How do I change the margins in Word output?

I'm using RoboHelp 9 as an intermediate format to convert FrameMaker 10 source to old-school 7-bit ASCII text with layout. The whole path is FrameMaker > RoboHelp > Word 2010 > Save as MS-DOS Text with Layout. I have this working with MIF2Go but want to switch it to RoboHelp since that's what the company owns.
The FrameMaker doc's page layout is 8.5" x 11" with .25" margins (8" text column). The text is Courier New 12.
The Word document generated by RoboHelp has 1" margins. Where can I change that?

Have you tried creating your own Word template with the required margins and using this when you generate your Word file from RH? See Peter Grainge's site - http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/printing/rh9_printing.htm for details

    I doubt you need hundreths as you would not even be able to measure that and the printer doesn't hold the paper to those tolerances.
    fruhulda is right. Pages accepts higher measure but rounds it in the measure field.
    If you want absolute accuarcy you need to set your measures to points. Everything else is being recalculated.

  • How can I change the margins on a fillable PDF

    I am looking to change the margins on a fillable PDF that is required by the CRA because page 2 of 10 is blank. If I were to print it and send it off with the blank page it will get sent back as 'not completed properly'
    Any ideas on how to get rid of the blank page???

    Oh I understand that it is free. I just don't understand why a fillable document that is required by a government agency such as the CRA has a blank page in it and the program they insist you use to fill out the form cannot remove that blank page. That's where my annoyance lies.

  • How can I change the margin for the header/footer?

    The header/footer are about .5 from the top/bottom but I want them at about .3/.4. How can I change this?

    Would be useful to enter the Help menu and trigger the menu item Pages User Guide.

  • When I opt to "download this as a file" from my email account, Firefox defaults to notepad to open the file. How can I change the default to MS Word?

    Question
    When I opt to "download this as a file" from my email account, Firefox defaults to notepad to open the file. How can I change the default to MS Word?

    Is FF downloading the file as a .txt file? If so, go to "Folder Options" in the windows control panel. Click on the "File Types" tab. Scroll down until you reach the TXT file extension. Look to see what that extension opens with (lower part of panel). It probably shows notepad. Click on the <Change> button. Scroll down until you find "Microsoft Word." Select it and click the <OK> button. That should show the TXT extension is now associated with Microsoft Word. Click the <Close> button at the bottom of the panel.
    If FF is downloading the file as any other type, use the same process as above except look for the corresponding extension instead. If the extension is not listed click on the <New> button and create an association using the extension in the file name and then associate it with MS Word.

  • In Pages when I go to FIND how can I change the highlight colour of the found word?  At the moment it is a very pale grey and not easily seen.

    In Pages when I go to FIND how can I change the highlight colour of the found word?  At the moment it is a very pale grey and not easily seen.

    Well, it might depend on the nationality of your keyboard, but on my US keyboard, the tilde ("squiggle") is above the TAB key; on a Mac, ⌘-TAB cycles through the active applications and ⌘-tilde cycles through the windows in the front application.
    When you do a Find, Pages selects an instance of your search text (the next one after the current selection, I think, but I didn't check that). It doesn't make the document window the front window, though. If you click in the window to bring it to the front, it moves the selection (or insertion point) to wherever you click unless you click on or above the ruler. Try clicking at the top of the document window after you do a find; say somewhere near the document name. Now you should see the highlighted selection (your search text). If you click back on the Find window, the selection will go grey again, unless you hold ⌘ down while clicking.

  • How do I change the number formatting within a Cell Table in Microsoft Word?

    Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me out on an issue I've been having... I work for an accounting firm and we do a lot of financial statements.
    I was wondering if we would be able to treat a cell table in Microsoft Word 2007 like I would a cell table in Microsoft Excel. Meaning, I would like to change the formatting of the numbers in the table to the "Accounting" (number) format so it
    aligns by the decimal point and use the $ signs and () for negative numbers.  We do use the link tables feature, however, most of our balancing pages just can't be done in Excel because of the way the text is written. It would be much harder to format
    the text if it were to be typed in Excel. We have also tried  creating an Excel sheet within Microsoft Word but it is the same as linking the tables... Again, a text formatting issue.  The only option is to use tables within Word but how do we change
    the number formatting to a "accounting" (number) format where the numbers would align with the decimal point and use () for the negative numbers. Is there ANY option for us to do this other than manually entering this information in using tabs?
    If there are no options other than entering it in manually, please consider this as an option for your next software update. I believe that a LOT of people out there will be interested in this feature... My manager and I just attended a webinar on Microsoft
    Advanced Word Tips Tricks and Techniques and 75% of the attending people had this question but no answer.
    Thank you very much for your help!!!!!

    Word does not really have number formatting for table cells. You can align cell contents on the decimal point, though, by setting a so-called decimal tab stop.
    Option 1:
    - Select the cells for which you want to do this.
    - Display the ruler.
    - Click the Tab box on the left hand side of the ruler until the box contains an inverted T with a dot.
    - Click in the ruler where you want the decimal tab.
    Option 2:
    - Select the cells for which you want to do this.
    - Click the arrow in the lower right corner of the Paragraph group on the Home tab of the ribbon.
    - Click the Tabs... button in the lower left corner of the dialog.
    - Specify a tab position in the box, e.g. 1.5".
    - Select the 'Decimal' radio button under 'Alignment'.
    - Click Set.
    - Click OK.
    You will have to type the numbers as they should appear, including the $ for currency and the ( ) for negative numbers.

  • How do you change the default setting for RTF documents from TextEdit to MS Word

    How do you change the default setting for RTF documents from TextEdit to MS Word, I download forms from the Canadian government and they use RTF as a standard, they are supposed to open as MS Word documents (Yes I have Office for MAC 2011) but when download the document it goes to TextEdit which messes up the form format. I can down load it right click and go "open with" MS Word but how can I get the default chnaged to save this step.

    Thanks I knew this, I like Safari as I want to keep everything MAC, but if I use Firefox the documents open in MS Word straight away, I was just curious if there was some setting I could change?
    In Firefox > Preferences, click the Applications tab. If RTF is there, use the pulldown menu in the Action column to pick MS Word. If RTF is not there, there are instructions here for how to add file types.

  • How do I change the font of individual words in a JTextArea?

    Hey everybody! I just have a quick question about JTextArea. I have a JTextArea and I am trying to find out how I can go about changing the style of individual words. For example, the first 3 words could be bold, and the next 3 words could be blue. How would I go about doing this? I know it is possible to change the entire font style of the whole JTextArea, but I am looking to change only individual segments at a time.
    JTextArea area = new JTextArea();
    area.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(320,380));
    area.setLineWrap(true);
    area.setWrapStyleWord(true);
    //code to change the first 3 words bold
    //and the next 3 words blue (as an example)
    //would go hereThanks so much!

    Try using HTML:
    Set the text to:
    area.setText("<html>My <b>Text</b> Here</html>");
    and see if the word Text is in bold. If so, then you can go as far as you want using HTML tags to set bold, color, etc.

  • How can I change the size of a pdf source file, or, convert it to Word?

    How can I change the size of a pdf source file, or, convert it to Word?

    A lot depends on the form of the PDF. Is it graphics, a scan of a text file, pure text, or other? What version of Acrobat are you working with.
    You can do a save as to get a WORD file, but do not expect great results. The ability to get a decent WORD file depends on what the form of PDF you are working from. If it was created from WORD with tags and all, you might get good results. If not, you might get a lot of messed up results.
    Explain what you are starting with and your ultimate goal. Also check the audit of the file (should be under PDF Optimize) to see where the file information is concentrated (text, fonts, graphics, other).

  • How can I change the location of my Backups? (e.g. Word files)

    I am wondering how I can change the location of my word doc. back ups. Everytime I make a new word document my computer makes a duplicate titled: " Backup [then the title I gave the word document]." I was wondering if I could make a single file to store all of the back ups. Currently they are in every file that the original is in. Thanks!

    It depends on which version of Windows you are using but it will intitally be downloaded to the C: drive.  The data is initially stored in the following locations:
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\com.adobe.downloadassistant.AdobeDownloadAssistant\Local Store
    Windows 7 and Vista:  C:\Users\[login]\AppData\Roaming\com.adobe.downloadassistant.AdobeDownloadAssistant\Local Store
    You will need to get enough free space on the C: drive to allow the download.
