just got a new imac, am a pc user. i have lost my menu bar. how do it get it back?

If you are in full screen mode, move your cursor into the upper right hand corner of the display.
If not, try a restart... if that doesn't work let us know.

Check that you still have the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar
* Make sure that you have the "Bookmarks Toolbar" visible: "View > Toolbars"
* Check in "View > Toolbars > Customize" that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
* If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the Customize window onto the Bookmarks Toolbar
* If you see other missing items in the Customize window then drag them back from the Customize window onto one of the toolbars.
* If, in "View > Toolbars > Customize", you do not see that item then click the "Restore Default Set" button

How do I get my menu bar at the top of the page with no gaps? Whenever I move it there is a huge gap at the top of the page which I cant seem to get rid of, i posted about this before but none of the suggestions seemed to work for me. i'm not very good with css so im not really sure where to find the problem. There are generally gaps everywhere which looks at absolute mess, no clue how they got there and why, there is a huge gap underneath my menu bar too which wasnt there before. how do i get rid of this too? its probably some padding a or margin but no clue where.

In Safari go to View > Show Toolbar.
Go to View > Customize Toolbar and drag whatever elements you want (like the default set at the bottom) to your tool bar.

Sounds like you are in Full screen mode. Run your cursor to the top of the page and click on the blue arrows on the right hand side.

I just installed the new firefox and when I click on a link and the linked site appears, I lose my navigation bar and get a bar with non functional icons instead. Are you referring to the bar at the bottom of the display? If so, just move the cursor to the bottom of the display and it will appear. If you don't want it to be hidden, open System Preferences > Dock, and untick the option to hide this bar automatically.
If you are in a full-screen app, you should know that the bar is hidden automatically, so just move the cursor to the bottom of the display
