How can I sync a (one) song from my computer to my iPad without syncing the entire library even though i have my iPad set to manually manage music?

Whenever I try to move just one song from my iTunes library to my iPad, it will start syncing like 300 other songs randomly so I cancel everything. I have my iPad set to manually manage music but it still does that. And what's worse, I never get that one song I chose in the first place. The same thing with photos. I'll sync a photo and it starts syncing music as well. But at least I get the photo just fine.

Easy solution when on itunes simply go to the music tab and press on music library then browse what file which contains the music you want to be added same with photos

Hi, first, you should prevent the iTunes library auto sync with iPhone: Launch iTunes > click Preferences... > click Devices. In the window, check the option 'Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically'. Next, connect your iPhone with your computer via the USB cable. Click the mini menu for iTunes on the very top left and click the option 'Show menu bar'. After then you can see iTunes File, Edit, View, Control, Store and Help menus on the ribbon. Click File > Devices > Transfer purchases from (your iPhone name). You can also access to the File menu by holding down Alt (Option on Mac), Shift and F keys. This is how to get your iPhone purcahsed song transferred to iTunes Library.

The first part of your answer worked great, thanks for that! However, since doing that, there are still songs on the iPad that I want to delete. I place my finger on the song, swipe to the left....and nothing. No red "delete" appears at the right. That used to work on my full size iPad, but not on this mini. I just purchased it last Friday...maybe it's defective?

Connect the phone to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (if the left-hand sidebar isn't showing then control-S should get it to show) and then use the Music tab on the right-hand side of the iTunes screen to select the music that you want in the phone's Music app and and sync/apply that selection.

My Ipod touch is set to manually manage music. I have put music from my computer and iTunes account onto it, and music from other people's computer and iTunes accounts on it. Unfortunately I dropped my iPod and the screen cracked. It still plays music and everything just fine, but it has problems with it's battery life so I'd like to just get a completely new iPod nano. I presume you deleted the original files as match would not have done so. Do you have a back up. If so, restore your music from that. If not, your will have lost all your music as this needed to be on your hard drive when you unsubscribed.
