How do i get rid of crawler and replace it with google as my firefox start page

somehow (probably my error, in haste) a thing called crawler has grabbed control and i cannot go back to using google as my startup page in firefox.

I don't have the foggiest notion of what the Hell is a location bar and what the next step means: "in the filter at the top......". I recently downloaded firefox 4, and everytime I open it up there is a big black bar on the top of the page (which i think is the tabs bar) but its not showing up. how can i get my tabs to show up?

I upgraded from Vista RTM to SP2 and now the black bar is gone.

Go under settings, mail, contacts and calendars and then choose only to sync back 50 or 100 or 1000 mails. Chances are you don't really need the old ones on your device and it'll save room (I have mine set to 50)

If you do not want to see snippets on the about:home page or if there are problems with a snippet then you can set the browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl pref to an empty string on the about:config page.
Delete the storage\persistent\moz-safe-about+home folder in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed ("3-bar" Firefox menu button > Exit/Quit) to remove snippets stored in IndexedDB and make Firefox use a default snippet set.
You can reset the browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl pref via the right-click context menu to the default value to re-enable the snippets and make Firefox recreate the moz-safe-about+home folder.
Close and restart Firefox after changing the value of the browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl pref.
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
