How do I map the source file name to a target table?

I am mapping a source fixed length flat file to oracle target tables. One of the tables is a parent transaction table that stores the date, record number, status, etc. and the file name of the source flat file. The file name will change daily because the date is part of the naming convention. Is there an easy way to determine the source file name and map it?
One option a co-worker is working on is writing a pre-mapping stored procedure. It would insert the file name into a table prior to the mapping. But I was hoping for a cleaner solution.

Use extarnel table to load the data from the file into the table.
Create a procedure which changes the external table definition as the filename chnages.
Use this proceudre in the mapping as a premapping process.

If i de-select the Option ASMA in Adapters means it is showing " null" value in the target field "FileName".
Please Provide the Solution for this

UDF to capture the source file name or the source folder for mapping

Hi All,
i have 2 files - File1 from File2 from 2 different folders- single comm channel FTP (FCC). i have to pass a constant A and B respectively to a field in target structure.
my options are -
either create a new field in source str populating different constants and then map to the target str
or a udf to get the source file name or the source folder so that i can map the constant using the value mapping/FixValue mapping.
please suggest. thanks.

Hi,
please use the UDF to determine the file name. Then based on file name either pass A or B to your target field.
The code is as given below. Just tweak the code to pass either A or B as per your requirement.

Thanks for quick reply. But i am getting error in End to End Scenarios only. If i remove the Return " " statement from the UDF, while activating it is showing the error saying like missing return statement. I also mapped to the top most node to this UDF.

The Home folder isn't named "Home." It is named for the user account it represents.
Who is your "supplier?" Sounds like they're not terribly bright.
Can you provide some details on why they "changed" it. Is this a brand new Mac? Were you having information transferred from another computer?
It sounds like you just need to create a new account and get rid of "Demo."
While logged into the "Demo" account, go to System Preferences in the Apple Menu.
Click on Users & Groups
If the padlock is locked, click on it and enter your password.
Click the + button at the bottom of the list of users. This will create a new account. Fill in the information you'd like to use for your account. The account name is what will be used for the "Home" folder.
Once created, select it from the list and check the box to "Allow user to administer this computer."
You can then log out of "Demo" and log in as your new user. If there is nothing in the Demo account that you want, you can delete it from the Users & Groups System Pref.

If you can write the filename to a text file, you may do the following:
(1) create a text-file containing the name of your source-file.
(2) create an external table using that text-file as input.
Now, you can SELECT the filename from the external table.
Of course, you need a way to : create the flat file, handle the flat file, etc.

How can I change the source file so it is direct from external hard drive?

I am trying to make a movie on imovie of a snowboarding trip that I went on, there is around 80 to 100 gig of mp4 movies that will not fit on my computer that I have stored on my external harddrive. I had the movie half finished then found I could do no more as I had no space left in my mac. I had to delete everything and start again but I'm not doing this until I can find a way of changing the source file so I can take them direct from my external hard drive as to not use up all my computers available space. I have a WD 1TIG hard drive and are using usb connection, is it possible to use fire wire with these? I have had trouble with a lot of the videos I Imported, once they downloaded the file in the viewer window showed up blank and when I mouse over them it places a picture of another file in the window and wont drag and drop into the movie window, like their corrupted or something? Had to delete just about all of them and start again. Also is it possible to select a bunch of videos in the viewer window as to change the dates to the correct dates? Acrobat 5.0 How do I keep the original file name after I have converted a Word doc to PDF?

MY colleague has a certain setting in Acrobat that allows him to keep the original file name when he converts documents from Word to PDF. Every time I convert Word, Acrobat overwrites the filename and names it "untitled.pdf". I have no idea what you are doing for sure. Does your WORD document have a name. I opened a WORD document and selected the Acrobat Distiller printer for AA5, I got the file menu for selecting the name and it was automatically filled in with the DOC changed to PDF. If you are using PDF Maker, then you will need to search there - I removed PDF Maker for AA5 years ago and can't view that part. I see the same types of options in PDF Maker for AA8.1.2 as I saw in the printer for AA5 and guess it is the same. The untitled.pdf suggests that you never saved the original DOC file so it has a name.

That's because you are looking at the Properties and that is not how you create index entries.
Highlight the Index keyword ("Paste" in this example). It shows below what is already linked. If you delete that, the keyword will be displayed in bold to show no keyword is attached. You can add further keywords by dragging them from the Topic List.

I am in the process of doing a batch export and would like to keep everything identical to the source material, including the name. There is quite a bit of footage so deleting the "-Apple ProRes 422 for Progressive material" addition can be time consuming.
Any suggestions?

As was mentioned in the thread you linked to, the easiest way is to create a custom Destination. Here are some step-by-step instructions:
1. Click the Destinations tab.
2. Click the plus sign in the upper right and choose "Local..."

3. Navigate to or create your destination folder. Click "Open" to select the destination.
At this point, you've created a new custom destination. To select it, click the disclosure triangle next to the "Custom" folder. This is where all of your custom destinations are located.
4. Select the custom destination you want to use for your batch.
5. In the inspector, you'll see a box where you can change the "Output Filename Template". By default, it'll just have "Source File Name". If that's all you want, then press return.

Now, when you go back to your batch window and apply this custom destination to your job settings, Compressor will apply the Output Filename Template to your filenames. Basically, it will get rid of the setting name (as long as you only have "Source File Name" in the Filename Template.

That will depend on the book theme you are using. With some of the themes the filename is an integral part of the metadata displayed with the images. In that case you would need to create a new custom master page design without the metadata textbox and replace the master of all your pages (see: http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/#chapter=24%26section=13), or simply change the book theme to a theme without filenames (but that may cause some texts to vanish, so try that only on a copy of your book).

Here are my steps.
1. I upload multiple image (jpg) files onto my photo album.
2. I select the "sharing" by email option for this album.
3. I enter the recipient's email address.
4. The recipient receives my message and clicks on the link.
5. The recipient accesses my photo album and clicks on one of the images.
6. The image opens up to its own screen.
7. The recipient selects the "download" and then save file option.
Here is the part I do not understand. For some reason, during this "download" process, the original name which I have given to the file is replaced by different name. So I was hoping that someone knows how to prevent the file name from being changed during the "download and save" process.
Much appreciated if you can help me find a solution to this problem.

I have owb client on windows2000 and target on linux server. The current plan is to create runtime repository connection for the target and execute mapping from windows where the source files are located.

The problem is not the code or html.
This: "The Java Runtime Environment cannot be loaded from <\bin\server\jvm.dll>
indicates that you are attempting to run the server jvm, and it does not exist. This can be because either the java command option "-server" was used, or a configuration file setting.
As shipped by Sun, the JRE does not include the server jvm; the JDK does. If you want the server jvm in the JRE, copy the \server\ directory and contents from the JDK to the JRE.
If you installed using defaults,
copy from: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0\jre\bin
copy to: C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0\bin
