How do I open a LeCory .trc binary file in labview

We have several Lecory scopes witch create large binary files to save room on there hard drive. the files are .rtc. I would like to open these files using labview

Alan from LeCroy Tech Support here...
Attached is a decode I put together, mostly using code from the lcwave driver. The VI will read a binary file, and return the voltage array, horizontal offset (aka "t0") and the horizontal interval (dt), among other things. It'll handle both BYTE and WORD mode files, as well as hi-Lo and Lo-Hi byte ordering.
If what you are needing is a tool to decode a large number of files that already exist, then all you need to do is use the "Batch Waveform Conversion" feature of LeCroy's ScopeExplorer application. This is available at http://www.lecroy.com/tm/Library/Software/home.asp?menuid=8. This will convert all trc files in a folder to ASCII with columns for time and voltage.
If instead you are needing to decode files so that you can then analyze the data, then the attached VI or the diadem plug in is certainly a better solution. I couldn't tell you which is faster...
Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions!

Alan

How do I open a password protected excel file created on a PC in numbers 09, on a MacBook Air?  I get a message that the "file is encrypted and can't be opened"

This is actually not true; I support users who are doing this w/ Excel 2011 (v14.2.2+) for Mac and Windows users w/ Excel 2003 & 2007.  Win users are from finance dept, and who have pasword-protected various budget files.  The Mac users are (surprise) "creative" users, who enter pw to unlock and edit these budget files.
These files are shared from a Mac server (running 10.6.8 server), and I do have an erratic problem where all users have read-only access to these pw-protected Excel files.  The manual work-around has been to copy the troublesome file(s) and confirm users have full access again.  I also do a shuffling of filenames, so that the new, working file has original file name.
FYI: the Mac server POSIX and ACL permissions are correct, and don't appear to be source of the problem.
It's easy an SMB file-locking issue or concurrent users trying to edit these files.  I keep reminding them that Excel is not a database!

  • How do I open a iMovie 2.0 file in iMovie HD? Does it convert?

How do I open a iMovie 2.0 file in iMovie HD? Does it convert?
I have a movie from iMovie vers. 2.0.1. I want to open it on our new Mac Mini which uses iMovie HD 5.0.2.
Please tell me this is doable. Or can I get a copy of iMovie 2.0 to run it on my new Mac? I want to make copies of the movie by burning a dvd. Pls help.

iMovie 2.0.1 ran in Mac OS 9, not Mac OS X. If I recall, it is necessary to boot your Mac into Mac OS 9 to run it. It won't run in Mac OS 9 Classic running inside Mac OS X. Your Mac cannot boot into Mac OS 9, so you probably can't run iMovie 2.0.1.
You probably wouldn't want to anyway, for versions of iMovie that ran in Mac OS 9 used the OS 9 file name structure, which causes problems for projects converted to Mac OS X.
The simplest solution is to simply import the project.mov file that's inside the iMovie 2 project folder to a new iMovie HD project. (Don't import the iMovie 2 project file, import its .mov file.) Because of the name problem, it's possible this won't work either, but it probably will.
That will deliver the entire iMovie 2 project as a single clip to the iMovie HD project. The clips you had in iMovie 2 won't be editable, but everything will be there and play in the proper order.

How can i open a raw nikon D300s file in photoshop 7.0.1?

The D300s was first supported in Camera Raw 5.5

    Your options:
    Join the Cloud, or

  • How to read a certain range from binary file

    Dear all LabView experts!
I've attempted to acquire data as fast as I can from TDS 2024 via GPIB interface. The data will be saved into one binary file and be used for later analysis.
The program that is included here will perform continuous acquiring and save all the points into 1 file.
I used WHILE loop to do this job and each loop will take 2500 points from the scope.
After that, I would like to read the file such that every 2500 points will be read out and analyzed.
can you please show me how to do this?
I've acknowleged that 2 inputs: pos. mod and pos.offset should be able to provide random access to the binary at any point. However, I cannot have this done
    THank you very much

    Hi CSUEB,
Thanks for your patience - and for the sample data.
Here's a Reader VI that will work (as long as the byte-stream type length is 20004 elements.)
    Cheers!

  • How do I open a pw protected zip file?

This question appears to be different from similar questions asked because I HAVE the password. I really don't want to download extra safe-cracker's-anonymous software to hack into it. The file just never gives me the option of entering it. I have the zip file, I double-click on it, it gives me an error message. I right-click on it but no options there either. How do I open it such that it gives me a chance to unlock it?
Appreciate the help. (and yeah, I have no idea if I'm in the right community - sorry about that if I'm in the wrong place)

The zip file format is not a nice, standardized format. You could have a weird zip file that is technically not bad, but isn't supported by the built-in software on Mac OS X. In some cases, when zip files won't open, I've had success opening them with The Unarchiver, which is available both in the App Store and outside it:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-unarchiver/id425424353?mt=12
    http://unarchiver.c3.cx
(I don't know if there's a difference in functionality between the two... there could be, but if there is, I am not aware of it.)
It's also possible the zip file is corrupted, and won't be openable by anything.

  • How to create an object of a binary file?

Does anyone know how I may create a serializable object of a binary file?
    Thanks.

    Sorry for the late reply.
No, I'm not trying to deserialise a serialised object. My intent is to create a serialisable object from a binary file and then store this object in a JMS Queue.
One option is to create a byte array of the binary file. Wondering if there are other options available.

    Johnsold.
    Thank you for your answer.
I have tested you vi LECTURE-ZOOM.2.vi, and I think there is some problems with my application.
First, let me transduce the vi into words : if columns index is more than the max columns value, then you stop, and the same think with the rows index.
With the sift register you make a memory allocation for the array that changes every loop.
By doing this way, I have two problem.
When I read a big file, the memory allocation takes a lot of memory, because the array allocation in memory changes every loop.
Besides, when I run the vi, the columns and rows are completly wrong, because, the command "chanel number is not respected : if I put 7 chanels, I have 5 chanels on the array.
Then, When I have it, I compare the "sortie" array versus "entrée" array, and I seems that AFTER decimation (1 point taken on 5), I have more points at the end than at the begining.
I give you a sample of a data file (compressed in zip...) to test your vi.
It's a 6 chanels data file, puted in a array.
When I try to run the vi you modify for me, I seems that it doexn't work because the result was totaly wrong... :-(
I think that I make a mistake/error in the vi understanding, because I try to change some parts of your vi, to adapt it to my application, but it doesn't work.
What do you think about my way of read the datas?
How can I change the vi to obtain the same array than in mine.
To see what I obtain, just lunch the vi in my next post with the data file in this post.
