How do I get the OS to alert me to something I need to do?

This seems like it should be easy, but I just can't figure it out, despite the plethora of promising looking tools in Yosemite OS, like Notifications and Calendar, and the fact that my iPhone is pretty good at this sort of thing already.
I would like to set reminders for specific days to do certain tasks (like open a certain webpage and do a thing, like ordering presale concert tickets for example).
So ideally, I would get a popup notification reminding me.
Any one have an idea how to do this? Preferably without using scripts or command line instructions? I'm not a programmer.

Reminders is an Application. Applications are in the Applications folder. If it is not in your sidebar, type cmd-shift-A in Finder. That will open the Applications folder. Or, you can select it from the Go menu in Finder.
Or, you can open Macintosh HD and then open the Applications folder.
Or, you can search for Reminders in Spotlight.

How can I get the panelTabbed to have a scroll bar when needed?

I have a panelTabbed with4 tabs and I want a scrollbar to appear when I shrink the size of the page down. I discovered that the tabs dissappear and there is not way to access them during some accessibility testing.

Also, the outer page, which uses fnd:applicationsPanel with scroll="true", that the above is embedded in does get a scroll bar when needed by other af:panelHeader sections of the page.

Looks like the problem only occurs in screenReader mode, i.e., the ">>" link does not show up at all in screenReader mode, but does show up when not using screenReader mode. I filed bug 10407797

My macbook pro keeps logging me out whenever I try to software update. How do I get it to stop and is this something I need to worry about?

Recently my macbook started logging me out at random times and then I thought that maybe if I updated the software it won't do it anymore but whenever I go to click on the software update icon it logs me out. I'm worried that this might be something serious. Any ideas?

an array. Perhaps you expected it to be 'the' position of the found text -- it doesn't. It's an array of all insertion points in the found text.
'The' position of the text (in its parent text) is something like text[0].index ("The index of the Text in the collection or parent object.")

How do I suppress the Font Mapping alert?
We're using a Font Library fla, and the alert blocks the compiler, which blocks our build.
Let's say you have main.fla and fonts.fla. Main.fla doesn't have the font included in it (we don't want to bloat it). But this causes the Font Mapping dialog to come up.
Because it requires user interaction, this blocks our build from running.
Please advise.

Well I'll guess you're using iPhoto 11:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
