How can I find a list of printers that will work with my iBook version=2.2?
I need to print out a book I wrote on my old iBook...got rid of my Epson Stylus 62 and can't find a list on the iBook that says what other printers it will take. I have access to an old Dell 922 and am wondering if that can be hooked up and used to get the book printed without having to go to get info recovered and pay a lot of money. Thanks for any help!

You should be able to connect the Dell 922 (c.2004) to your iBook Jaguar(c.2002) - you may see the problem... finding a driver for the Dell922 may be a BIG obstacle as Jaguar pre-dates the Dell922 - thus, no built-in driver in the OSX - it may be that some Dell driver will work but I would not bank on it.
Alternatives:
What is stopping you from connecting iBook to the Internet?
What Mac or PC do you have now? Connect via network cabling? > transfer file (what Application?) > print ?
put your file on a thumb drive and transfer it to another's computer - friend, FedExOffice Store, etc.

Hi Jen. My daughter just compleated her nursing program and is now working as a full time nurse. Focus and study hard and soon you will be there too. Now to the problem at hand. I have the same problem. I gave up on it and satisfied myself with my iPod without the upgrade. Reason being I've read so many posts of people having problems after the upgrade. But I'm sure other factors are involved. Nevertheless here is the fix most say works to solve the problem: What ever virus protection you have installed on your computer, disable it. Then try to install the update. After that enable the protection. I had Kaspersky, and it does it's job well. The thinking is, the virus protection is blocking the upgrade. Hope this works. Charlie

I doubt any manufacturer of either hardware or software would plow any money into supporting a Mac OS from last century. It just comes down to the size of the customer base which would be too small to justify that expenditure.
Best suggestion would be to look around for a second hand printer for that vintage. The advantage here would be if you found something it would be extremely cheap.

When I got my first Mac I created an Apple ID. I later created an email account with the name [email protected] I'd like to have an address that is [email protected] I'd prefer not to use an alias. Can I do this without losing all the information in my Apple ID such as itunes purchases, computer purchase history, etc? How do I find out if the new email address I'd like to use is available?

kayjhYou already have [email protected] If you want [email protected] you will have either to create an alias, or to create a new Apple ID (for which you will need a different non-Apple email address) and then create a new iCloud account. You can continue to be signed in in System Preferences>iCloud with your current ID, and the new one can be signed in in System Preferences>Mail, Contacts and Calendars where it will appear in Mail alongside the current one as a separate account. Or you can scrap the present ID and sign in with the new one in System Preferences>iCloud but continue to use the old one to sign in in iTunes - there is no confilct about doing that (though of course any data such as Calendars ancd Contacts you have in the present account will disappear if you sign out). I should choose the second option - the new account in Mail, Contacts and Calendars.

Can anyone recommend a wireless print server that will work with Macs and PCs ?
Wireless has a disadvantage for many Powerbooks. Unless yours supports 802.11g, it is not secure. So it must support Airport Extreme on the Powerbook to have a secure wireless network. Also many printers only support 802.11b, making matters worse, as that is not secure. See my FAQ* on printing:

Some printers have ethernet ports, which would allow you to use a Wireless ethernet bridge that is 802.11g. Similarly you could use one on the Mac, and then you'd have your wireless printing. Ask the printer manufacturer what might be possible. The last thing you want is an insecure network, especially if you are at most 4500 meters/1500 feet from someone who could pick it up and log into it that you don't want.
