How do I monitor SSH connections?

Many of my co-workers have the ability to SSH into my computer, both at work, and from home. Is there a unix command, or an app on my computer that I can use to monitor who is connected to me?
Also - if someone is messing with me, how can I disconnect them, or quit what they are trying to do?
Thanks!

You can use the command last to see what the login history looks like.
Aso, there are logs:
/var/log/secure.log
you can examine logs in that same folder to see some things, although I can't tell you details.

  • Monitor database connections in a database pool

    Hi,
Do you know how I can monitor database connections in a database pool.. ? I am using Jboss container.
The purpose is to monitor connections that are closed and refresh them.
    Thanks,

There a firewall.. across which my application makes connections to the database.. the firewall times out due to the inactivity. and my application dies.
I was thinking may be I could check for the database connections in a pool and then one that is not being used for a long time .. close it and again refresh the connection.

  • How can I know the connections are pooled?

    Hi. everyone.
I am wondering how I can monitor the connections are pooled.
    I am using web-logic as a web server and oracle9ir2 as a
    database server.
When I was deploying an application to the web-logic, I created a
    connection pool.
And then, I run the application respectively(exactly two).
However, there is only one session in the "V$SESSION" dictionary.
I do not understand why there is only session in the V$SESSION, although
    I run two application respectively.
In addition, how can I monitor the oracle conenctions are pooled?
Does V$SESSION have nothing to do with oracle connection pool?
    Thanks in advance.
    Have a good day.
    Best Regards
    Ho.

    Dear Sabdar Syed.
    Thanks for your reply.
Here is the result of v$license.
    SQL> select * from v$license;
    SESSIONS_MAX : 0
    SESSIONS_WARNING : 0
    SESSIONS_CURRENT : 6
    SESSIONS_HIGHWATER : 6
    USERS_MAX : 0
    What does it mean, sessions_max(0), sessions_current(6), users_max(0)
    I am still confused.
Could you give me a more detailed explanations?
Thanks in advance. Have a good day.
    Regards.

When I had a PC I simply took the wire going to my monitor and connected to my big screen TV to watch Netflix movies...How do I take them from my IMAC and connect them to my TV now?

    This could be problematic.
It will depend on what model of iMac you have.
You may want to post machine info.
blue apple > about this mac > more info button. Click on the hardware line. It has a little triangle in front of the work hardware.
    Leave out the serial number.
    Example:
    Machine Name: iMac
    Machine Model: PowerMac4,1
    CPU Type: PowerPC 750 (33.11)
    Number Of CPUs: 1
    CPU Speed: 600 MHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
    Memory: 768 MB
    Bus Speed: 100 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: 4.1.9f1
Most of the iMac's have sometype of video output port on the back.  You will problably need a converter.
The 'hollywood' industry has been making it more difficult to get video out over time to prevent copying.

  • Ipfilter reload rules - how it impac the current SSH connection?

    Hi,
    I login to another solaris 10 system thru SSH, and change the ipfilter rultes in /etc/ipf/ipf.conf, generally as follows;
    - flush all the existing rules (not the state table)
    - reload the rules from cfg file
I've sometimes my SSH connection is not impacted, but sometimes it can hange for a while, and a couple CR hits could bring it back...
Anybody can explain how this part of ipfilter works internally? I suppose if the state table is flushed out, the SSH connection would definitely be shut-down?
    Thanks

Seems that the problem was because my J2E app was running in a tomcat servlet container as a service. The service user account was set to the local service account. Plink was looking for its public key in CURRENT_USER (i.e. local service user) and not finding it.
I've added the required registry settings to the default user in the registry and these get picked up by the local system user.
Hey presto - plink can connect!

  • Please Help.  How can you monitor a directory using jndi connection to a ldap server?

How can you monitor a directory using jndi connection to a ldap server? I
want the ldap server to monitor the content change in a file system
directory on another computer on the network. Can someone please help.
    Thanks
    Fred

    Hi,
Why do you want to use LDAP for Hard disk monitoring..???
U can do this by creating a MD5 checksum for all the files existing in some
    perticular
directory and every hour or any configurable period u can recalculate the
    checksum
to find out the change in the content.
I guess all u need is to get the code for "updatedb" utility of Linux and
    instrument it for ur needs..
    Hope it helps...

  • I am unintentionally come to delete the bluetooth connection to my heart rate monitor in my iPhone 4s. How can I restore the connection?

I am unintentionally come to delete the bluetooth connection to my heart rate monitor in my iPhone 4s. How can I restore the connection?

Thanks, but unfortunately for me the Polar H7 does not have any buttons or anything that can actively affect the pairing, it is manifest just a transmitter. Pairing can apparently only be done by finding the Polar H7 in the unit that you want to pair with (my 4s) and after my delete of the device, my iPhone 4s does not retrieve it as a Bluetooth device.

  • How do I monitor a TCP/IP connection if my data does not come perdiodically?

I have an application that connects to several acquisition devices where I get TCP packet data only when something changes. If the line gets cut, how can I monitor this so that the user of the application will know that no data will come from that certain acquisition device? Since the data does not come periodically, I cannot monitor the error from the TCP read function, i.e. Error 56 - Timeout.
Is there a way to find out if an IP exists for example? (Such as a ping but it shoudl be fast)
    Thanks

    arikb-
You can use the System Exec.vi to run a ping command through the command line and see if it is responding. You could also program the client such that it responds to a simple command with a verification message at any time. This would be similar to sending a ping, but it will also let you know if your LabVIEW program is on the other listening on the correct port.

  • How do I monitor connection speeds on the E4200?

All my previous routers have allowed me to monitor my connection speeds however I can't find this in this router.  I found the client table under "status" but I have not been able to find the connection speeds anywhere.  I like to make sure that my devices are running at close to 300Mbps and not 54Mbps in case I have a connection setup wrong.  I have searched in the forums without much luck.  Thanks.

Tomato or DD-WRT opensource firmware would allow this...keep in mind that the E4200V2 will NEVER be supported by any opensource non-OEM firmware!

  • More DIsplay Problems on HPx2301 Monitor when connected to my MacBook Pro - OSX Snow Leopard

    1) HP x2301 monitor
    2) OSX 10.6.8 AND OSX 10,7
    3) On-Screen Message "Monitor Going to Sleep"
I previously reported that the problems with my new monitor had been fixed with a change in DVI cable.
Unfortunately the fix lasted for one day.  I powered off both the monitor and macbook, came back the next day and the monitor no longer detects the power book.  Same is the case with an iMac and an old mac-mini.  My external older Viewsonic (connected also via the same DVI cable) has no problems.
When the monitor is connected to the macbook, the macbook detects it and acts like it has dual screens - the System Preferences>Display app shows both monitors (and allows me to change resolution of the HP.  Dispite this, the Monitor cannot detect a signal from the Mac.
Looks like a defective Monitor - will be contacting HP in the morning.
Also of note is that the included Documentation describes 6 control buttons on the base of the unit, including an Auto Adjust button for the user to " Press to activate the auto adjustment feature to optimize the screen image."  Unfortunately, there are only 5 control buttons - there is no Auto Adjust button.
The documentation makes no mention of OSX, although it appears that drivers for the monitor have been included in the OSX distributions.

I'm back up - now using HP to mirror laptop screen.  Got replacement DVI cable from HP, plugged it in an Monitor is working (again).  So I have 3 seemingly identical cables - 2 supplied by HP, and one an older one I used with a Viewsonic DVI monitor.
    1) The cable that shipped  with the Monitor never worked,
    2) The older cable worked for one day with the HP,  then stopped working on the HP monitor, but worked with the older VIewsonic monitor,
    3) The replacement cable from HP that is working currently.
I believe they are all DVI-i - pins appear to be identical on all three.
So I don't think its a settings or cable type issue.  I suspect that the HP may have some circuitry that makes it very persnickity when it comes to signal detection - so perhaps there's some small variation is signal quality btween cables - not sure how to check that though.
We shall see if the cable 3 works for extended period.

  • Monitor database connections/sessions

Hi, i would know if anyone has suggestion on how i can monitor the number of connections to the db from a particular host?
From the oracle client's oracle enterprise manager console, i can go network->database->instance->sessions, i can see the which remote host is the connection coming from and what program is using the connection.
From the OS level i could do a primitive `ps -ef | grep ORACLE_SID ` to see and count the total number of connections.( but i cant see which remote is the connection coming from)
I would like to achieve the purpose of remotely monitoring of the DB, if there are too many sessions coming from a particular host, running a particular program, send out alerts.
Are there any oracle commands or OS scripting that i can use?

Potentially, you could query the v$session data dictionary to get this sort of information for active connections. You might also want to audit connections and query the audit tables.
Of course, unless you're trying to monitor a problem that is very particular to your environment, I'm not sure how useful the sort of monitoring you're proposing would be. Knowing that there are a larger number of connections from a particular host than normal wouldn't seem to be a particularly interesting event.

  • How Do We Monitor HTTP Receiver Communication Channel

    Hi Exports,
How do we monitor the HTTP Receiver communication channel. Could you please share your ideas.
I am able to send the message to http to third party system. i want to monitor all messages which it's goes to third party system. Same like if you go to component monitoring we have communication channel monitoring over there we can do monitoring by adapter but when we choose http communication channel there is 0 messages.
Please provide monitoring thing those messages which is goes to third party system.
    Advance thanks
    Regards

There isnt any transaction to directly monitor the HTTP adapter. However u may do the following:
    1. To test the HTTP adapter you can just test the adapter_plain service in TCODE SICF.
    2. TCODE : SMICM and then Shift + F1 and you can see the status of the HTTP server
    3. You can go to SM59 to see whether the HTTP connections between XI and R/3 are up and running

  • Monitoring total connection

I am looking at scaling my application and would like to know how I could monitor the total connection to database in real time. Is there a tool out of the box which I could use? I am running Oracle 9i.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    You can configure audit session.
Into init.ora, AUDIT_TRAIL = DB (restart your database),
    Onto your database, alter system audit session;
    And see sys.aud$
For example, you can have the max simultaneous session for the day before :
    select nvl(max(MaxSession),0), sysdate-1
    from
    (select a.sessionid, a.TIMESTAMP#, count(*) MaxSession
    from sys.aud$ a, sys.aud$ b
    where a.TIMESTAMP# between b.TIMESTAMP# and nvl(b.LOGOFF$TIME, sysdate)
    and trunc(a.TIMESTAMP#)=trunc(sysdate)-1
    group by a.sessionid, a.TIMESTAMP#)
