How do i restore Thinkpad to an earlier date

I need to restore a Thinkpad (type-2378) T41, to an earlier date or factory setting
How do i do it?

Press F8 while booting to enter Safe mode, then proceed to "restore to an earlier date" when given that choice.
If your recovery partition is still intact, you can press F11 on the boot to restore the system to factory settings.
Good luck.
Cheers,
George

    Hi Ronda,
If you don't have a backup, you can't really, about the only  other way is a relatively painless Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space and no Disk corruption, and is relatively quick & painless...

  • How can I restore all of my synced data from Firefox 4 (Win) to Firefox 5 (Mac)

Because of a computer problem, I can no longer access the data on my previous installation of Firefox 4 on a windows computer. I've recently started using a new mac computer, and I can't seem to restore the data using Firefox sync. I'm certain that sync was enabled on the previous installation as I've had it syncing with my mobile phone. How can I fix this issue?

  • How can I restore an app and its data from an old ipad to a new ipad without restoring from backup?

When I purachsed and iPad 2 to replace my old iPad I did not want to restore it from backup for obvious reasons.  However, there are apps that have data stored in them that I have lost the data for, what can I do to get the app and data back on the new iPad without losing the data that was already in the app?

The reasons may be obvious to you, but it makes no sense to me. I would think that you would want all of the content that you had transfered onto your new iPad.
However, there are apps that have data stored in them that I have lost the data for, what can I do to get the app and data back on the new iPad without losing the data that was already in the app?
If you lost the data in the apps, you can't get it back unless you restore from a backup - assuming that the backup DID have that data in the apps..
The only way that you can get the apps PLUS the app data onto the new iPad is to restore the new iPad from a backup of the original iPad and sync the apps back onto the new iPad if necessary.

  • How do I restore my Ipad without losing data?

I'm trying to follow the instructions here but Itunes won't give me the option to set up as new Ipad it just says Restore and Update or Update
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.

That's difficult to answer because I don't see anything you're doing right...
What is it, exactly, you're attempting to do?
What state is the device in now? Is it in recovery move? Is it Disabled? Is it working with all your data currently intact? Why do you feel the need to restore it?

  • How do I restore Itunes to a past date?

Is it possible to, like, reset itunes to a past date? you know how you can reset your computer, is it possible for itunes?
I deleted songs, and now I messed up my whole itunes. I'm desperate for help. Please someone help me!
      Windows XP

    No, it is not possible.
Your songs are stored on your hard drive, iTunes is just a way to organize all of it.
If the songs are still on your computer you can to go File>Add Folder/File (depending what you want to do) to Library>then find the music folder/file.
    I hope this helps!

  • How do I restore old emails from recovered data after hard drive crash?

Hi all - I used data rescue II to recover data from a crashed hard drive - seems to have worked pretty well, as the file structure seems to be mostly intact - now I'm trying to find the old emails and get them back in my inbox/sent mailboxes where they belong - any help is surely appreciated - thanks

    Hi Tommybanjo.
Mail stores the messages in .emlx files, but you cannot import individual messages directly, only entire mailboxes. In order to import the recovered .emlx files back into Mail, they must be organized as if they were in an .mbox mailbox, i.e. they must be in a Messages folder within an .mbox folder. You may create a folder called Recovered.mbox, then a Messages folder within this folder, then put the .emlx files within the Messages folder, then import that.
In Mail, do File > Import Mailboxes, choose Mail for Mac OS X as the data format, and follow the instructions. Note that Mail wants you to select the folder that contains the mailboxes to be imported (i.e. the folder where the .mbox folders to be imported reside), not the .mbox folders themselves nor the Messages folders within them.
Given the circumstances, however, there could be something wrong with one or more of the recovered messages and that might cause the import to fail. If that’s the case, you may try organizing the recovered messages in several smaller mailboxes and try to identify the messages that Mail has trouble with. Alternatively, you may try using emlx to mbox Converter or Emailchemy to convert the .emlx files to standard mbox format, then import that in Mail as Other.

  • Icloud help with restoring to an earlier date

I plugged my Iphone 4S into my computer and it said i could update to the new IOS 7 so i did.
When i completed the download my phone had completely lost all pictures, videos ect along with all text message history and so on.
All i had was my contacts.
I therefore tried to restore back to an earlier date but that didnt seem to work.
So i decided to restore my phone as i read that may work, then once done that sign into icloud and get it back that way.
Well once i restored my phone all my itunes was wiped and it now says i have 12.8gb of space when before (when all my stuff was there) i only had 7 or 8.
Therefore i am worried now that EVERYTHING has been truly deleted, even from my itunes and icloud.
Is there any way i can get this back?
I am willing to hear any help possible. Thanks

It sounds as if you either didn't backup to iTunes before updating, or you clicked "Restore iPhone" instead of Update.  Either way, you can try to restore again from iCloud (https://support.apple.com/kb/ph12521), and if nessecary choose to Show the older backups available from iCloud.  Or learn more about how to keep a backup of your device so this doesn't happen again.

  • Would like to Restore Stystem to an Earlier Point in Time

My computer stopped booting up a few days ago and I attempted to Restore the system to an earlier point by pressing F11 and then choosing Restore System to an earlier date.  However, the system indicates the following:  "NO RESTORE POINTS have been created on your computer's system drive.  To create a restore point open System Protection".
How can open System Protection?  I have files on this computer that I do not want to lose so I am not sure if Restoring to the systems original state is a good choice.  Please help.

    Hi,
I don't think there's any point in trying to open System Protection - when you create a restore point it's 'snapshots' of the current state of the system, they cannot be created 'in the past'.
One possible way to try and retrieve your files from a non-booting drive is to follow the process detailed in the link below.  The Ubuntu operating system CD you create can run from the CD alone ( ie it doesn't have to install on the Hard Drive ).  When you've created the CD, follow the instructions and see if you can back up your existing files.
    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/use-ubuntu-live-cd-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-windo...
If you are successful in backing up your files using this method, I would suggest running some diagnostics as detailed below.
Shut down the notebook.  Tap away at f10 as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu.  Under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run tests on both the Hard Drive and Memory.  Post back with the details of any error messages.

  • How do I restore apps to multiple devices?

I will be giving iPads to my children for Christmas. How do I restore the saved data for each game/app to a specific device?
Here's my scenario. My wife and I each have an iPad on the same iTunes account. My children play the same game, but to preserve each other's progression, my son plays this game only on one iPad while my daughter plays it on the other.
When I setup the new iPads, how do I restore my son's saved data to his iPad and my daughter's data to hers?
Both children use each iPad so a full restore doesn't help.
Can I pick-and-choose what saved data from what app goes to which new iPad?

    JimHdk wrote:
Thanks for clarifying that the situation is more complex than described in your original post.
No, you cannot pick and choose with standard restore procedures.
There are some PC/Mac programs that allow recovering certain things from backup files. Whether these can restore arbitrary app data I do not know. I suspect not but you can investigate further.
    For example:
    http://www.iphone-ipad-recovery.com/recover-data-from-dead-broken-ipad.html
    http://www.iphone-data-recovery.com/restore-ipad-from-backup.html
Hello, I can't scan out my lost data from iPad directly, doesn't it means that I only can recover my lost data from backup?
