How do I pass parameters modified by the SequenceFileLoad callback?

I have some parameters in a sequence file that I want modified based on where the test station is located. I do not have that much experience with callbacks and have been reading up but wanted to reach out to the community as well. I know now that whatever is modified in the SequenceFileLoad callback is not passed onto the main sequence as it has not been started at this point. So what I am trying to do is have the operator choose a test facility once and have the parameters set and not have to choose everytime the sequence is initiated. I basically want the paramters set once, like when the fle is opened, and then it is done. Any help in how to implement this would be greatly appreciate.
Thanks,
Troy

Happy to help out! I created an example which is attached to this message. This is what it does:
In SequenceFileLoad, it first checks to see if StationGlobals.TestFacility exists, and if not, it creates that variable.
If the StationGlobal is set to "" (blank string), a prompt is displayed for the user to enter the facility. A post-expression on the Message Popup step sets the StationGlobals.TestFacility variable with this value.
When you execute MainSequence after loading the file, the current TestFacility is displayed.
The code could be simplified a bit if you can guarantee that StationGlobals.TestFacility will always exist as a variable. For example, the #NoValidation tags you see in some of the expressions are there because the StationGlobal may not exist prior to runtime. You could create the station global on your dev machine and deploy StationGlobals.ini to all test machines to ensure all machines have the variable and not need that part of the code, but I prefer the dynamic method because it won't cause an error if the station global is deleted for some reason.
I hope this helps clarify things a bit, and let me know if you have any questions about it!

  • How can I pass a value to the command prompt?

    I was wondering how can I pass a value to the command prompt with Windows and Linux? I'm more interested in Linux's system than Windows though. Is there a way to return info from the command prompt?

    Here is a snippet from http://mindprod.com/jglossexec.html that explains how in detail.
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("myprog.exe") will spawn an external process that runs in parallel with the Java execution. In Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP, you must use an explicit *.exe or *.com extension on the parameter. It is also best to fully qualify those names so that the system executable search path is irrelevant, and so you don't pick up some stray program off the path with the same name.
    To run a *.BAT, *.CMD, *.html *.BTM or URL you must invoke the command processor with these as a parameter. These extensions are not first class executables in Windows. They are input data for the command processor. You must also invoke the command processor when you want to use the < > | piping options, Here's how, presuming you are not interested in looking at the output:
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("command.com /E:1900 /C MyBat.bat" );
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("cmd.exe /E:1900 /C MyCmd.cmd" );
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("C:\\4DOS601\\4DOS.COM /E:1900 /C MyBtm.btm" );
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("D:\\4NT301\\4NT.EXE /E:1900 /C MyBtm.btm" );
    There are also overloaded forms of exec(),
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("command.com /E:1900 /C MyBat.bat", null);
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("command.com /E:1900 /C MyBat.bat", null, "C:\\SomeDirectory");
    The second argument can be a String [], and can be used to set environment variables. In the second case, "C:\\SomeDirectory" specifies a directory for the process to start in. If, for instance, your process saves files to disk, then this form allows you to specify which directory they will be saved in.
    Windows and NT will let you feed a URL string to the command processor and it will find a browser, launch the browser, and render the page, e.g.
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("command.com http://mindprod.com/projects.html" );
    Another lower level approach that does not require extension associations to be quite as well set up is:
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler http://mindprod.com/projects.html" );
    Note that a URL is not the same thing as a file name. You can point your browser at a local file with something like this: file://localhost/E:/mindprod/jgloss.html or file:///E|/mindprod/jgloss.html.
    Composing just the right platform-specific command to launch browser and feed it a URL to display can be frustrating. You can use the BrowserLauncher package to do that for you.
    Note that
    rundll32.exe url.dll,FileProtocolHandler file:///E|/mindprod/jgloss.html
    won't work on the command line because | is reserved as the piping operator, though it will work as an exec parameter passed directly to the rundll32.exe executable.
    With explicit extensions and appropriately set up associations in Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP you can often bypass the command processor and invoke the file directly, even *.bat.
    Similarly, for Unix/Linux you must spawn the program that can process the script, e.g. bash. However, you can run scripts directly with exec if you do two things:
    Start the script with #!bash or whatever the interpreter's name is.
    Mark the script file itself with the executable attribute.
    Alternatively start the script interpreter, e.g.
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec (new String[]{"/bin/sh", "-c", "echo $SHELL"}";

  • How do I display results (anywhere) from the SequenceFileLoad Step?

    I want to be able to display the results from the SequenceFileLoad Sequence after the Sequence has been loaded to a window in a customized version of the CVI Test Executive User Interface. I can't seem to find where this Sequence gets called from in the Process Model (breakpoints are ignored), assuming that is where I want to make my changes.

    There are 3 types of callbacks: Model, Engine and FrontEnd callbacks (see table 1-1 and table 6-4 of the TS 2.0 User Manual).
    What differentiates these types are
    1) Where the callback sequences are located.
    2) What calls the callback.
    The SequenceFileLoad callback is an engine callback. This means that it is called by the TS engine and not your model. You place the callback in the sequence file, for which upon opening, you want the callback to run.
    Since the engine is executing this callback you have no control over parameters that are passed into or out of the sequence. In addition, the file global and local variables of the executed SequenceFileLoad callback are lost when the execution completes.
    You could have the callback write the values of
    Locals.Result to a file or station globals so that the information is available after the execution completes. There are even temporary station globals (see Engine.TemporaryGlobals) that allow you to keep hidden station globals variables that does not get written to the StationGlobals.ini upon shutdown of your station. These hidden variables do not appear in the station global window.
    Attached is a starting point for you. When you open this sequence file the Load callback puts its results into a temporary (hidden) station global. When you run the MainSequence, a subsequence is called that replaces its results with those contained in the temporary station global. This only occurs if the global exists. The subsequence also deletes the temporary global. The results appear as the results of the sequence call step in the MainSequence.
    By the way, you enable tracing into the engine callbacks by checking the station option, "Trace Into Separate Execution Callbacks".

    Hi all
    I'm having the same problem! Im defining a key in "cgicmd.dat" like
    my_key : userid=user/pass@db
    and Im calling the report using a url like
    http://appserver.com/ows-bin/rwcgi60.exe?my_key&report=name.rdf&destype=cache&desformat=pdf&server=Rep60_SERVER
    and what I get? Error: "Oracle Reports Server CGI - Reports Server name is not specified."
    Ive changed my_key to
    my_key : userid=user/pass@db report=name.rdf destype=cache desformat=pdf server=Rep60_SERVER
    and works fine ...
    Problem:
    My problem is that I need to pass more parameters in the url to run the report. Parameters like "p_dept=10"
    http://appserver.com/ows-bin/rwcgi60.exe?my_key&p1=something&p2=whatever
    Report, however isnt receiving the parameter p1 and p2.
    And using the complete url
    http://appserver.com/ows-bin/rwcgi60.exe?userid=user/pass@db&report=name.rdf&destype=cache&desformat=pdf&server=Rep60_SERVER&p1=something&p2=whatever
    works ...
    anyone knows a way to turn this question?
    I only need to get the user/pass@db out from the url ....
    thanks in advance

    Hi Sami
    I guess something wrong in your CGICMD.DAT entry
    Can you cut and paste what exactly you have in that file for the mapkey
    It has to be something like
    mapkey: userid=scott/tiger@db

  • How do i pass parameters from j2me to jsp?plz help

    hi everyone...
    i m doing my final year project
    can anyone plz tell me how to pass parameters like user name,password,etc.. from a j2me midlet to a jsp page running in tomcat server?
    i tried passing parameters in http connection through url as:
    String url="http://localhost:8080/example/test.jsp?name=abc";
    i need this info urgently as i am not able to proceed with my project... plz help
    any suggestions or references would be appreciated...
    thank u...
    regards,

    JHD
    hi.
    you have written in URL i sperfectly right but if this is also not complete one.
    i.e url = "http://localhost:8080/dir/xxx.jsp?userName=jasmit&password=vala"
    now when u establishing connection i.e
    HttpConnection con = (HttpConnection) Connector.open(url,3);
    this will work as an declaration but if u want to send that parameter for that you have to get response from the server and that time only original connection is going to establish i.e
    when u r writting
    int responseCode = con.getResponseCode();
    if(reponseCode == 200)
    then ur parameter were passed to jsp page.
    in jsp page u have to get parameter using request class
    String userName = request.getParameter("userName").toString();
    String password = request.getParameter("password").toString();
    i hope this might solve ur problem.

         if (choice) {

  • How do I pass an event up the component hierarchy?

    I have a child component which has a mouse listener and a parent component with a mouse listener. However the child component consumes all the mouse events so the parent doesn't get them.
    Is there a way for a child component to receive mouse events, then decided to pass them back up the component hierarchy so the parent can still receive them too?
    I've spent the last two hours on Google and can't seem to find anything relevant.
    Cheers, Eric

    Unfortunately, you cannot
    override this method since it ispackage-private.
    That was wrong of mine. Package-private members are
    visible to subclasses too (the package access is a
    complete superset of protected access). So you CAN
    override dispatchEventImpl and do your stuff there.
    When I try that the compiler gives me the following warning
    The method SheetElementPlacementComponent.dispatchEventImpl(AWTEvent) does not override the inherited method from Container since it is private to a different package.
    It lets me define the method, but does not let me override it.
    I just wonder why they made dispatchEvent() final,
    when it just calls dispatchEventImpl(), and it is
    not final...
    Another useful method is Component.enableEvents()
    and disableEvents() (which are both protected). You
    can use them to modify the so called event mask of a
    component, which is used to signify which events a
    Component is interested in. Disabled events (= not
    on the event mask) are not delivered to the
    component and the dispatcher skips it, looking for
    parent components which have enabled the event. For
    example, if you have a JButton in a scroll pane and
    you scroll the mouse wheel on the button, the event
    is dispatched to the scroll pane, even though it
    occurs over the surface of the button. That's
    because a button is not interested in mouse wheel
    events.
    You can use that hack the following way: In the
    mouse listener for your child component, after you
    have done your work, disable mouse events for the
    component and then post the event again (invoke
    dispatchEvent(theEvent)). That way, the event should
    be delivered to the closest parent that is
    interested in mouse events. This is done
    synchronously, so after all listeners for the parent
    components have finished, the dispatchEvent() method
    returns in your listener for the child component.
    Then you re-enable mouse events on the child
    component in order to receive the next mouse event.
    I don't know if this works or if it has any side
    effects, but it's worth a try...I can't call dispatchEvent() because it creates an infinite loop resulting in a stack overflow. It tried calling((JComponent) getParent()).dispatchEvent(e); but this does not help either, the parent never gets the event.
    Hope this helps you more :).
    Greets,
    MikeSorry, I still can't find a way around it other than to redesign my UI.

  • How to hide dynamic parameters values in the URL with Reports 6i

    Hi,
    I want to know a way of hiding the parameters values when asking for a report through the web.
    Now I'm using the Reports 3.0.5.8 with a Cartridge defined in the Oracle Web Application Server 3.0.1.0.1. When you ask for a report with the parameters DESTYPE = cache and DESFORMAT = pdf, it is fully generated and in the Address or Location box of the browser, you can see http://webserver/cache/report.pdf (where cache is the virtual directory defined in the OWAS in which the .pdfs are cached). So, users cant see the Url used to generate the report.
    Im trying to upgrade this configuration to Reports 6i with Cgi in a web server. I generate reports with no problems. The problem I have is I cant find how to hide the parameters values as before. I mean, when I ask for a report, once its generated I can see http://webserver/cgi-bin/rwcgi60.exe?server=ServerName&report=report.rdf&userid=user/pass@connection&destype=cache&desformat=pdf&P1=value1&P2=value2 in the Location box. It allows user to ask for another report changing the values of the parameters. I use these parameters to execute some query written in the Data Model. For example, imagine that the P1 represents the company id, the user (that is supposed to see only data of its company) can change this id, ask for a new report and see data of another company.
    Ive already tried to use the key mapping option, but its not useful to me because the parameters values are dynamic and its impossible to define different entries in the cgicmd.dat for each possible value. The option of loading the parameter form before running a report is not useful to me either, because there exists specific screens for this purpose.
    Is there any solution?
    Thank you.
    Marma Bonfiglio.

    Hi Rakesh,
      I am using BI  7.0
    The last option I have is 'Hide' for 'Calculate single values as' .
    I have the below options  for 'Calculate single values as'
    1. Normalise  according to Next group  level  Resul.
    2. Normalize according to  Overall Result
    3. Rank number
    4.Olympic Rank Number
    5.Maximum
    6. Minimum
    7.Counter for all detailed values
    8.Counter for all detailed values that are non zero
    9.Moving average
    10.Moving average  That is  Not zero ,null or Error
    11. Hide.
    So could you please tell me where i can find 'suppress result' option for the keyfigure .
    Many thanks
