How can I reference the parent, without using _parent or _root?

Question

I cannot use the following in my ActionScript due to conflicts with the host application:
_level0
_root
_parent references
On a pop-up box I have a close button with an absolute reference:
closeBtn.onRelease = function  () {
unloadMovie("_level0.Page_1.holderBox");
Is there another way to make this work without using _level0 or _parent?
I've read that it is possible to use a global variable on the main timeline and ref that, but cannot get that to work.

You may need to try a few different approaches (that's what I would be doing), but you may be able to just target the holder directly using the global variable, and not have to include the Page_1 reference with it....
//frame 1:
_global.mcVar = null;
// later on...
_level0.Page_1.imgholder.image0_0.boxS.onRelease = function() {
createEmptyMovieClip("holderBox",getNextHighestDepth());
holderBox.attachMovie("boxSound", "boxSound_mc", 0);
_global.mcVar = holderBox;
If that doesn't work, try moving it to after wherever holderBox gets added into Page_1 and include Page_1 in the assignment like I showed earlier.
