How can I extract tag value of XML

I have the xml above and a need to extract value of any tag.
I think with regular expression I could get the desire result.
And I could work eoth XMLTYPE with I can identify if if LEAF TAG or not( and then use EXTRACT or EXTRACTVALUE functions correctly )
declare
v_xml varchar2(1000); --> with xmltype I can extrac the label of tag with SQL function EXTRACT
begin

• Extracting Tag Value from XML returned when a web service via PL/SQL

All,
Good afternoon.
I have a PL/SQL that called a web service. The code is as below:
create or replace procedure soap3 as
soap_request varchar2(30000);
soap_respond varchar2(30000);

I do not understand what this output actually means as what the webservice returns is meant tio be a XML with a signature tag that contain an image of customers signature.
Please I need help.

Thanks for the responses thus far , but I think i need to properly define my problem so will be able to help me better.
I have a webservice with the definition below :
POST /NigMailService/nigmailservice.asmx HTTP/1.1
Host: 10.2.15.157
Content-Type: text/xml; charset=utf-8
Content-Length: length
SOAPAction: "http://tempuri.org/GetImageDataTable_HT"

<soap:Envelope xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
<soap:Body>
<GetImageDataTable_HT xmlns="http://tempuri.org/">
<BranchCode>int</BranchCode>
<CustomerNumber>int</CustomerNumber>
<CurrencyCode>int</CurrencyCode>
<LedgerCode>int</LedgerCode>
<SubAccountCode>int</SubAccountCode>
<ChequeNumber>int</ChequeNumber>
<ClientCode>string</ClientCode>
<wantedImageTypes>int</wantedImageTypes>
<wantedImageSize_InPercent>int</wantedImageSize_InPercent>
</GetImageDataTable_HT>
</soap:Body>
</soap:Envelope>
and sample response :
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Content-Type: text/xml; charset=utf-8
Content-Length: length

<soap:Envelope xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
<soap:Body>
<GetImageDataTable_HTResponse xmlns="http://tempuri.org/">
<GetImageDataTable_HTResult>xmlxml</GetImageDataTable_HTResult>
</GetImageDataTable_HTResponse>
</soap:Body>
</soap:Envelope>
My aim is to write a PL/SQL that will call the webservice and recieve the response which is definately a XML with an image that is meant to be written to a file in PL/SQL.
Please how can i achieve this ?

• How can I extract the values on the automatically scaled Y axis?

Hi everyone,
In DIAdem script I'm trying to set the scaling of the Y axis completely automatically, and I want to take the values found automatically in one row and have them be the scale of another row.
I want to leave the scaling type (D2AxisYScaleType) as: "complete automatic", is there a way to extract the scaling (end and begin) found automatically on a certain row in the report (say row number 1) and use it as the scaling of another row (say row 3)?

Hi nkm10,
try following:
Dim xBegin, xEnd, xSpan
'First 2D-Axis System
Call GraphObjOpen("2DAxis1")
Call GraphObjOpen("2DAxis1_XAxis1")
xBegin = D2AxisXBegin
xEnd = D2AxisXEnd
xSpan = D2AxisXSpanWidth
Call GraphObjClose("2DAxis1_XAxis1")
Call GraphObjClose("2DAxis1")
' Second 2D-Axis System
Call GraphObjOpen("2DAxis2")
Call GraphObjOpen("2DAxis2_XAxis1")
D2AxisXDivMode = "linear"
D2AxisXScaleType = "begin/end manual"
D2AxisXBegin = xBegin
D2AxisXEnd = xEnd
D2AxisXSpanWidth = xSpan
Call GraphObjClose("2DAxis2_XAxis1")
Call GraphObjClose("2DAxis2")
It was working fine for me. So you read the data from one axis-system where you want to geht the data from and set the second one according to that.
I hope this helps,

• How to read the tag values sent by PCo to MII transaction

Hi everybody,
I have an Agent created inside PCo and its listening to a data server. I have also created a notification object which triggers my MII Transaction (after certain condition is getting fulfilled).
Now, I want to pass certain values from PCo to MII using the notification object. For this I have tried 2 options:
1. I defined one input parameter in transaction of type 'XML'. But this did not work. When I used 'Tracer' to check the received values, it showed empty.
2. Since XML variable did not work, I tried with 'String' variable. It worked but the entire input data was in 'String' format.
Actually I used XML_Saver to save the string and given filename as '.xml'. When I opened that xml file, it was looking like this:
<<unable to write XML here>>
Considering the above 2nd option, how can I extract the particular 'Tag' values from XML string. Since the string is not in the format of 'Rowset/Row/Row', I cannot specifically assign/map those tag values to any other variable inside MII transaction.
===========

Hi, I was trying to post the xml string. It was not possible yesterday (because, SDN editor has converted xml part into some irregular string).
Now, I am trying to post the string by removing the special characters. Please try to understand it.
Now, my question is how to retrieve the CDATA value 5599999999 using xpath. Please help.

• How can I extract ? Please help me.........

First of all, I am very new user to XML and also Java. If my question is nonsense, forgive me, please.
I would like to test that the string in the node are equal with some string that I want to search. I use DOM API.
The following code are ok for the node is directly included text CDATA. The program gives the true value. In the following simple code, I tried to search the string "ACTI".
for example; the node, Problem in Activity , I got "true".
But I would like to match also the node ,
<SLOT label="slot" kind="a/o" role="occurs in" class_constraint="Activity" >
There is also "Activity" string value in class_constraint.
So how can I extract and match that string data?
Help me please!
case Node.CDATA_SECTION_NODE:
System.out.println(node.getNodeValue());
if (node.getNodeValue() != null) {
String aa = (node.getNodeValue().toUpperCase());
if ( (aa.indexOf("ACTI") >= 0))
System.out.println("true");
else
System.out.println("false");
<CONCEPT>
Problem in Activity
<SLOTS>
<SLOT label="slot" kind="a/o" role="occurs in" class_constraint="Activity" >
</SLOT>
</SLOTS>
</CONCEPT>

Thank you very much for your help.
I do appreciate your reply.
As I gave my code example in my first post, I parse the XML document and I checked each node whether it is CDATA Node or Document Node, Element Node, and so on.. I used CASE statement.
If it is CDATA node, I compare Node value and the string I want to search.
At that time, I faced the problem that you solved already, I didn't know how to compare in attribute node.
With your suggestion, I can compare now.
But the problem now is that... when I extract element by tag name, it cannot test node by node.
So, how can I combine these two code?
Actually, what I am going to do is that if node is not match (in anywhere) with the string what I want to search starting from parent node to all child nodes, I want to delete that node starting from parent node and it's childs. And I want to create a new XML document by deleating unmatched nodes.
For example, in the following XML, I would like to delete the second <CONCEPT> node while I search for "Acti" string. There is no "Acti" in the second.
<CONCEPT>
Problem in Activity
<SLOTS>
<SLOT label="slot" kind="a/o" role="occurs in" class_constraint="Design" >
<SUB_L label="" def="" role_name="" class_const="Activity" />
</SLOT>
<SLOT label="slot" kind="a/o" role="occurs in" class_constraint="Const" >
<SUB_L class_const="Activity" />
</SLOT>
</SLOTS>
</CONCEPT>
<CONCEPT>
Problem in REQ
<SLOTS>
<SLOT label="slot" kind="a/o" role="occurs in" class_constraint="Req" >
<SUB_L class_const="Change" />
</SLOT>
</SLOTS>
</CONCEPT>

• How can I return multiple values with PL/SQL Web Services

Hi,
I'm new to developping Web Services. I'm doing some tests with JDeveloper and OC4J on my local machine with a Web Services based on a PL/SQL function within a package. Right now that function only returns one value. So the xml response only has one output.
I'd like to know how can I return multiple values with my PL/SQL Web Service. For example, if I want to return an employee's name and id? And that the xml contains two output : <employee>, <empid>?
Reginald
ps : I have searched the forum and I couldn't find an answer to this question, if that has been discussed AND answered before, can you please post the link? Thanks

Alright, I actually found my answer. Since this was asked I think as a followup somewhere else I'll give my answer.
It is very simple, all you have to do is create an Object Type and then Return that object type. After that, JDeveloper will take care of everything and you will have an xml response with multiple values. Here
{color:#ff0000}
create or replace TYPE person AS OBJECT
( id_interv number,
first_name VARCHAR2(50),
last_name VARCHAR2(50),
date_birth date
);{color}
Then your function used in your Web Service should look something like this :
{color:#ff0000}
function info_emp (p_empno IN VARCHAR2) RETURN person AS
l_emp person := person(-1,'','','');
BEGIN
SELECT first_name
,last_name
,emp_no
INTO l_emp.first_name
,l_emp.last_name
,l_emp.emp_no
FROM emp
WHERE upper(emp_no) = upper (emp_no);
{color}
{color:#ff0000}
RETURN l_emp;
EXCEPTION WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN
l_emp := person (-1,'n/a','n/a','n/a');
RETURN l_emp ;
END info_emp;{color}
{color:#ff0000}{color:#000000}After that, this is what the xml response looks like :{color}{color}
<first_name xsi:type="xsd:string">John</first_name>
<last_name xsi:type="xsd:string">Doe</last_name>
<emp_no xsi:type="xsd:string">0250193</emp_no>

• How can I pass a value into a page fragment?

How can I pass a value into a page fragment?
I am implementing four search screens. And the only thing different about them will be their backing bean.
So I’d like to do something like have four pages, each which retrieves its appropriate backing bean, sets that bean to a variable, and then includes a page fragment which contains the generic search page code (which will make use of that variable).
The code in the four pages would be something like this:

<jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.0"
xmlns:c="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core">
<jsp:directive.page contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1252"/>
<c:set var="searchPageBackingBean"
value="#{pageFlowScope.employeeSearchPageBean}"
scope="page"/>
<jsp:include page="./SearchPageBody.jsff"/>
</jsp:root>
At this point, what I’m seeing is that the fragment page, SearchPageBody.jsff, has no visibility of the searchPageBackingBean variable, either referencing it as #{pageFlowScope.searchPageBackingBean} or just #{searchPageBackingBean}

The following will work, assuming you are needing to access a managed bean:
Put this in the parent page:
<c:set var="nameOfSearchPageBackingBean"
value="employeeSearchPageBean"
scope="request"/>
Put this in the child, SearchPageBody.jsff:
<c:set var="searchPageBean"
value="#{pageFlowScope[nameOfSearchPageBackingBean]}"
scope="page"/>

<rtexprvalue>true</rtexprvalue>

• How can i extract using while the time from the string ?

First time how can i extract the time as string ?
And second how can i extract the time as DateTime.Now ?
public static void ExtractDateTime()

f = client.DownloadString(htmltoextract);
client.Dispose();
int index = 0;
while (index != -1)
int t = f.IndexOf(firstTag);
int g = f.IndexOf(lastTag);
a = f.Substring(t + firstTag.Length, g - t - 8);
The string look like this: thisisateststring201309202145andthenextimeinthestringis201309202130andthelastofthisexampletimeinthisstringis201309202115
What i need to do is first time to extract the time as string to a List<string> like this:
index 0 201309202145
index 1 201309202130
index 2 201309202115
The second time to extract the times as this time format: YYYYMMDDhhmm and also to add the times to a List.
First time and second time i mean first example and second example. To use my code but first time to extract it as strings second example as the format of YYYYMMDDhhmm
And i need to use the while and indexof and substring in this cases.

Is the region always going to be "eu" or are you going to have more than one region. Since you are reading a string DateTime from different timezone than the computer you are reading the data you have to convert to a different timezone.
It looks like you have at least 'is' and 'eu' for regions. I don't know what offsets you need so try something like this.
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Linq;
using System.Text;
using System.Text.RegularExpressions;
using System.Globalization;
using System.IO;
namespace ConsoleApplication1
class Program
static void Main(string[] args)
string input = File.ReadAllText(@"c:\temp\test.txt");
string pattern1 = @"imageUrls = \[[^\]]*\]";
Regex ex1 = new Regex(pattern1, RegexOptions.Singleline);
string pattern2 = @"region=(?'region'[^&]*)&time=(?'time'\d{12})";
Match match1 = ex1.Match(input);
Regex ex2 = new Regex(pattern2, RegexOptions.Singleline);
MatchCollection matches2 = ex2.Matches(match1.Value);
IFormatProvider provider = CultureInfo.InvariantCulture;
List<DateTime> dateTime = new List<DateTime>();
foreach (Match match2 in matches2)
string region = match2.Groups["region"].Value;
DateTime dt = DateTime.ParseExact(match2.Groups["time"].Value, "yyyyMMddHHmm", provider);
switch (region)
case "eu" :
dt.AddHours(1);
break;
case "is":
dt.AddHours(-1);
break;
dateTime.Add(dt);

• How can I extract the native SQL generated by TopLink?

How can I extract the native SQL generated by TopLink?
This is useful for example to use pagination, or pass the SQL to a stored procedure that may do many things, like using a cursor, or apply security.
Pagination example where the SQL inside the inner parentheses are generated from Toplink, and the outer SQL is generic:
select *
from
(select xx.*, rownum as rn
from
(select o.order_id, r.name, ...
from placed_order o, restaurant r
where o.restaurant_id = r.restaurant_id
order by o.order_ext_id
) xx
where rownum < 21)
where rn > 10

Alternatively, you can open your sessions.xml in the Mapping Workbench and for a specific session, you can Click the Login Tab and then the Options tab. Then select "Native SQL" and it will be outputted to the console (assuming that is where you outputing it).
