Problem with viewing recieved video messages!

I'm running Skype 6.11 on Win XP Service Pack 3!
I recieved a video message yesterday that I wasn't able to watch!
First the window went black with a little misplaced box in the top left corner that said something about "Recent" & "Flash plugin"! So clicked the link, downloaded the latest Flash version, (which I already had on my computer) re-booted it and tried watching the video message again!
The only difference this time was that dialouge box was centered this time on the screen and it said:
You need an update!
To play the message you will need top either update your browser to a recent version or update your Flash plugin.
I started searching the Skype-forum for possible solutions and found out that Skype requires the latest version of Internet Explorer to run properly! (I'm a Firefox-guy!)
So I downloaded Internet Explorer 8 (Since IE9 can't be installed on Win XP) and tried updating my Flash player again (Just for the sake of it) and re-booted my computer after!
I still get the same dialogue box with the same text in it, I've tried googling this all morning without any success! If anyone have a solution to this problem, I would be grateful!

Me too I am using Windows 8.1 and I have never been able to open a voice message I received. I have found Skype to be very difficult to use since I started using Win 8. It has no great help menus or setting instructions. I can still use it to call my contacts and see and here them just never get to open voice messages. Can't find any usefull info on any forums. Search for voice message never seems to find anything. I can't believe I am the only one who finds this featurte hard to use.

I do not want people to be able to send me video messages. They serve me no purpose and waste space on my hard drive as I cannot find a way to delete them. So is there any way to disable video messages being sent to me? Also, is there any way to delete the ones that have already been sent?

I stand corrected. That's good to know. Thanks. I also found an option to prevent them from being embedded into the chat which is nice. I still would like to disable them, but given this new information, the issue is far less important.

How to Record a video message (iChat) in messages?

I use to record iChat's with my grand children, but after upgrading to Mavericks, and their move to MESSAGES...
The option to Record Video Chat does not seem to be available, Is this true? and if so...
1) is there a work around?
2) or another piece of software that allows recording of a video chat?
OR
if it is still available, how do I get the option to show up on my menu?

I got Screeny in Mountain Lion and it works in Mavericks.
I see Joe M has put up the Feedback link which is advisable.
(you have to add your specs to the free text area as the drop downs for the version have never bben up to date or even in sync with the OS drop down).
As to why Apple changed this ?
Unclear. The boards specifically say speculation is not allowed.
However.
1) the app initially did not request that the Viewee agreed
2) there have been many instances including schools on pupils who have school devices being "spied" on.
3) internet related privacy is tending to be increased.

Video message loading forever

Problem is simple. I recieved video message and i cant see it. It`s just loading forever. Tried on PC, Android, second PC... Nothing. Tried everything that i found here, nothing. Even installed DB browser to save video but it doesn`t have link. I work on Win7 with latest updates for Skype, IE and AdobeFlash. Sype version is 7.6.85.103.

MMS is a carrier feature. Contact the carrier to ensure you account is provisioned correctly.

If you are on O2, you need MMS set up on the O2 end. Text "MMS" to 1010 for free and they will set it up.

Privacy is an Option in the Settings App, its not in Safari as that applies only to Safaris browsing. Its called Privacy in IOS 6 In previous versions the same thing can be found under Location Services.

Claire, I use a Mac w/ the latest copy of Skype and it IS possible to first play the file and then download it. Steps are available for it but it involves some technical wizardry that can be above some muggles. Then I found a post where some some VERY bright person made a small downloaded program for the Mac which once the video message has been played recently, you can run this program and download the file for safe keeping ( ALWAYS BACKUP or store it in the cloud for safety ) Kudos are deserved to user alvarop for this! http://community.skype.com/t5/Mac/Video-Message-Exporter-App/m-p/2351609 It worked for me to download a video message that I recently played back. How do I delete a sent video message?

Basically, I did something stupid. I do singing and I didn't have enough data on my iPod to record my voice and play it back so I used a video message and planned NOT to send it. It pointed at my face and I sang a song. I accidentally pressed send and HOPEFULLY the person hasn't seen it. I need to delete it because the person I sent it to is a good friend but I am so scared!
