How do I keep Finder Tabs open after a restart?
After opening several Tabs in Finder, I find they have closed after I´ve shut down & then (Later), restart my Mac Mini.
The Safari tabs stay open.
Cant find anything in `Finder Preferences´ or in `System Preferences´.
Anyone know???
Thanks Carolyn,
will try that!
Please don´t´think me a complete fool, but wheredo I enter the search under `Go´?
I need to look for & Delete:
~/Library/Saved Application State/com.apple.finder.savedState
And:
Your finder app may be configured NOT to restore the windows. Try this:
defaults write com.apple.finder NSQuitAlwaysKeepsWindows -bool true
I´m afraid I dont know the commands to get to where I need to do the above!
Can you help me one last time please?
Thanks in advance for your time.

How do I keep my tabs open in Firefox for Android?
Sometimes when I open Firefox for Android my tabs will disappear and I will need to scroll to the bottom of "Recent Tabs" and press "Open All." How do I set it so that my tabs stay open? This closing seems to happen every day or two and it means I need to keep reopening all my tabs. They shouldn't close unless I close them.
Hello there,
Try going to: Firefox Menu > Settings > Customize > Tabs to 'Always restore'.
Hope this helps! -
I used to be able to close firefox and have all my opened tabs saved. When I open firefox again, those tabs will be opened as I last closed firefox.
Now, I am not able to do it. The firefox was crashed at one time earlier and I have to open the task manager to force it to close because it is frozen and so was my computer. After I opened it again, there is no tabs saved which I kinda expected. Then I
go on web surfing and browse various websites. Now, when I close firefox, a box pops up warning me about the opened
tabs will be closed. So I googled the symptom and it brought me to this website, telling me that if I set
"tools->open->general->When firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time", it should behave as it was before.
I tried that but it doesn't work.
Any help is appreciated. In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history:
*do not clear the Browsing History
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/remove-recent-browsing-search-and-download-history
Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data. -
How do I keep my tabs open?
With the latest build of Firefox Android, the tab bar will not remain open. As soon as I start interacting with the page, the tab bar slides closed. I'd like for it to remain open.
This is a tablet, which is why I want to leave it open. When I open the tab bar, the whole page slides to the side instead of scaling like it used to. I'm not sure if that's related or not.
I've tried to force close just to make sure I'm loading with that set to false and it doesn't seem to work.
Thanks for your help so far. This behavior is really annoying and I'd hate to have to switch back to Chrome after switching everything over to Firefox! -
How do I keep multiple tabs open in Firefox?
When using Firefox if I am working in a session under one tab and need to open up a different browser, I use the "+" to add another tab and open up a different session. When I go back to the first tab to work, it closes the session on me and I have to log back in again. This is so frustrating! Is this a Firefox thing or did I turn something off on my mac? I am not a computer geek so I apologize if my lingo jives.
Well I'm assuming here you have your OS X 10.6 fully Software Updated and Firefox is at the latest version.

This might be a security issue with the site your logged into, to prevent cross site scripting/hijacking etc. depending upon the site.
I suggest you delete all your installed add-ons, delete Firefox and reinstall FF and it's add-ons for security reasons.
The latest version of FF is 6.01 and removes the compromised Diginor Certificate domain that might be causing your issue with the logged in site.
In your Keychain program in OS X, under the preferences set the certificates to Best Attempt, Best Attempt, OCSP and reboot this will enable constant checks for compromised certificates upon each SSL visit.
Naturally Apple and Microsoft are late to the party in updating their certificates. -
How do I stop Finder-Tabs from closing after ShutDown / Restart???
Hi,
After opening several Tabs in Finder, I find they have closed after I´ve shut down & then (Later), restart my Mac Mini.
The Safari tabs stay open.
Cant find anything in `Finder Preferences´ or in `System Preferences´.
I tried Deleting:
~/Library/Saved Application State/com.apple.finder.savedState
(Thanks to Carolyn Samit, but not a permanent fix)
And also copied & pasted to Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.finder NSQuitAlwaysKeepsWindows -bool true
(Thanks to Miska for tip, but not a permanent fix)
These two actions worked for two Shut Downs / Restarts.
But I have just started up my Mac Mini after turning it off last night, and ALL the Finder-Tabs I left open are gone again!!!
(Just the main Finder window is open!).
Of course, I have "Reopen all windows after Shut Down / Restart" checked.
(The Safari Tabs stay open!).
Anyone know how to get round this, and how to keep the Finder-Tabs open after Shut Down / Restart???
Thanks for all suggestions!
AMI.Hi Carolyn,
My Settings were already set as you described above!
Thanks anyway.
Strange thing is, I´ve just Logged In and all my Tabs are there again!!!
One day here one day not - Somethings not right! - Lets see how it goes over the next couple of days!
Again, Thanks! For all your comments & suggestions.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

How do I make new tabs open to my specified home page instead of blank page?
How do I make new tabs open to my specified home page instead of blank page?
I generally like to avoid add-ons, and the second option is still an extra step - not opening tabs to the homepage, as requested (rather how to switch to your Home page after a tab opens to the blank page).
Here's a wild idea: How 'bout a setting option in Tools > Options > Tabs for "Always open new tabs to my Home page" ? -

How do I keep multiple windows open and switch back and forth?
How do I keep multiple windows open and switch back and forth?
billyg27,
if you hold down a Command key and press the Tab key, it will show a set of icons representing your currently opened programs. Press Tab until you arrive at the program you’d like to switch to, and then release the Command key. -
I have always been able to keep multiple tabs open while working, but by mistake yesterday when I closed firefox I forgot to save all tabs before quitting. Now I can't open multiple tabs....only one.
This issue can be caused by the Ask.com toolbar (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions)
Your system details show that toolbar in the user agent as AskTbMTV/3.12.2.16749

Upon each reboot I find I need to reconstruct all Finder window tabs. Is there a way to keep/restore Finder window tabs after a reboot in Mavericks?
hi
the problem is in the firefox tab strip at the bottom of the page. i have attached two screenshots . when i open more than 6 tabs, they all get compressed into 1 tab. i want all tabs to stay open individually, and the tab strip should therefore have a page scroller icon forming when many tabs open. i have had this in the earlier computer i had, but recently got a new one. now i cant figure how to set firefox to do what i need.
thanks
