How Can I Get OS Defined Systemvariables?

Hello to all,
I would like to get operation system defined systemvariables. I looked through the topics and found the hint of System.getProperties(...). But this does not work, I am getting null all the time. In the API-Doc is talked about -D but this means , as I understand it right, that you have to define a variable in the start-comand. Well, that is definitly not what I need, because that is not an OS defined System-variable but a start-command definded variable. The method System.getenv() is absolutely not supported anymore, so I am standing in the rain.
can anybody tell me how to get OS defined systemvariables or the answer that a program written in Java cannot get any variable from the OS at all?

You should give the user defined name in the ResultSet.getXXX method to retrieve the column value.
Example
SQL:
Select ename as employeename from emp;
You should say :
ResultSet.getString("employeename"); to get the value.
Alternatively you can retrieve it using column number:
ResultSet.getString(1);

To access pseudo columns you can specify an alias or use the index on the column (e.g. getInt(1)).

a mirror For example, I have a class Customer in my application, and I can get an ObjectReference through JDI during runtime. But how can I get the target VM's object which is a real instance of Customer, by which I can invoke methods defined in Customer?

Believe it or not, the same FM worked for me in a dynpro. I will try to explain here how it works in custom screen and then you can do your work for other screens or program types. I am not going to write my actual work but will explain in general.
I have 4 fields (FLD1, FLD2, FLD3, FLD4) and i made the search based on FLD2 and when user click on a line (could be any field), then this would bring the line on to the screens.
There are like 3 steps.
You have your value_tab for my fields FLD1, FLD2, FLD3 and FLD4. This is just the data that we pass into the FM. (data: IT_VALTAB type table of ZVAL_TABLE)
Next map the screen fields into an internal table (data: It_dynpfld type table of dselc ). I also have other internal tables defined (just to keep it straight, i will be putting here) data: It_return type standard table of ddshretval.
Next step is to call the function module. Make sure you have values in IT_VALTAB.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Use your backup copy to put everything back.

Hi, I have a master/detail form. When the status of the master record changes, I need to update a date in one of the detail records. If I use SQL to update the detail row in the database in the ON-CHANGE trigger of the master block, how can I get the detail block to requery to show the change? When I try doing a go_block from any of the ...UPDATE triggers, it says it is restricted.

Do you have a "Relationship" defined between your Master and Detail blocks? If so, you simply need to requery your master block and the detail block will automatically be requeried. If you can't use a relationship, then you can use can create a timer in the trigger that updates the database and then in the When-Timer-Expired (WTE) trigger you can go to the detail block and execute a query. For example:

In Oracle Applications, we are getting the following error while performing ROLLBACK to a Savepoint.
"Unexpected Error: ORA-01086: savepoint 'PTNR_BULK_CALC_TAX_PVT' never establishe d ORA-06510: PL/SQL: unhandled user-defined exception"
So how can I get a list of active savepoints for the current session?
Could you please also let me know if there is any better way to debug this issue.

There is no way to get a list of active savepoints. Is this your code or a "canned" procedure? If it is your code you can go through the code looking for answers, possibly tracing execution using DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE or writing messages to a log table. If its a "canned" procedure you may need to open an SR with Oracle

In an IVI driver, how can I get the list of attributes of an instrument? Is there a way to retrieve the long type representation of an attribute ID, based on the string name? Say, I put "IVIDMM_ATTR_FUNCTION", and I receive the long number (i.e. 1150010), so I can call the SetAttribute function?

Tokens like IVIDMM_ATTR_FUNCTION are actually macros that have been #define'd in a header file. Many of the headers are found in C:\VXIPNP\WIN95\include. For example, the macro for IVIDMM_ATTR_FUNCTION is found on line 111 of ividmm.h.

How can i get the pageFlowscope value below the region

I have included a region inside a fragment at starting position. While loading the fragment through task flow, region is excuting inside that region am setting the pageflowscope variable and am trying to get that in my main fragment(below the region tag). it is giving as null.

Each taskflow has its own PageFlowScope. The taskflow of the parent fragment and the region's taskflow are different. This is the reason you could not see in the parent fragment a value set in the PageFlowScope by the child region.
If you want to pass values from the child region's taskflow to the parent fragment, you can use contextual events. You can read about contextual events here:

If you want to pass values from the parent fragment to the child region's taskflow, then you can do it by contextual events or by defining and passing taskflow parameters to the "child" taskflow.

How can I get path from af: inputFile or a uploadedFile

Hi, there,
I am getting error messages while sending attachment.
I firstly tired getting the attachment from <af:inputFile> and attach it to the email. It failed. Then I put the file name directly into my code, still choose the same file from the <af:inputFile>, it failed again. However, from the code you can see, I can get system out println to print the file name, even the file content.
I realized that I might need the file path, but I don't konw how I do get the path, should I write code in the backing bean of uploadedFile or in the send() in the Application Module ? How can I get the path?

I wish you and others like you would say what you are trying to do, not how you are trying to do it. That would save those who would like to help the trouble of figuring it out. However, I'm going to make a guess at what you are doing. Tell me if I'm right.
You are writing a page that lets a user construct an e-mail message. I assume that the page has fields like: addressee, subject, and message. It also has a field, defined as an <af:inputFile> component for getting a file to be added as an attachment to the e-mail.
You will want to look at forum posts and tutorials about how to upload a file. You will see that the "value" attribute of an <af:inputFile> will normally contain EL referencing a property of a backing bean which has the UploadedFile class. This class has methods for getting the filename, MIME content type, and an InputStream containing the data in the uploaded file. These pieces of information are all you need to add an attachment to an e-mail. You don't need the file's path, which is a good thing, since that information is not available to you.
I've never used Javamail, so I can't tell you exactly how to use it, but I do understand the basics of sending e-mail. What you are going to do is create a multi-part message. The first part will be the message itself. Subsequent parts are the attachments. Each attachment can have it's filename and MIME content type set. Then you read the file through it's InputStream and write it to the message content. If the file contains binary data, you will need to pass it through a filter that will encode it to the Base64 format - which represents your data as 7 bit bytes.
You will NOT be using the database connection or anything from the data controls to send an e-mail, unless you also need to save a copy to the database. The connection that is needed for e-mail is a connection to an SMTP service. Ask your e-mail administrator for some help with this.
You MIGHT want to write most of this code in your Model project as a business component. Then your backing bean would probably just pass the fields as parameters.
