool) to the rest of the body rows, new rows will inherit that expression.
    Regarding the multi-page character of your document, you need to know that only Inline table can flow across a page boundary. Floating Tables are limited to one page in length.

    ListView or
    DataGridView.

    Easy text Report is for saving to a file. Do you mean you just want to add the totals of two arrays and write that? In that case I would just append the totals before writing to file.

    What do you mean by adding Multiple columns? JCombobox is a component in which you can choose a value from a list(rows) of values. Could you please explain why do you want multiple columns in the JComboBox. I suppose JComboBox is not meant for that.

    How can I add a field to a Repeating Frame in the body of an Oracle 9i Report whose source is in a higher group?
    I want to change an Oracle 9i report. The report has no header or trailer but only a body. The body has the parent frame fields & a repeating frame with four fields, A, B, C & D. They all seem to be in one group. I want to add another field E to the repeating frame whose source is from the 'header'.
    I added the field & created a boiler plate & then added the new field, E to the original group A, B, C & D. In the Property Inspector for the field, I pointed the source to the source column in the main query. However, when I run the report, I receive the error "Invalid body size". Some notes on Metalink indicate that this could be due to margins being out of the printable area.
    Moreover, after making the changes & after having unsuccessfully run the report, when I try to open the Page Layout for the report, I get no details.

    I am using JHeadstart, but have a question probably more in the ADF area. On the JHeadstart forum I asked:
    "I am overriding JhsApplicationModule's advancedSearch in order to be able to search in childtables. I created transient attributes, display those in advanced search and in the overridden method I check if any of these are filled by the user and create a where clause like 'EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM <childtable> WHERE <column in childtable> = <column in EO's table> AND <another column in childtable> LIKE '<value supplied by user>)'. I add this whereclause using ViewObject.setWhereClause.
    So far so good and it works. However, if the user selects 'Result matches any criteria', combining setWhereClause and the normal advancedSearch QueryByExample implementation using ViewCriteriaRow do not provide the desired result, since the ViewCriteria and the setWhereClause are AND-ed together, which is fine if the user selects the (default) "Results match all criteria" (everything is AND-ed) but not the "Result matches any criteria", since then every criterium is OR-ed together, except for the setwhereclause criteria and the set of ViewCriteriaRows, they are AND-ed.
    I looked if I could specify that a WhereClause will be OR-ed to existing applied ViewCriteria, but no luck. Do I have to rewrite also advancedSearch's ViewCriteria implementation and write an entire setWhereClause implementation to be able to "OR" every criterium? Or any other suggestions? Can I look at the entire Where clause and rewrite it (after applyCriteria and setWhereClause are called on the VO)?

    To simplify the test case, you could create a simple ADF BC test client class in a test Model project without JHeadstart (in the test class, use bc4jclient + Ctrl-Enter), in which you first apply a few ViewCriteriaRows to a View Object and also add a where clause.
