I have an Early 2011" macbook pro 13 inch (core i5 2.3ghz 4gb ram 320hdd) with Mountain Lion 10.8.2, and I want to connect it via Mini DP to HDMI connector, and a HDMI cable to a LCD TV LG 32LD340. When I had Lion OS, I had no problems at all.

If you have an external drive equal to or larger than your internal HD, clone your internal to it with either Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper. Test the clone to make sure it's bootable. Then upgrade either one. Try it out first.

Understand that 2009 MBPs and earlier do not support audio via DVI or minidisplay port. You would have to tap the audio output port with a cable such as this:

Some mikes have sufficient output to connect to this port, Alexey, but most don't. the solution, if you really want to use this particular mic, is to obtain a small battery or mains powered pre-amplifier to connect between the microphone and the line -in input. Alternatively there are devices which will allow you to connect your existing mic through the USB port. If you have an amplifier with a mic input already you could also use this as an intermediary, though it won't be very portable, of course!
You may find it cheaper to simply buy either a USB or "line level" mic, though.

So I just got a new macbook pro 13inch and installed lion on it. I want to get windows 7 on it but I only have a upgrade copy of it so I was wanting to install windows vista and then upgrade it to windows 7. Problem im having is bootcamp wont help since it says it needs to be windows 7 that i install so when im in vista i cant really get anywhere because it wont run the windows 7 utility exe. Any ideas? You can't install Vista so you'll need a full copy of Windows 7 to install.

How can I tell if my 2011 Macbook Pro is using faster graphics option?

It's the 15 inch 2.2GHz model. Is there any way to tell when it's using the faster graphics option? I ask this because I experienced a lot of slowdown using Photoshop Elements 9 today (4GB of RAM I would have thought would run this no problem whatsoever). The only thing I can think is that the MBP isn't switching to the best graphics option.
Secondly, are there any disadvantages to turning on faster graphics at all times, other than battery?

I can not think of any other disadvantage, it will however run a little warmer.
You can look at your Activity Monitor.app (app/utilities/) to view your system memory for some perspective.

Hello! So here are the specs.
I have an Early 2011 MacBook Pro, which came with OSX 10.6.6 by default.
I've lost my installer disk so I though I'd buy a retail one from the online Apple Store, and version 10.6.3 is what they sent me.
Simply running the install OSX app won't work, I get a msg saying:
-- You can't use this version of the application "Install Mac OS X" with this version of OS X. You have "Install Mac OS X" 23.1.1. --
So, I've tried booting from the new disk hoping to erase my current drive and install Snow Leopard, but no can do, I get 3 beeps and have to force shutdown (not RAM related, see below). Laptop works fine when I spare it this maneuver.
After some research I understand 2 things:
1. Only the original installer disk will let me restore factory settings (and I don't have it).
2. I can only install the default OSX (10.6.6) or a later version (that 10.6.3 DVD may not have the correct drivers for my system).
Are these conclusions right? If so, would the Apple Store replace my disk for an updated 10.6.6. one? If not, then what are my options?

I have an Early-2011 Macbook Pro that Apple states can support two Apple Thunderbolt displays in series (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5219) but I can't find any information on running two DisplayPort displays in series. I assume that Thunderbolt uses DisplayPort 1.2 which includes the link capabilities but I am not sure as I don't really understand the difference between DP and TB that well.
The displays I would be looking at using are the Dell U2414H (http://accessories.ap.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=au&cs=aubsd1&l=en&s=bsd& sku=391-BBNC&redirect=1) which have DP in and out options.
Does anyone know if this will be possible? I don't really have a way to test this myself unfortunately.

I'm curious if you got this configuration working as I'd like to use the same setup (early 2011 MacBook Pro 17" + dual Dell U2414H through daisy chaining the MacBook Pro Thunderbolt port through the monitor displayports).
Apple says you can only have a DisplayPort monitor (Mini Display Port in this case), at the end of the chain, with a Thunderbolt device in between. I'm hoping this is either outdated or just not fully supported but still works.

There are 4 HDMI-in ports on the receiver - BD, DVD, DVR/BDR and audio. In my system preferences for sound, the receiver doesn't show up as an output option. Can anyone please advise. For sound, try the audio output port and connecting to the RCA audio input ports on your Pioneer receiver. Use something like this:
