How do I overlay 4 cursors on the XY-graph?

I try to overlay 4 cursors on the XY graph as shown in the VI attached to this question, but only 2 cursors are visible on the graph. What should I do to make all 4 cursors appear on the graph?

You need to use the CursorList property, which is an array of cursor attributes. This will initialize the nuber of cursor elements. I have attached a working VI.

  • How do you plot multiple curves on the same graph when using a while loop?

    I am writing a program that will plot the IV Output chracterisitcs curves for a MOSFET transistor. I have two sweep variables Vg and Vd. For each Vg valve selected, Vd is swept from its start to stop voltage creating a graph for that Vg valve. Both of the sweeps are done using while loops. Ideally I would like to display all of the Vg plots on the same graph while having the ability to do real-time graphing. Can anyone help me figure this problem out? I have attached my program. Hi Tammy & Tica T,
    As far as I see it - this thread is a very bad version of already existing bad version......
    http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=127857
    I expected, that an Applications Engineer from NI knows something about  a Transistor and how an Output characteristic looks like !!  Take a look to a typical Transistor Datasheet ( e.g. n-channel MOSFET) - you will see, that there is no relation of ID vs Time like in your example ( values vs time )  but  IDrain vs VDrain at different VGate's ( no relation to Mr. Bill Gates ).
    Find attached a vi, that in general does what you need - drawing of  curves vs x-axis (XY-graph in use)  - in test_sweep.zip.  And that you geet an impression, how it might be done ...... dynamic Output characteristic of a Transistor with Standard Equipment of a Lab ( Scope + Generator + Power Supply ) find in addition a Frontpanel - picture. One of the interesting points here is - the self-heating effect; visible on ch3 of scope - 5µs Pulse is already a very long time...... This measurement was done in order to compare with our own Transistors.........
    Hope this helps a little bit to understand, what we are talking about.

  • How Can I add a object to the scene Graph ??

    Hi all!
    I have set up a 3d scene Graph. Now I want to add a object (for example,a cone) to the scene Graph. How can I do ???
    thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    if you want to add your cone to a branchgroup "mainbranchgroup", you have to set mainbranchgroup.setCapability(BranchGroup.ALLOW_CHILDREN_WRITE) while creating this branchgroup (and before compiling the scene).
    Then, when you want to add the cone, you just have to add a child to the mainbranchgroup.
    I hope that helps.

  • Center the cursor on the Waveform Graph?

    I have a waveform graph where the user can adjust the scale on both the X and Y axes.  The "problem" that I am having is that if the scale's range is set too far from where the cursor is at, the cursor will be off screen and not selectable.  So, I am trying to center the cursor to the scale when the scale is changed or via a button.  Here is the code that I have written for one of the Cursor plots:
    Select Case setBlueCursor
    Case 1
    blueCursorPt.Plot = plotInlineTorque
    inlineTorqueMax = yAxisInlineTorque.Range.Maximum
    inlineTorqueMin = yAxisInlineTorque.Range.Minimum
    blueCursorStartY = (inlineTorqueMax + inlineTorqueMin) / 2
    blueCursorStartX = (XAxis.Range.Maximum + XAxis.Range.Minimum) / 2
    blueCursorPt.YPosition = blueCursorStartY
    blueCursorPt.XPosition = blueCursorStartX
     This code will center the cursor like I want but then I can't move the cursor after that as it is "stuck" at the position that I have coded it.  The problem appears to be with the last two lines of code here.   I do not know of any other way to do this though.  I have tried the "moveCursor" method but the end result ends the same way, with the cursor stuck in the center and can't move.  Any help on a solution?  Is there a better, easier way to do this?  I'm new to Measurement Studio and .NET.
    Thank you

    This code works.  It appears that I was calling the subroutine that this code is located in over and over in another part of my program.

  • How to create a blinking property on the XY graph?

    Hello.
    I am monitoring two lines that has a chance to collide from each other. The lines are represented through the XY Graph.
    The user would like to see a "blinking" rectangle or square shape (depending on the lenght of the line) enclosing the line,
    if collision is imminent. But if there is no collision, the rectangle or square shape will not be visible on the XY graph.
    This is for the operators visual to check where is the collision might happen.
    I attached a simple illustration of what i wanted to do.
    1. How can I create the rectngle or suare shape figure if i am only given coordinates at the end points of the line?
    2. How can i create the blinking property in the XY graph?
    I would greatly appreciate for any help if above is possible.
    Thanks a lot.

    Based on what you're saying it sounds like you're already determining if you have a collision situation and are turning on the LED. To draw the rectangle you can juse use the drawing VIs to draw on on the graph's drawing layers. You have three available to you: foreground, background, and middle. Examples ship with LabVIEW to show you how to use them. As for the blinking part you would need to handle this yourself. I would do it by having a separate loop that does the drawing. If the blinking condition is set, then you just need to toggle the box on and off (by clearing the picture to turn if off, and then drawing the rectangle to turn it on).

  • How to have a vertical grid lineon the waveform graph indicator for every 10% percent of the maximum X axis value?

    Hi,
    how to have a vertical grid line on the waveform graph indicator for every 10% percent of the maximum X axis value, so the x axis will split into 10, the vertical grids line in total will be 11 (including first and last)
    Example if the maximum X axis value is 11.56, first vertical grid is at the origin(0), second vertical grid is at 1.156 and continue to last one 11.56

    Thanks JohnM and Evan,
    the increment work great and i modify it to pass the 10% into "start" too, so it will start at the point of 10% of maximum range

    Okay...so if I descide on rewiring my layout and not saving the entire array, how big is the buffer? because I want to be able to see the whole graph and be able to zoom and return to full view during runtime (possible right now).
    Also, you mentioned I could plot the 2D data directly? without adding timestamps to each Y-value? Will it only buffer one timestamp instead of my solution right now that saves as many timestams as I have channels in an array? Maybe the best would be to keep my value-array and then just add timestamps to the last values and then pass it to the XYgraph? If the buffer can handle that many values that is.
    If I were to abandon buffering the entire array (would be real nice indeed, since it frees up a lot of memory), I then need something to call on excel to import my semicolon separated textfile at the end. (textfile logged separatly) Right now I just call a new sheet and insert my array values.

  • How to set a busy cursor when the excel report pops-up(in Excel)?

    I'm using LabVIEW 7.1 and Report Generation Toolkit for MS Office to build a VI. at the end of each session when the data in a certain peroid of time was collected, the data will be transmmited to Excel report. the problem is during the poping-up of Excel report, if the cursor clicks inside Excel accidently, all the collected data will disappear and the blanks in Excel will no longer be filled automatically. I have tried to use Set Busy.vi, but it only works in VI panel, not in Excel. Will someone please help me?

    Hi jingli,
    For changing cursor appearance, you can visit another post on the forum:
    http://exchange.ni.com/servlet/ProcessRequest?RHIVEID=101&RNAME=ViewQuestion&HOID=506500000008000000272E0000&ECategory=LabVIEW.LabVIEW+General
    (search for mouse pointer appearance in this forum if the URL doesn't work)
    Another suggestion would be setting the windows appearance to "minimum" when you open your Excel report (wire it at the New Report VI).

  • Move the name of cursor (not the cursor itself) on the XY graph

    I use cursor list property to overlay cursors on the XY graph, everything looks fine except that the name of the cursor and the cursor are at the same position, so it's hard to read the name of the cursor. Is there anyway to dynamically move the name of the cursor?

    No, you cannot do this programatically, the cursor name position may only be moved manually when the Name is "Trackable" (when Allow Drag == TRUE). However, you can use cursors in pairs of two to accomplish this. Use the first one as a normal cursor and the second one only for the cursor name, making the line (Hair Style) and point (Point Style) invisible (=0). If you have multiple cursors, just treat them as pairs and multiple your index by two, when finding the index of the pair.
    Good luck,

  • Transition measurement vi cursors displayed in waveform graph are moving outside of scale

    Using a waveform graph to display pressure over time. I wanted to be able to calculate the fall time of the pressure over time so I'm using the Transition Measurement vi. I copied exactly what was in the example for transition measurement inside help and it is correctly determining the falling transition time but I am having a problem with the cursors on the waveform graph. I should be seeing a set of green vertical cursors marking out the fall start time and fall end time like in the picture I've attached (capture2) like in the example. The problem is they both always start at 3.43 (capture1) and after each sample period they increment by one (4.34, 5.34, 6.34) The come right out of the bundle from the transition measurement output as those numbers. The period of the signal I'm interested in is always less than 2 seconds, so I never see the vertical cursors.
    I've tried substituting my daq signal with a sine wave generator and it does the same thing.
    The block diagram is in the first capture
    also I would be interested in finding out exactly how the numbers wired to the active cursor property of the property node for a waveform graph relate back to the actual cursors on the graph. Are they just automatically numbered starting with 0 from the top-down?

    Hi Wayland,
    The reason the cursors are always apparent in the example VI for the Transition Measurement.vi, is because the signal being generated is always resetting. So, the signal resets to a 'new' signal for the cursors to go over and therefore always remain in the somewhat same location. The Waveform Graph is also configured in such a way that it will not move or continue to show new data coming in, the data cursors have moved onto. So in your case, you will want to right click the graph and make sure "Ignore Time Stamp" is not checked/selected. This will make it so the graph keeps up with your incoming data and the cursors. You can check this in the example file by removing the True Constant going to the waveform generator and changing the time stamp option previously mentioned.
    In order to view the available cursors and their numbered position, you can right click on the Waveform Graph and select properties. In the properties window there is a Cursors tab, inside this tab at the top is a drop down menu that lists all of available cursors, indexed starting with 0 at the top.

  • Errors with multi-plot cursors on Mixed Signal graphs

    Using a Mixed Signal graph, it seems that a multi-plot cursor does not snap correctly if XScale.Multiplier is not set to 1 - it seems to ignore it altogether.  A single-plot cursor on the same graph does not have this problem.  Am I missing something?
    In the attached VI, XScale.Multipler = 0.1, and Cursor 1 (Single-Plot) shows the correct value, but Cursor 2 (Multi-plot) does not.
    Attachments:
    MixedSignalCursor.vi ‏14 KB

    Hello,
    The behavior I see is that the multi-plot cursor which is snapped to plot 0 seems to generally follow an "imaginary plot" which corresponds to a scaled version of plot 0, where the scale factor is the value wired to the XScale.Multiplier property.  I don't think this is desired behavior so I have filed a corrective action request to R&D to have this addressed.  I am sorry for the inconvenience - hopefully you can live with an X-scale multiplier of 1, or the single plot cursors for the time being.  It also takes the offset property similarly, offsetting the "imaginary plot" by whatever value is set there.
    In any event, if this poses a significant problem with additional contingencies, please let me know and I'll be sure to include any updated information in the corrective action request!
    Thank you,

    You've been down this path before  - and the response is exactly the same.
    how to replace cursor logic
    And I'll suggest that you post the entire code - since you repeatedly delete 2 table variables but only populate one. The setting of @maxID also seems to have no purpose. And perhaps the issue here isn't the cursor but the general approach.  Who knows
    - but it appears you may have prematurely assumed that the cursor is the problem.

    a) the value of the open cursor parameter is set extremly low (default is something like 1000). Low would be something like 10.
    b) <strike>you have many concurrent users(=sessions) and </strike>the application does not use bind values
    In this case each select will open a new cursor, instead of reusing it.
    c) you have a select that opens a cursor for each line. This can happen with a statement where you have the CURSOR keyword somewhere in the select or where clause. Those cursors will be closed when the select is finished. But during the run time of the select, all cursors stay open.
    To track the number of "open cursors" during the day you would need to implement some monitoring. Maybe based on the view that was already mentioned.
    Edited by: Sven W. on May 16, 2011 2:30 PM - since the parameter is on session level, other open cursors should not influence it much.
