By choosing an online download store that provides MP3 format, such as Amazon MP3 or Google Play Music.

When you click on your device you are presented with the pages
    Summary
    Info
    Apps
    Tones
    Music
    Movies
    TV shows
    Books
    Photos
To remove Audiobooks depending on the type of Audiobook ie a series of mp3 files you will find under music and probably have to deselect the album name to remove it. I don't have any of these as I download from Audible or I use Audiobook Builder to stictch together mp3 files into m4b files. To find these Click on Books you will immediately see a section for books (in reality ebooks). Scroll down past that and you will see Audiobooks where you can select and deselect. Deselect the required Audiobooks and Click Sync

This is not particularly helpful. I've looked on 3 websites and none of them match my configuration of iTunes. I've gotten as far as creating an AAC file and that is it. Can't find the .m4s designation to change it.

Might that new playlist be a smart playlist named something like "Recently Added"?
Yes, iTunes does create such a smart playlist and uses it to house recently downloaded songs.
If you want the songs to go to an existing playlist as well, set up the smart playlist to include rule(s) to include the latest additions.

  • HT1688 how do I make a downloaded song as my ringtone

I just downloaded a song and want to use it as my ring tone. How do I do that. Thanks

Here are the steps to creating a ringtone from a song using iTunes 11
Step 1: Trim the Song to a short ringtone
    1) Connect Your iPhone to your computer and Open iTunes
    2) Select the music folder and Drag the music file into iTunes
    3) Determine which part of the song you want to use as the ringtone
    4) Right click the music file in iTunes, select "Get Info", then Options
    5) Input the start time and end time of section of the song
Step 2: Create Ringtone from the Song
    1) Click on the menu icon on the top left corner of iTunes
    2) Go to Preferences, Import Settings, Make sure AAC encoder is selected, and click okay.  Then make sure "Tones" is checked, click okay.
    3) Right click the music file again and select "Create AAC version"
    4) Drag newly created file on to your desktop
Step 3: Rename Extension from .m4a to .m4r
    1) If you are using Windows PC, you need to first unhide File Extension before you can rename it. Go to the start menu, search and select "folder options"
    2) Click View and uncheck the checkbox beside "Hide Extensions for Known File Types", click apply and then okay
    3) Right click the file.  If you are using Windows, select "Rename". If on MAC, select "Get Info"
    4) Rename the extension from .m4a to .m4r
Step 4: Sync Ringtone into iPhone
    1) Select tones from the drop down menu, and then drag and drop the ringtone into iTunes
    2) Go to your iPhone library and select the tones tab
    3) Check the sync tones checkbox and click sync
    Hope this helps =)

Really? The new iPod Video? What was changed out of curiosity?
Oh, get ready for my bitter rant:
The old iPod had a little port/dock/whatever next to the headphone jack. This allowed a wired remote, other controls (like the cool wireless remote, or the casette player adapter that allowed you to use your car's casette controls to control the iPod), and other cool add-ons while SIMULTANEOUSLY charging the iPod through the bottom dock.
They got rid of that top port/dock/whatever, "achieving" three things:
) most current accessories on the market are defunct
    2) a corded remote appears impossible
    3) companies making replacement accessories at a fast enough clip to be on the market already are often neglecting to make a pass-thru for the charger, so you have to choose: "dri've safely, or charge my iPod?"
Availability of accessories was a big thing chaining me to Apple, and the fact that they're so willing to mess with their customers' ability to use accessories really disgusted me.
Now, with the Zen, though I lose the multitude of accessories available, I get to experiment with subscription services. But, I'm missing some of iPod's communication with iTunes (ratings, last played info, and the ability to sync *advanced* playlists), so I don't know how long I'll be able to stay away from Apple. (Boy, I sound like an abused wife trying to divorce an inconsiderate jerk.)

  • The ipod touch says it is full and cannot accept any more downloads but it is not full how do I condintue to download songs?

My daughter's ipod touch says it has no available space and can not download anything. It has a capacity of 6.5 GB. She only hads 236 songs, 3 video's,  63 pictures, and 17 apps. There is no way she has used up all the space with what she has on it but it lists her available capacity as 0 bytes. Any ideas?

Connect the iPod to the computer and click on the iPod under Devices in iTunes.  Near the botttom of the screen will be a colored bargraph showing the storage usage aon the iPOd.  If the "other" categot is large, like above 1 GB you need to restore the iPod to get the "other" to its normal of about 0.25 to 0.75 GB. Sometimes a restore to factory defaults/new iPod is required.
If the other is normal. what does the bargraph say for the different categories?

  • How can I use Napster downloaded songs?

I am getting an error from iTunes that the files are not supported. Does this mean it won't take Napster songs? I have purchased the, and want them on my iPod.

"I am getting an error from iTunes that the files are not supported. Does this mean it won't take Napster songs?"
Yes, absolutely. These songs are in WMA format which neither the iPod not iTunes will play. What's more, the songs are protected, so iTunes will not be able to convert them to a format compatible with the iPod.
You will have to burn these songs to an audio cd, and then import them into iTunes as you would any other cd.
That's always assuming that Napster allows the burning of these songs to a cd.

  • Downloaded songs from MP3 Rocket

I just subscribed to MP3 Rocket and downloaded about 15 songs. My iPOD Nano, 2nd generation, works fine with all the music I've copied from CDs to my computer. However, I can't transfer the songs from my iTunes account (they show up as "Shared") to my iPod. I tried manually moving them to the iTunes folder, but that didn't work. Any tips? Help, please!

Same thing here, songs appear to be on the ipad but they don't play. I can't download the, from iTunes because iTunes sees that they are on my ipad mini too. What's that about? Did you find a solution Kgrohe?
