How do i make address labels

i am new to mac, difficulty using this system.
How do I create aa mailing list, or do i need to purchase more software.
T have a imac all in one.
Tom

There may be, in fact, a way to do this in Pages, but for simple address labels I use the mac program which is available on the Avery sites which seems to do an alright job.  The software is free, so you could try it and see if you like it and if not, just delete it.

How can I make address labels, preferably matching Avery sizes, in Pages please?  Please don't tell me there is no labels facility!!

If you have your addresses set up in Address Book, the logical place for them, that is also the logical place to print them from.
Pages will only use one data set per page, although there are ways around this. But then that wasn't your question.

  • How do you make address labels in Lion?

I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to make address labels or envelope labels from my address book?  I have done this before, but I recently upgraded my macbook pro to Lion, and now I can't figure it out!  I spent hours yesterday trying everything I could think of, but no luck.  I have tried using Pages, but still nothing!  Can anyone help me?

Did you have an address list defined in your address book last year? If so, you should be able to access it in the new Address Book by clicking on "View" and "Groups" and then (hopefully) your previous list will be there. If it is, just select it and then go to Print. Under "Style" choose "Mailing Labels." Select Layout on the tab next to Labels, and then select the type of labels; then click Labels. Choose from the drop-down menu on the order --I think the default is postal code order. Choose whether or not to print the country. This should work!
If you did not have a Group defined previously, you can go to File and New Group to create one.

You need a database type software like the free LibreOffice which when you go to print, can select the standard Avery label format.
You can buy the Avery labels you want in a office supply store, it should have a number or "compliant with Avery 6750" for instance.
When you go to print your database, it will put the information you want into the correct label format when you go to print. So you select "Avery 6750" as your "paper option" instead of legal, letter etc.
You place the labels paper side down in the printer,  top facing in and click print on the computer and the labels are printed.
LibreOffice Database has the option of taking your Address book contents and importing it.
Under the File > Wizard > Address Data Source.
That's all I can help you with there. I haven't used LibreOffice to print out labels, so I don't know for sure if that capaicity is there or not, but it's a standard office practice for Office type software to do.
It is possible to manually create your own layout, but you have to print over and over until you get all the text right over each label.

  • How to make address labels to print

I'm trying to create labels to use on the back of photos.  I am using Avery 18160 style labels to print on.
    Thank you.

What are you trying ask exactly? Avery 18160 is listed as inkjet labels so obviously you need an inkjet printer.  Then you use whatever software you want that has label templates.  For example, Microsoft Word or iWorks Pages.  Those aren't the only way to make lables, but are the most common.

How do I make labels from Avery templates??
    norman

    norman,
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
I think if you try to make address labels with Pages, you'll end up tearing your hair out. Pages has no database functions and can only paste in one contact per page. You'd be much better off using a program like Mail Factory.

  • How do I make mailing labels?

How do I make mailing labels from my contacts?  Apple support says it can not be done but I can't believe it.  There must be a way...does any one know how?

If you are storing your contacts in the Address Book App, there is definitely a way to make and print mail labels.
    Here's how.

Hopefully, this procedure still works on newer versions of OS X.
    Good Luck!

How can I print address labels from numbers spread sheet

    CAB,
The 5163 template has the following dimensional specs:
    Dimensions & Info
    Length: 4.00000"          Height: 2.00000"
Top Margin: 0.50000"          Bottom Margin: 0.50000"
Left Margin: 0.18000"          Right Margin: 0.18000"
Hor. Spacing (gutter): 0.14000"          Vert. Spacing (gutter): 0.00000"
Intended Use: Mailing Labels, Shipping Labels, Address Labels
There's a great vendor site with this data readily available, better than the Avery site in my opinion. But, you can get the same info in the Contacts Print dialog pane.
You can grab a template matching these dimensions from that vendor site, Copy the table after opening the Word Template in Pages and drop the into a blank Numbers Sheet.
I found that Sheet side margins of 0.15" worked better than 0.18. For some reason the table wanted to flow to the next page to the right with 0.18". Turning off the Headers and Footers and setting Top and Bottom Margins to 0.5" worked well. These adjustments are made in the Sheets Inspector.
So, that will put the template you specified into a Numbers document and you can print labels properly aligned from there. Since your problem statement is a bit lacking in detail, that's all I can offer you at this point.

Is there a way to make address labels using iWork?

I think address Book will print primitive ones directly if you have addresses entered. Print to the equivalent Avery label size and it does it all.

Print them from Contacts/AddressBook or open a Word .doc for the 8160 label, available on Avery's website.

  • How do I make Address Book default for vCards

I use Apple Address Book (6.0) and have the Lion O/S 10.7.1on my 2 Macs.  My Apple Address book syncs with my Gmail (Google Apps) contacts. Recently when I opened a vCard, Outlook for the Mac attempted to open the vCard.  I cancelled this as I no longer us Outlook for the Mac, but have only used Apple Mail and Address Book for several months.  As I cancelled the opening process, there was a brief message, "Rebuilding database".  About 30 minutes later I realized that all contacts in my Apple Address Book were missing. I quickly looked at my Gmail contacts and saw that the only contact was the one for the vCard I imported.  After recovering from a panic attack (I have over 2,000 names in my contact list), I went to my Macbook Air laptop, which was asleep during this time, and was able to export my Address Book to my iMac. The Macbook Air Address Book had synced with Google Apps the day before.
After the recovery, everything seems in order except when I check for duplicates in Google Apps Mail Contacts, I find that I now have 2,000 duplicate contacts.  When I check for duplicates in Apple Mail I am told there are 83 duplicates.
I am still not sure what caused this to happen and I am still considering how to prevent this in the future, and how to resolve the duplicate contacts issue.  I need to understate which contact list dominates - Apple or Gmail?
But my first step is to make Address Book the default for vCards.  How to I do this.  Next I will work on the duplicate problem.

I don't have or use Outlook 2011 but based on my past experience wth Outlook and Entourage it uses its own contacts by default and can't be configured to use an external resource. However, you might learn more on the Outlook support forums since this forum is primarily for Apple products.
