How change the wallpaper/background with a command line ?

Hi people,
did someone know how change the wallpaper with a command line ?
thx a lot

Hi,
I think this can be done with PowerShell. We could create a function to set wallpaper:
Function Set-WallPaper($Value)
 Set-ItemProperty -path 'HKCU:\Control Panel\Desktop\' -name wallpaper -value $value
 rundll32.exe user32.dll, UpdatePerUserSystemParameters
Open PowerShell; paste the function above in it to make this function work.
Now, if you want to change some wallpaper, you could type the following text:
Set-WallPaper -value "the path of you wallpaper"
If you are interested, I would like to share the following article with you for your reference:

My Desktop Wallpaper?
If you need some help on writing this script, you can also post your question to The Official Scripting Guys Forum:

Hope this helps. Thanks.

You can do this in FCP7. Drag with the speed tool.

  • Trying to figure out how to change the desktop background with powershell/batch.

The entire thing I'm doing is pretty pointless lol. But I wanted to prank my mother. This is my computer by the way nothing malicious. I just had an idea that the next time she goes to click and open opera I would have a batch files disguised as it instead
that would just say some things. Mimic deleting files. Kill exlporer.exe. Change the background to one I created saying something like GOT YA! with a troll face or something. And then either run explorer.exe again or shutdown my laptop. I don't really know
what I am doing lol. I have the batch file done but the changing of the desktop has me puzzled. I can have the batch file to replace the current bmp file with one I've made but it doesn't actually change the background. And JFY WPA files just happened to be
where I decided to sit the files for this prank at until I'm done with them.
I used this to copy it over.
    copy /y "C:\Users\user\Documents\WPA Files\Internet Explorer W
    allpaper.bmp" "C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Inter
    net Explorer Wallpaper.bmp"
I used this to try to get the wallpaper to refresh to show the new one before I found out this doesn't work with windows 8.1
    RUNDLL32.EXE user32.dll,UpdatePerUserSystemParameters
I found this but I am not entirely sure what to do with -name or -value or if I need to do anything to them or the others.. Doubt this would even refresh or what ever to make the new wallpaper actually show though.
    set-itemproperty -path "HKCU:Control Panel\Desktop" -name wallpaper -value $image
Also found this which I don't get at all..

Haha you're funny. I can't decide if you sincerely want me to learn or if you enjoy my struggle(I'm dumb) and think I'm up to no good. I do enjoy learning though :).
If I thought you were dumb I would have ignored you.  I just think it would be more fun for you to find the answers.  This is a technical forum and not a free answer forum.  It is for people who are learning or who have specific technical

  • How do i change the white background with the new ios7?

I just upgraded my iPad mini to iOS7 and now my videos are not titled, or the letters are white and are invisible against the new white background. How can I change this??

    It is rediculous,
up to IOS6 the iPhone was a perfect device for someone with low vision, well structured, good contrast and readable fonts.
But things got "improved". What a pitty that Apple has given away that benefit for a lightweight design which reduces ergonomics drastically. Now IOS is SW where design dominates usability.
Yes, you can use larger fonts, yes, you can use fat fonts but that does not change the keyboard layout.
It startet in IOS6 with the update of the keypad for the phone application (thin black keys on a flashing white background) and is continued with the vision unfriendly design from IOS7.
Please, have the flashing white background configurable so a structuring reappears or have the background configurable to white or black.

  • How change the File Open With list of apps?

In Bridge CS3, how does one edit the list of applications in the File > Open With menu (also available from the contextual menu for any image).
The list contains a number of applications that I would never use to open an image, and I would like to add to it, a new image editor (pixelmator) that does not appear in it. I have looked in the Bridge Help and the Preferences dialog and don't see any option to do this.

OK, I have now learned that Mac OS keeps the list of which apps to open what, in the "launch services database."
This database can be cleaned up and reset which somewhat simplifies the list that is displayed by the Finder OR by Bridge CS3.
Here is an article on how to reset the launchdb:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20031215144430486
Be sure to read all the way to the end as there are updated instructions down among the comments.
Here is a thread in the Apple Support forums discussing the same issue, and it includes links to some 3rd-party programs that can reset launch services without use of a lengthy Terminal command:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1289317
Even after rebuilding the launchdb, I find that a large number of apps are "registered" to open JPG files, including Camino, Opera, TextWrangler and others with only a tenuous connection to JPG. I don't understand why this is, and I would still like to find a way to limit the JPG Open-With list to a few graphics programs. But cleaning up the launchdb as described in the linked pages, did get rid of some programs and added some missing ones.
Hope this actually constructive info is useful to others.

  • How to use Xcode Tools with a Command Line Project

I'm using Xcode 3.2.6, C compiler.  I've had an application for years that is command-line on the terminal, compiling with a makefile.  Now I want to actually use the performance tools included with Xcode, such as threads, time profiler, etc.  How do I do this?
I created a project for it (never did that before), added source files, etc -- it seems to work.  It created the application, which will run via the terminal like always.  But whenver I try to use Run (inside Xcode), a window opens up saying "Stop Executable".  I have to click OK and that's the end of it.  Nothing has happened.
I found an old query on the web similar to this from 2008.  The suggestion was to open the console.  Still nothing.  "Sync with Debugger" does no good.  Please help!

That I understood.  I did try Run > Console.  Nothing intelligible happened.  Then I synced with the debugger.  he program is called fer64.  I get this:

Use the "file" or "exec-file" command.

  • Can't Change KDM wallpaper/background [Solved'ish]

    Hi, any suggestions welcome.
    I am using KDE4.3
I want to change the blue background with bubbles to just black, I have tried all settings in systemsettings both as root and as user with no change.
As a last resort I have even changed every blue bubble (oxygen air) image in /usr/* that I can find to black, only to find I still have blue bubbles on login/splash.
I have also tried both Ksplash and Kdm generators, but neither changes wallpaper.
    please help me
    Tim

    no change
btw, KDM is set to auto log me in, so i don't even see the login page, just a splash.
    EDIT
Have just tried ksplash-oxyarch from the AUR, works perfectly giving me a black splash background.
It needed kde-meta-kdebase that was not installed before, I have no idear if this was affecting my ability to change the background.
    Anyway...solved'ish

  • How do i change the wallpap

I have a zen v plus and I am new to the whole mp3 player thing. I have had it for about two or three months and I have not been able to change the wallpaper. I want to set it to a picture of my own or just something else ,other than the one it came with. Can someone tell me how to change the wallpaper on my zen v plus. Your help will be much appreciated. Merry Christmas! Shannon

Dear Shannon??To change the wallpaper, just?upload some pics to the player. Once they?re in their right directory, just browse (in the player) to them and when showing the one you want to set as the wallpaper, press and hold the RETURN/BACK button (the one under the PLAY/PAUSE) till a little menu shows up. On the menu screen, click "set as background" and voil?, you have your fav pics as the wallpaper. Hope I have helped you. Regards?Diego

  • How can I change the back background?

Look at my website: www.iphoneappguru.com . I need to change the green background on my page, how can i do that?
    Thanks!
        -RahulR

You won't really be able to because you have used the Fine Line theme in iWeb.  This is a fixed width template that uses images and the green image that you want to change is part of the footer.
What you can do is reduce the footer to 0 and the green disappears.
Your other option is to cover the footer area with a text box that is colour filled with the colour that you want.  So create your text box and fill it with whatever colour you want and to get it down to the footer section you need to drag and drop whilst holding down the command key so you can then drag it in to the footer section.  Ensure that the height and width are correct and you will then have covered the footer with a colour filled text box using the colour of your choice.
My other suggestion would be not to use this theme to start with.  It is not very good with the colours that you have going on your site and the blue, green and orange seem to clash rather than go together.
Why not consider changing your template to a blank white one?  If you do this you can alter the widths of your site and you can also use whatever colours that you want.  Just don't think that the Fine Line template is right for what you have created.

  • How to change the username associated with "Home"?

My wife got a new mac (from her job) and I've taken over her previous machine, a Macbook Pro (2008). I've upgraded the system several times already, and now using OS Lion. My problem is that I want — but haven't figured out how (or it it's possible) — to change the name of "Home"  — from (a form of) her name to something else. I'm the only user with administrative privileges, and I thought that would (somehow) change the name associated with "Home" — but no, it has not.
Is this something that can ( or must) be done via Terminal?

    dawglover wrote:

You can't, the original name is squirelled away all over the machine.
The only way to get it to be all yours, is to backup all data files off the machine, hold command option r down on a wired keyboard at boot time connected to a fast Internet connection and use Disk Utility to erase the ENTIRE drive, then reinstall OS X with your AppleID and password into the Macintosh HD partition.
When you reboot, you are greated to the intial install, where you can place your name all over the machine.
When you erase the drive this way all programs are gone, and only those associated with AppleID can be downloaded from AppStore as they are copy protected.

  • How do I change the tab background color in Firefox 4?

I just upgraded to Firefox 4. Tabs are now fine black font on dark grey background -- very hard to read. How do I change the tab background color?
I have searched and the closest I can come is some instructions for modifying .css files, and it is not clear that those instructions will impact the tab background color.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Similar question asked by TH received another response.
Here is the address of that question and answer:
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/804464?s=change+tab+color+firefox+4&as=s
I like the solution recommended there.
Added information - after several days experience, I notice that some tabs occasionally revert to the original dark grey. So I am still looking for a better solution, ideally within Firefox rather than via add on. This seems like a basic setting for the browser that should be easy to change, rather than something so complex that I need an add on to change it. Or just build it without such a dark grey background to begin with and I would not need to change it.

Or, if you don't like fiddling with Xdefaults file, you can simply make urxvt transparent by executing it like "urxvt -tr -sh 20", where the number represents the transparency level. However, this is only pseudo transparency, but I like it better than resource-consuming compositing.
Will give it a try. I'm not against .Xdefaults - just haven't used it that much and know only the basics ( color schemes )

  • ITunes 11 how can the window background colour be changed from white to black in Grid View?

How do I change the window background colour ,in Grid View, from the new, default, white back to the good old, more easy on the eye, black?
Apple did this to us in iPhoto some time ago and had to add a preference for shades of grey other than white. Why didn't Apple learn from this mistake?

It is good to know I am not alone. The first thing I did after downloading iTunes 11 was go into preferences to change the background color. But alas, the option for a dark background is gone. I also was kind of disappointed in the lack of ability to resize the artwork, but not to the extent of some other commenters here.
I will say this though. I love the way the albums expand with custom colored backgrounds based on each album's artwork colors. This looks fantastic. Still it would be nice to accomodate those who prefer to use a dark background for the overall application's theme.
So, Apple, I join with my fellow users in requesting the return of resizable artwork, and the option for at least a dark (or an even further customizable) background color for the overall theme of the application. Thanks!
