How do i populate one field based upon a drop down select from another field?

Here is what I am trying to do:
Field 1 is a drop down selection list that requires a user to make a mandatory selection which in this case is a list of apartment complexes. What I am trying to accomplish is once that user makes a selection from the drop down list (Field1) that it will populate Field 2 (standard txt) with the corresponding apartment complexes address.
So I pick Talan Apartments from field 1, it would populate field 2 with Talan Apartments address. I tried messing around with calculation scripts but I'm fighting a loosing battle here. Some help would be greatly appreciated!

2. Office info
The second tab contains all the information regarding Office and Personal Information. But I need to selectively disable certain fields based on the drop down in first tab.
For example,
The second tab consissts of all fields like
Name,

Job title,
Office Location, etc.
And i dont want office related details to be displayed if I am selecting personal info in the first tab.

Can you check the List component in foundation/components ? I think "Build list using" works he same as your requirement. Check the listener they have used in dialog/items/list/items/ listFrom/listeners

Disable values means you have to remove it from your CRX?
"values should become mandatory". for tab2? or tab3? - if tab2 and if it is a customized widget then u have to write it in your js only i think.

How do I launch a URL based on a drop down selection?

I would like to launch a webpage based on an item selection from the user. Scenario: User selects a brand of shoes from a dropdown menu. A webpage is opened for that brand of shoes. I will have the dropdown list link
to a table containing shoe brands and urls. I haven't found a way to script the launching of the url based on the user's selection. Thank you for your help.

Based on a dropdown, it filters a gallery with a "go there" button. That should allow you to get some small description, image or data before leaving your app for the site.

You don't have to create a PDF, but it would be helpful to know what, exactly, you want to do with the ppt.
You can export as a PDF which will keep vectors and text as PostScript (crisp) elements.
You can also Save As from ppt in a variety of formats such as PNG or TIFF.
These rasterize all the vectors and text, but are very useful if you're laying out a miniature gallery of the powerpoint presentation.
However, if you want to make the InDesign file a replica of the ppt slides for print, PDF is probably the best way to go.

Populate field based on selection from another field?

I'm using a Data Connection with a SQL query that returns two fields (StNameFull and ADDRKEY). I have a drop-down list called "Address" with the list items dynamically bound to StNameFull, so the user can select the address.
What I'm trying to do is populate the second field "Key" with the corresponding record, based on the selection made from the drop-down list.
Is it possible to script this so that when the Address is selected the Key will automatically fill in with the key that matches the address selcted?
I currently have "Key" as a text field bound to ADDRKEY, but not sure how to have it check what was selected in "Address"

Yes it is possible but you will have to write some script to do it. You wil also have to ge the DataConenction to execute a SQL statement. There is a good blog on this topic at this location:

Populate a field based on a drop down or multiple choice

Would it be possible to add a feature that allows users to populate a field based on the value of another field?
I'm trying to setup a form where a technician selects their name from a drop down list, and then have the form populate their e-mail address based on their name. I would prefer to avoid forcing them to type in their e-mail address every single time so that they can get a copy of their form responses when they submit a form.

Can I populate an email address by a drop-down selection?

Hi,
I have created a form that should be submitted by email to one of five people. The recipient is dependent on the type of request being generated.
So... can I have my Email Submit Button populate with the appropriate email address based on the selection of the type of request? Example: Type of request selected from drop-down is "new contract" therefore email address populates with [email protected]
I am a newbie, but can generally muddle through modifications if given the script. Thanks!

Both are set out the same way. There are three options from the standard email submit to a regular button with a custom script. If you have a look at the third option and the script in the click event of the email button, you will see that it takes the rawValue of the 'email address' textfield and uses this in building a custom email script.

How do I configure a dynamic table with Data-Drop Down selections to store separate values?

I am attempting to use LiveCycle to create an Order Form that uses an ODBC to a SQL database. When a user makes a selection, a separate column in the table references the "Item #" associated in the SQL table, and generates a corresponding barcode.
My problem is that when I select an Item from the drop down list, all the items in the table change. What am I missing here to separate the rows as different line items? I tried adding a [*] to the end of the connection string, and that allows me to select different options but does not generate the "Item #" or "Barcode" field.
The screenshot below shows the basic form. When I select any of the data drop downs, all of the Items change.
I used the auto generated script for the "Add Row +" button shown below. Is this my issue? Or do I need to alter the way I'm setting up the Data Binding in for my Data Drop Down?

Different actions based on different drop down selection

I am new to WebDynpro so still getting to used to the differences with what I am used to. My question is this:
Is it possible to create a drop down list (by key) in a top view that allows the user to display one of three views in the bottom view? I know it is possible if I add a button, but I want it to look like one form so that the user is unaware of the difference. The "logical" way to me would be to have an action created for each option in the drop down list, but this does not seem possible. Any suggestions on how I could do this?

As already explained by other posters, this is possible:
Define an action with a parameter "selectedKey" of type string.
Bind the DropDownByKey.onSelect event to this action.
Map the event parameter "key" to the action parameter "selectedKey" by writing this line of code inside method wdDoModifyView():

The effect of this mapping is that at runtime, the action handler parameter "selectedKey" contains the key that has been selected from the drop-down list.
In the action handler, you can navigate to the view that corresponds to the selected key by calling the outbound-plug to this view. These firePlug* methods will be generated by the framework, if you have defined the corresponding navigation links in the view modeller.
But: I would not use at all a drop-down list to switch views because this will not match most user's expectation. Links are more appropriate to indicate navigation to other views.

BUG: Sorting drop-down lists from the field tab when using "specify item values"

Hi all,
I've finished creating my form now, but I came across this whilst writing up my documentation for maintenance tasks.
This occurs when adding new values to a drop-down list that has the "Specify item values" checkbox in the binding tab checked.
When I then try to sort my list using the built in sort buttons, it will sort the items, but the list of specified values in the binding tab does not sort reorder to stay with the original items in the list. This is hapenning when I sort from the Object > Field tab. If I sort in the Object > Binding tab then the sort will include the specified values.
For example:
A    5
C    2
D    9
Add a new value to get:
A    5
C    2
D    9
B    10
Sort the list using the button:
A    5
B    2
C    9
D    10
But it should be:
A     5
B     10
C     2
D     9

I was able to duplicate this problem and it looks like a possible bug. I've submitted it to support.

Field Populates based on Selection in Another Field

Hi everyone,
I have created a new position description template using a pdf form. In this form I have various fields. I would like to populate one field based on what I have selected in another field. For example, I have a field called competency. In this field I can select and choose a competency. If I select "Accountability" I would like the description field to say " Accepts personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work. Can be relied upon to achieve results with little need for supervision. " alternatively if I select "Compliance" I would like the description field to say "Complies with policies, procedures, workflows and instructions." Can anyone assist me with script or is there another way of making this happen.

I am writing coldfusion code to flatten, populate the form into a PDF form. The end result is the PDF generation with all the data in it.
The data comes from the database, where I set variable values if any is selected or not.

By using a search component , a table is being displayed as a search result. If i select any row in the resulted table , i need to populate an another table at the bottom of the same page from another view. These two tables are related by primary key . I understand your requirement and the tutorial doesn't talk about Association between the views so that you can create a Master-Detail or in DB parlance, a Parent-Child relationship.
I will assume that we are dealing with two entities here: Department and Employees where a particular Department has many Employees and hence a Parent-Child relationship.
Firstly, you need to create an Association between the two Entities - Department and Employees. You can do that by right clicking on the model's entity and then associating the two entities with the appropriate key say, DepartmentId.
Once you have done that, you need to link the two entities in the View section with this Association that you created. Then go to AppModule and make sure that in the Available View Objects: 'EmployeesView' appears under 'DepartmentView' as "EmployeesView via <link you created>". Shuttle the 'DepartmentView' to the right, Data Model and then shuttle
"EmployeesView via <link you created>" to the right, Data Model under 'DepartmentView'.
This will then be reflected in your Data Controls. After that, you simply would have to drag this View into your page as a Master-Detail form...and then when you run this page, any row selected in the Master table, would display the data in the Detail table.

How to not display certain items based upon certain criteria (Edit Form)

I have a Edit form which was created from an interactive report I generated.
There are 10 item fields which are listed which can be changed.
Sometimes I want to see just 9 of the fields on the form based on what the value is of another field in the record.
When I display the fields on the Interactive report I can filter this out by using a case statement, but how
do I do this with the edit form as the query is not there.

Use Conditions to control whether the item appears or not.

Hoping someone can help me with something I am working on. i am fairly new to creating forms in acrobat (know how to us the full range of very basic features) but I have now found myself needing some help.
i am producing an order form, and I need to create a filtered dropdown list based on the value selected in another field.
basically, when a user select the company chooses their Business Name from a dropdown list, I would like their deliver address to self populate. In some cases there may be a few options for the company delivery address so in these cases the second option would be a dropdown list of the options available for that company.
i have attached a screenshot, it is the Fields "Business Name" and "delivery Address/Delivery Postcode" that i would like to be linked so that the option in Business Name filtered the options in delivery Address
Hope someone out there has the time to help me with this, i am using Acrobat Pro DC

This will require a complex, custom-made script. The basic functionality of populating another field based on a selection in a drop-down is not that complicated, but if you want it to also populate other drop-downs (and then presumably use them to populate other fields), it will require a more complex solutions.
