How do I get rid of pop up ads at bottom of page while doing surveys that block my continuing doing the survey?

I have been doing surveys for a long time online. I just got Windows 8 a couple of weeks ago. This week while on Pinecone Research and Valued Opinions I had pop ups that appeared at the bottom of the page and covered up the next button so you could not continue the survey. I had to go back to the email and and click it to restart the survey and then go question by question to get where I was at. I cannot click these pop up off the screen, there is no x anywhere. They come on with each question I do of the survey. It is taking forever to finish a survey having to start over with each question. It is a real pain. How do I stop these pop ups from coming on while doing surveys? this is a new computer and I have never had a problem like this before. Is this something to do with Windows 8?

Hey Sweeneyword, there is an addon available for firefox called adblock plus:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/
This should block the ads that are keeping you from continuing. You should also clear your history, cookies, etc and make sure you have malware protection installed.

If you are seeing ads that are not normal for the sites you are visiting, you probably either have adware installed or you are on a compromised network. See my Adware Removal Guide for help identifying and fixing the problem.

I don't know if I can help you with what's been recorded but may be able to assist in getting rid of the problem.
    1. Don't know if the MOTU has a reset procedure on the rack unit, if so, do that first.
    2. Turn off/disable wireless if you're using it.
    3. In Logic raise the I/O buffers to 128
    4. If you have a different slot, move the 424 card. One slot was noisy on many Macs.
    (5) As mentioned, Make sure the audio interface is using Internal clock.

I keep getting pop ups which just started recently, I may have downloaded some sort of media player which obviously was not. How can I get rid of these same pop ups?

Click here and follow the instructions, or if there’s a type of adware not covered by them on the computer, these ones. If you're willing to use a tool to remove it(you don't need to, but may find it easier), you can instead run Adware Medic; this link is a direct download.

  • How do I get rid of pop up boxes.

I'm setting up a new MacBookPro. I installed Lion and updated Flashplayer. When I'm playing games online, white boxes with links to the system preferences for Flashplayer keep popping up. How do I get rid of the boxes? They're extrememly annoying. I'm running Firefox 5.0.1. The yellow tool tips boxes kept popping up. I got rid of those, but I can't seem to find where to disable the Flashplayer boxes. Is it something simple that I'm missing?
    Thanks so much.

    Boxes like this one?
If so, those are called tooltips. There is no readily-accessible prefs setting to turn them off.
Googling how to get rid of them in Safari yielded this webpage -

  • How do I get rid of pop up Java Runtime Environment?

I keep getting a pop up on  my new Yosemite 10.10 Mac that says I have to install Java Runtime Environment to see web content.  I get it when I'm not even on the web.  How do I get rid of it?   Is it something that I should be installing?  Are there any downsides to it?  Thank you for any help you can give me.

Most likely, you have a web plugin that depends on the Java runtime distributed by Apple, such as the Facebook video calling plugin or the "NexDef" plugin for watching baseball streams. If you no longer need the plugin, remove it. Otherwise, install Java.

  • How do I get rid of "Startnow," which opens as my home page instead of google.

I got this virus when I tried to install VSL digital code to access a Netflix disc. Now, whenever I open my home page, Startnow comes up rather than google. How can I get rid of this malicious program and return to my original google homepage?????

    Please do the following.<br><br>
#In the location bar where you normally type in a web address, type '''about:config''' and hit Enter.<br><br>
#In the filter at the top, type: '''keyword.URL'''<br><br>
#Double click it and remove whatever's in there and replace it with http://www.google.com/search?q= and then click OK.<br><br>
    #Close the tab
The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "Copy Link Location" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.
'''To reset your home page, do the following'''.<br><br>
    * Go to the site you want to set as your homepage.<br><br>
    * Click the Firefox button, go to '''Options '''| '''Options '''| '''General'''.<br><br>
    * Make sure it says "''Show My Homepage''" in the first dropdown menu.<br><br>
    * Click the button called "'''Use Current Pages'''" to set the homepage to the one you have on the screen.<br>

  • How do I get rid of Pop-Up that appeared on my opening screen?

There is a box on my opening screen which reads: Opening <filename>.exe. You have chosen to open <filename>.exe whic is a binary file http://aihdownload.adobe.com. Would you like to save this file? Within the Pop-up box there is 2 boxes -- save -- cancel. I cannot save nor cancel. I have contacted Adobe and they said it is because I am using Firefox. Can you please get rid of this Pop-Up?

The problem that I described above is on my desk-top screen, not on my Firefox opening screen. I will repeat problem again. Title of box: Opening <filename>.exe.
You have chosen to open <filename>,exe which is a binary file from http://aihdownload.adobe.com. Would you like to save this file? Save File -- Cancel File. I can do neither. Is there a way I can fix this?
I did not try to open this file. It just popped up on Desk-top Screen.

  • How to I get rid of pop up user account control "do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your computer" I have windows 7 professional.

I keep getting an annoying pop up the says "User Account Control" "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your computer"
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== Two days after I downloaded Firefox and set as my default browser.

Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
In the Compatibility tab, make sure that Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" is not selected.
You also need to check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program directory.
If you can't make the changes then you need to start Windows Explorer as Administrator.

  • Please help me, how do I get rid of pop up windows

Hi, I've had my Mac for around 3 years without any problems. I think my daughter has downloaded something that has opened up a virus ? Example: I click on an icon whilst doing my online shopping and this opens up a separate webpage and also a box at the bottom of the screen with a long pop up box, which moves along the screen. Example, I wanted to search 'nuts' (as in almonds) in the shopping page, and a box showing mechanical nuts and bolts filled the page. If I click on the x it opens up a separate web page, I close the page, go back to my shopping and it does it all over again. i'm worried to use my Mac for any sort of banking until this is fixed.
Does anyone know how I can fix this?  I do have Mac Apple cover, but they are shut today!
    thanks in advance.

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • How do I get rid of pop-up adds on my mac?

Am getting this anoying pop-up when I open Safari.  "Repair Windows Errors" There is nothing on it to shut it down.  Have clicked in preferences to limit pop-ups.  What else can I do?  Thanks!

Quit Safari, then open it again while holding the Shift key.
Consider Safari extensions like Adblock or an ad-blocking proxy like http://glimmerblocker.org/ .
