How do I move files between different accounts on my MacBook Pro?

Recently, I have got the new MacBook Pro and so have had to transfer files from my old Dell to it. To do this I used migration assistant and it worked successfully, however, all the files I transferred have been loaded onto a new account on my Mac, I was wondering if anybody could tell me how I can transfer these files from the account it has created into the one I use regularly and all my other files are stored in. Thank you

Share files with others using a drop box
To give a copy of a file to another user, you can copy the file to the user’s Drop Box folder.
If you can’t find a computer you’re looking for on the network, make sure the other user has file sharing turned on.
To give a file to another user on your computer:
Open the user’s Public folder (in their home folder in the Users folder on your hard disk).
Hold down the Option key and drag the file to the Drop Box in the user’s Public folder.
To give a file to someone who uses another computer on your network:
Open a Finder window and browse for the computer in the Finder window sidebar (under Shared).
Select the computer, and then open the user’s Public folder.
Drag the file to the Drop Box folder, which is in the user’s Public folder.

  • How do I share files between my iPhone 5 and MacBook Pro?

I need to transfer files between my iPhone 5 and my MacBook Pro. The latter is running Mavericks. I have enabled AirDrop on both devices (I chose "AirDrop for Everyone" on my iPhone), but when I click the AirDrop file in Finder on my Mac, my iPhone doesn't appear.
    Thoughts?

Sorry; I've got Yosemite installed on my MacBook Pro, not Mavericks anymore.

  • How do I transfer files between my iMac and my MacBook Pro using an ethernet cable (not with AirPort)?

Even though I connect my computers with an ethernet cable the files are still being transferred wirelessly.  I can tell because the transfers (usually around 4GB) take a few minutes with AirPort off, but 30 minutes to an hour with AirPort on.  I want to transer the files and still have AirPort on since I work on both computers at the same time and want to maintain the connection to the internet.

Be sure Ethernet is listed first in System Prefs > Network.
If it isn't, click the "gear" icon and select Set Service Order.

  • HT4436 how do I set up an icloud account on my macbook pro with 10.6.8 - all it has is mobile me under internet and wireless????

help, how do I set up an icloud account on my macbook pro with 10.6.8 — all it has is "mobile me" under internet and wireless on my system doc????

You should check that your Mac meets the requirements for upgrading.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
To purchase it you will have to ring Apple at the number given at the bottom left of this page.
The requirements for Mountain Lion are listed here:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
It is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications).
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

  • I have some audio files on my previous phone which I would like to export to my new iPhone 5. I am told that you can only import files from iTunes. Is that true? If not, how do I import files from my phone - or my Macbook pro laptop-to my phone?  Thanks!

iTunes will only import music from your phone that was purchased from the iTunes store.  To transfer music from other sources you have to use 3rd party software, such as PhoneView.

    Hello Whigged-out,
It sounds like you would like to share one library between two different users on your iMac.  I found an article with steps you can take to accomplish this:

  • How I could tranfer files from my iPad to my MacBook Pro without any software?

I never found a method how to do transfering files between iPad and MacBook Pro without any software.
    Exist some method?
If you know how to do it, please help me as faster as you can!
    THANK YOUU!!

    Hi,
Unfortunately general file transfer is not currently supported on iOS devices. If you have apps installed on your iPad that support file sharing, you can exchange files with these apps by connecting your iPad to your computer and selecting the Apps tab on the device's page in iTunes. If you scroll down here, you will find a list of apps, that support file sharing, and you can copy file to/from the particular app, but there's no way of accessing the iPad's file system without 3rd party software, and even if you use one, it will be able to access the file storage areas of the file system, but not the OS root folder. You need a jailbroken device to do that.
iTunes also copies all your photos and videos from your devices. The only official way of moving file between iOS devices is with iTunes. If you consider iTunes a software (it is one) than there's absolutely no way for that, if your device is not jailbroken.
Just to be clear, I'm against jailbreaking, because it makes your device vulnerable, and can create a lot of problems, that would not exist on a factory device.
    Hope this helps
    Regards,
    Gábor

  • How do I transfer a movie file from my iPad to my MacBook Pro?

I recently accidentally deleted all media files that existed in the iTunes Media folder on my MacBook Pro. I have managed to recover almost every file, the only one I have yet to recover is a movie that was redeemed through iTunes after I purchased it as part of a DVD/Blue-Ray/Digital Copy combo pack. It is no where to be found on my hardrive yet the 'phantom' file still extsts within my iTunes library. After checking all of our family's Apple devices (2 iPhones, 5 iPads, 1 older MacBook, & 1 MacBook Pro) I was delighted to discover the movie still exists on my stepson's iPad Mini! Only now I cannot seem to find a way to 'transfer' this movie file back onto my MacBook Pro. I am refusing to sync or update his iPad Mini in fear that I might loose the only copy of the movie I have left! Can someone please help me transfer this file back to my MacBook Pro? Thanks so much!

This talks about iTunes 10, but it should work the same way in iTunes 11. Transferring purchases for an iDevice to your Mac.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2554
It should be File>Devices>Transfer Purchases, I think
You must be using the same Apple ID in iTunes on your Mac that your son is using on the Mini or the movie will not transfer.

  • How do i move all my music from my old Macbook Pro laptop to new iMac desk top?

I have a 2009 macbook pro and want to move all my music over to my new iMac desk top...how do i do this?
    thx

iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 - a somewhat bewildering and not always easily understandable set of options.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the iTunes Library.itl file in the moved iTunes folder.
For the record there's this reference for iTunes 11 but it really doesn't strike me as having the specifics you need. iTunes 11 for Mac: Move your library to another computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12168

  • How do I transfer files from external hard-drive onto Macbook Pro?

How do I transfer files that were put on my external hard-drive (from my old Macbook Pro) via Time Machine onto my new Macbook Pro?

I've already set up my new MacBook (which is Lion, I think the other mac had the snow lepoard version)...so I guess I'll have to use the Migration Assistant, not the Setup Assistant?  I know if I do that it'll set up a new user account instead of synching it up like I wanted but that's OK.  But when I plugged my external drive into the new mac, it just backed up the mac and didn't give me an option to transfer files.  I guess I'll study this link and see if I can't figure it out...thanks for the link!  If you have any other advice about specifically migration assistant, let me know...

  • How do I open an additional iTunes account on my MacBook Pro in a foreign country?

I have a iTunes account in America, but now living in Germany and want to purchase items on the German site, can I open an additional account on the same computer? Can you have different accounts in different countries at the same time? I understand you need a foreign address and foreign credit card from that country, but can you have two accounts at the same time? Any additional information would be helpful...

Yes you can have tow accounts.

  • How to combine external hard drive iTunes account to my MacBook Pro's iTunes account?

    Hey All,
I have external hard drive that contains my Macbook Air's iTunes account, and I want to combine it to my 'main' MacBook Pro's iTunes account.
I have spent endless hours organizing the music on my external hard drive (ie: genres, groupings, comments, etc) and am hoping to retain all of this precious information.
I am a newbie and obviously not very tech savy.
Any and all help is appreciated.
Ask me anything to assist in the process and I will get back to your promptly.
    Cheers,
    Danny

I just answered a question like this about an hour ago so I won't type it all in again.  No, there isn't an easy way to merge libraries.  You can copy the entire iTunes library to the internal drive and then try to export playlists and import them into the other library,  Haven't done it myself but it may work.  Fortunately most of the things you mention are contained inside the files themselves (unless you use WAV format) so even if you end up having to add the files to the main library as new files they will still have your data (but not ratings, or date added, or playlists).

  • Move files between iCloud accounts

ok just found out my secretary (who uses my old computer) and me use different iCloud storage accounts.
Like with dropbox, can i send her files without me actually having to send her an email with the file?
Can i send files (again, like in dropbox) to people telling them they can access a particular file?
    Many thanks for your replies,
    Mark
