How can i transfer the music on my ipod to my itunes folder?
Hi there, i've had my ipod for about a year now and am very happy with it, but there is a small problem. Due to a virus, i had to change my hardrive on my pc, meaning i lost all my itunes songs, except i remembered i still had my ipod with all the songs on it.
The only thing is, i havent been able to transfer the songs from my ipod to my itunes after i plugged my ipod in.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can get them back on again?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

iPod2PC Windows Only
iGadget Windows Only
iDump Windows Only
SharePod Windows Only
iRepo Mac and Windows
iPodRip Mac & Windows

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod -
My itunes library is empty on my new computer, but I have a full library on my ipod. How do I "reverse" sync? I don't see an option in itunes to put all the info from my ipod onto my computer. I see it the other way, which would then erase all the data on my ipod. Help!!
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer is designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

my hard drive with all my actual music files died. how can I transfer the music on my ipod classic to another drive?
If you purchased all of the songs through itunes store, please follow these steps:
1. Open up Itunes and Click on Itunes Store
2. Once you're in the Itunes Store look to right side of the screen and you should see the word "purchased". Click purchased and you'll be sent to a purchase screen.
3. Click on "All Songs" and then it will show all the songs you've downloaded. From there you just hit the button that looks like a cloud with an arrow on it, and it will download all the songs all over again.
If you didn't purchase them through Itunes, then you'll have to download software that will strip the songs from your iPod onto your computer. Here is a guide about how to copy iPod music. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help. -

Hello, how can I transfer the music from my Ipod to the Itunes on my desktop?
As known my system crashed recently, so I have had to install everything again also Itunes.
Earlier all my music CD's were installed in the Itunes library, of course I did loose everything exept my purchases from the Itune store.
luckely all de music was also set on my Ipod. How can I export the music library from Ipod to my imac without performing a syncronisation which would make me loose the music tunes from my Ipod Touch.
thank you for helping me outUnfortunately, iTunes doesn't give you the options to transfer non-purchased songs in the iTunes Store from an iPod to the iTunes library, so you have to use a third-party app.
One of the best apps you can use is Senuti, and it's the one I prefer > http://www.fadingred.com/senuti/ You can find more in Internet -
I got a new itunes account on my new computer. My ipod has all the music from my previous account. I would like to transfer the music from my ipod to my new account. Is this possible?

I have an older iPod Model MB029LL with years of music loaded into it. I do not want to loose the contents but wish to add to them. My old Mac died. I have a newly wiped Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard reinstalled (currently 10.6.3). iTunes is empty as expected. My iPod and its contents are displayed (I have set the updates to manual to avoid loosing the existing contents of my iPod). How can I get the contents of my iPod into this new iTunes? Thanks!
No, this will not merge libraries. You did not mention that there is already a library on your new mac.
In this case rename your old library before copying it to the new mac.
If you want to merge the two libraries you need a tool to do that - iPhoto has no built in command to do that. You could buy the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager
or export the photos from your new library and import them into the old one, after you transferred the library. -
How can I get my music from my iPod onto my iTunes library?
I google searched it and everyone said to go onto 'my computer' and select the device and then go to tools to view the music folder however I do not have an option of tools, is there any other way I can get my music from my iPod onto my iTunes library?
By following the instructions here. Note that you can't backup the iPod or sync apps.

A little while ago my old computer that had all my itunes information crashed and I had to get a new computer. I just downloaded itunes to my current computer and I can't figure out how to sync the music from my ipod to my library. When I click sync it only downloads the songs that I bought on itunes and not the ones that were originally from a CD. And when I click "sync music" it pops up a notification that music from my previous library will be removed and my ipod will be synced to my current library with half of my music missing just because I bought them from a CD. So my main question is, how do I get all the songs from my ipod to sync to my computer even though some of it wasn't purchased through itunes?
For music downloaded from iTunes you should be able to copy it over via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases
For music from CDs you will need a third-party program on your computer to copy them off - there are some listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy them back : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
You may also find this page for syncing to a new computer useful : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
