How can I unlock my daughters Screen lock

I gave my step-daughter my old iPod and her sisters keeps locking it. They can't remember what the passcode is so now I need to find a way to bypass and deactive the lock so that they can use it. Any help out there for this?

if it says disabled, than hold in poer button for 3 secs than power and hone buttons for 10 secs than home button for 15 secs than plug into itunes. it should say ipod is in recovery mode. than click reset

If a second-hand iOS device has been 'Activation locked' then only the previous owner can unlock it, either by providing you with the account ID and password, or by removing it from his list of devices (as he should have done before selling it) - please see http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4515
If you are unable to contact him to do this then I'm afraid you will not be able to use the device - there is no other way of unlocking it at all. Apple cannot unlock it for you.
You should if possible return it to wherever you bought it and ask for a refund as in this event the device is completely useless.

When you say it doesent recognize it do you mean it doesent apear what so ever in iTunes?, or do you get a recovery screen?
If it doesent apear what so ever try having the iPod plugged in and while it is still plugged in hold the power and home button at the same time for 10secounds and see if the device apears when it restarts.
If the device still doesent apear try another iPod connector.

After that click the restore button in iTunes and wait for the process to complete.
Once it has finished restore the iPod from a backup which can be found by right-clicking the iPod name in the left of the iTunes window.

Do you know there is the lock/unlock thing on the top or bottom right? If that doesn't work, hold down the middle circle and top portion of the circle button at the same time and hold until the screen goes black. Let go and soon an apple will appear. If you wait / press some buttons (i am not sure exactly how this part works) it will turn white and then the screen will appear again. You have all your music and everything still but the problem should be gone. This also works if your iPod ever freezes.

Is there a lock symbol at the top of the screen next to the battery indicator ? If there is, then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (rotation lock or mute notifications), then you can lock/unlock the rotation by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar.
