How do I add "category" information to my id3 tags

There is a column available for viewing in iTunes called "Category", and I would like to populate it, but it isn't one of the options on the "Get Info" window.
How can I populate this field?

I don't see a way of doing it. A quick Google suggests it might have something to do with Podcasts, but I don't have any of those in my library now to test it.

The 'Category' column is populated by the category of subscribed podcasts, which is set in the feed and is not editable by you. In the 'Music' listing this column will be empty and is not editable. You can remove it by choosing "View Options' from the 'View' menu.

It's not directly editable in iTunes however it can be edited by means of a script such as the one I have written here:

Photos does not support to add location information yet.
Add the GPS before you import the photos to Photos. I hope this will change with the next release.
You could ,for example, first import to iPhoto, add the locations, batch change the titles and captions, do all the things that are not yet supported in the new Photos, then export the photos from iPhoto and import them to Photos.
Or use the free exiftool, if you like the Terminal.

Im looking for a way to add more information to the song tags.

Im not sure where to add the information im looking for. As an example i recently got the new smashing pumpkins 5 disc set. When ripped if shows which songs are from discs 1-5 and seperates them. Whats missing is the information corresponding to the fact that each of the 5 discs actually has its own disc name and not just disc number. is there a way to include this so it shows songs listed as Artist/album/album name/track name? For example, Smashing Pumpkins / Mellon Collie Deluxe Editon / Dawn to Dusk / Track name? I would just hate to lose this information to time in my library, and when a friend asks what disc its on i can just say its disc name. Thank you.

ITunes sporadically adds/removes odd info into ID3 tags ....

Every now and then I notice iTunes adds "Album Artist" & "Track Number" information. I've also noticed that it sometimes adds a string of odd numbers in the comments section.
How can I stop this? I do not want iTunes managing my music library at all. I don't want it even touching it. I'd rather do it myself.
Sometimes I've also found myself adding album artwork that I've added before. Can I stop this from happening? If not, is there a way to backup all my music with it's info intact? So if and when iTunes decides to mess with my library I can just restore it from the backup.
I'm a perfectionist and all my music has to have the ID3 tags filled out a certain way. iTunes has created countless hours of unneeded work for me.

Windows Media Player is the thing getting Album Artist and Composer info.
WMP defaults are set to retrieve info from the internet. iTunes does NOT have this capability - all itunes can do is get info from CDDB/Gracenotes just before importing a CD.
You need to turn the internet stuff off in WMP - depending on your version, it's on the privacy tab and also the library tab.

Missing songs / won't add or import files / corrupt id3 tags?

Hey Folks,
I can't seem to get some songs/files to add or import to itunes...
My computer crashed while itunes was open. When I rebooted the itunes library was corrupted and all playlists and songs were missing.
... no problem...
I'll just add the itunes folder right... Which is what I did.
Problem is now a good 20% of the songs are missing. They are on the harddrive in the itunes music folder, but won't import or add to itunes.
I suspect maybe it has something to do with corrupt ID3 tags?
Anyone know the answer to this mystery?

How do I add multiple information under an user account?

David, Thanks for all your help and I'm almost finished. Hopefully this will be the last item. I have users that register and then go to a profile page. I need them to be able to recieve multiple messages and also input multiple scores. I figured out how to do this but with only them being able to add one of each (its stored in the database table). How can store multiple items for each user (with users continuing to increase)? It's almost like I need a table for each individual user...

Thanks, but I will proceed. So getting back to my question...I figured that I needed a new table which I have. I also set up a user page based on the session MM_Username and that is working fine. I have 8 users in and everything is working fine on that end...that isn't the problem. I used the insert command to insert all data/foreign key into table2 that I needed. I need to be able to display a set of records from (table2) and when I try to use the MM_Username to filter that table, it doesn't work. My understanding was that when a user is logged in, the session for each page is MM_Username so if the tables are set up with the same information, why doesn't it work? I also inserted the table in the main loggin page and it actually does pull up the information, but even though I have the "repeat region command" it only shows the first record...it does however pull the first record for the logged in user. But doesn't work at all on another page. Please help.

I have a C# desktop application which will keep track of my installed software(in my PC). I want to make this application more smart, like when the update version of the installed software will come in internet site, the application will notify me and I can update from my C# application, without login or open website.
For example, I have installed MS Office 2013, Adobe Reader 1.1. So when Adobe Reader 1.2 comes in internet, my application will notify me and I can update that from that application.

Well, each app will be different. You will need detailed research. In some cases the process will be opaque or undiscoverable. For Adobe Reader you might find the Enterprise Deployment documentation relevant.

How do I add category to contacts in icloud?

Having a few issues syncing my iPhone/iCloud with my Outlook. When I turned on iCloud all my contacts were moved from my Outlook Contact list to iCloud. Problem I'm having is that the cloud will not recognize the category - is there something I need to do to fix this?

Have you already tried to delete the contacts with the following steps:
1. sign in at www.cloud.com
2. open "Contacts"
3. click on the little "Settings" cog wheel icon in the lower left hand corner
4. choose "select all"
5. and then choose "delete"

The first one is not for me because the "rendered" attribute is set on the server-side: the current "invisibl"e section would not be included in the renderer page (what I want is render the page displaying the current visible section and to switch to another section at client-side)

Are you displaying the document in Acrobat, a browser, or some form of assistive technology? Alt text is used by assistive technology. For example a screen reader will speak the alt text instead of whatever it is set as an alternative to. It isn't mouseover text. To the best of my knowledge Acrobat provides no easy way of setting mouseover text when the document is viewed in Acrobat or a web browser - someone please correct me if there is a way to do this.

In my application I've 2 different levels of Roles 1.Viewer, 2. Participant. A viewer can only have a access to Topic and he can reply back to that. He can't add Category -- > Forum etc. Where as Participant can Create all.
How to disable Add Category, Add Forum, Add Topic tabs to Viewer.

To try to provide some answers to your questions:
1. A regular role determines what a user can do in Studio as a whole. An application role determines what a user can do within the context of a specific application.
For example, a user with the Power User role for Studio can create applications, and automatically has an Application Administrator role for the applications they create. They can also grant Application Member or Application Administrator roles for those applications to other users. They cannot automatically view or edit applications created by other users, unless granted an application role by an Application Administrator for those applications.
Users with only the User role for Studio cannot create applications (as of 3.1), but may be granted an Application Member or Administrator role for specific applications.
Neither a Power User nor a User has access to the Control Panel.
Users with the Administrator role for Studio have access to the Control Panel, and unrestricted access to applications.
For information on user roles in Studio, see About user roles.
For information on assigning application roles, see Managing memebership in an application.
2. We don't really support component-specific permissions - the options are deprecated and shouldn't be used, which is why they are not documented. The Configuration option is the only option available for a component.
3. Add Discussion is also a deprecated function that is not supported.
