How do I set a new tab page to be the same as my homepage?

Whenever I open a new tab in the one window the home page for that tab is dito my Firefox homepage. How do I set the new tab to be the same page as my home page?I've been through all the FAQ's on tabs and homepage but nothing shows me how to do this.
Cheers,
Matt

• How to disable history from new tab page without disabling the new tab page entirely?

As the title states. I have read countless questions on this and none ever give a working answer. So I will try again. I think it is absolutely ridiculous that even though I delete my browsing history after every time, my browsing history still shows up on the new tab page. Which proves that Firefox is actually NOT deleting my browsing history like it says. So how do I STOP that from happening? I don't want my browsing history to show up anywhere. At all. Ever. For any reason. Is that impossible with Firefox? That would put it in first place for world's worst browser if your browsing history is permanent like mine is right now. Huge security hole much?? So how do I make it stop once and for all. But I still want the new tab page there, but ONLY with the sites I have pinned to it. Nothing else. EVER.

First off, let's start by updating you to the latest Firefox, 32.0.3. ([[Update Firefox to the latest version]]). Firefox 20, which you are running, is suspect to MANY security issues (including one fixed just yesterday that affects the entire internet and allows websites to pretend to be any website they want to be), plus it has it's own bugs and issues in Firefox itself.
After you've updated, let's see if we can't get this sorted out. Are you saying that when you clear your history the new tab page doesn't clear? Are you using the default new tab page or do you have any new tab page add-ons installed?

• When am opening new tab, iam getting some website instead of my home page ,how can I set my new tab page?

Iwant to configure my new tab with google which is my home page, how can I do that, can any one give suggestion to me please?

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.
You can middle-click or hold down Ctrl and left-click the Home button on the Navigation toolbar to open the Home page in a new tab.
You can use an extension to set which page to open in a new tab:
*NewTabURL : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl/
*My Homepage: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/my-homepage/

• How do I set a new tab page so it isn't the ask home page but a blank page?

I can't find a way to get the home page back to normal.

Can't you change the home page setting permanently?
You can open the about:config page via the location bar and search for prefs that refer to ask.com and reset related user set (bold) prefs via the right-click context menu to the default value.
If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:

i have tried for new tab page, also done the process from about:config n all, i successfully got the newtab but once i restart firefox i get blank newtab not the most visited sites type new tab... plz help

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":
*do not clear the Cache because Firefox will disable the disk cache in such a case
*do not clear the Browsing History
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Clear+Recent+History
See also:
The thumbnails on the about:newtab page are generated from the cache, so if the page is not in the cache or otherwise can't or won't (secure pages) be rendered as a PNG image then you will get an empty box.
*Do not use Clear Recent History to clear data like the cache and the history when you close Firefox
If there is no history then you get an about:newtab page with empty boxes (no URLs).

- Disable autosyncing: go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says "Prevent iPods ...syncing">
- Connect the iPod and go to the music, apps and other panes for the iPod and check the boxes that say only sync the checked items.

M Parker,
Yes, since you are trying to keep things separate, that is exactly what you would do.

• Is it possible when opening a new tab to automatically open the same as default home page ie Google?

I would like to set all new tabs to open to Google home page, is this possible?

If Google is already set as your only home page, you can try middle-click or CTRL+left-click the '''Home icon''' to open that home page in a new tab.
Or, you can install this Add-on to open the page you choose when clicking the New Tab icon or clicking Firefox button > New Tab > New Tab: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/newtaburl/
*After install and restarting Firefox, set the options for that Add-on: Add-ons > Extensions, click Options next to that Add-on

• How do I open a new tab? None of the options work for me.

I've tried:
1. Clicking the "+" icon next to my current tab
2. Going to "File -> New Tab"
3. Using the "Ctrl - T" keyboard shortcut
4. Restarting Firefox
5. Restarting my computer (Windows 7 laptop)
6. Downloading all possible updates -> Restarting my computer
... Opening a link on the current web page DOES work...

The Ask Toolbar has been causing that in the Firefox 3.6.13+ versions. Uninstall that extension.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
* Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
* Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons

• How do I get new pages in new tabs to automatically go the same setting as my home page? Google is my home page, and I want the opening in new tabs to default to Google also.

Whenever I open a new tab, I want the new page to open to the same setting as my Home Page (in my case, Google). Instead it takes me to Bing. Even my Home Page reverts to Bing after I've set it to Google.

The default New Tab in Firefox is a blank page and there is no built-in option to change that.
*CTRL+left-click the Home icon will open a new tab to your set home page.
**See --> http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page
*This Add-on will open a new tab when clicking the new tab "+" icon (or when clicking New Tab from the menu) to whatever page you set in the options for the add-on:
**'''''New TabURL''''': https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/newtaburl/

• How do i restore my new tab page?

When I open a new tab, a web page in unknown language opens. I've tried changing the settings in about:config page, but when I restart my PC the problem persists. I've also tried installing the search reset addon, it solved my problem for an instant but again, when i restarted my PC, the problem is still there.

here is how you restore or change your new tab. Thanks to jscher2000 in another post.
Quoting
"Here is how you can reset what the tab does. If this setting does not stick, one of your add-ons might be overriding it.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the filter box, type or paste newtab and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the browser.newtab.url preference and enter the desired value:
(i) Page thumbnails (default)
about:newtab
(ii) Blank tab
about:blank
(iii) Built-in Firefox home page
about:home
(iv) Any other page
full URL to the page
Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked."
I hope this helped you it sure helped me and Thanks jscher2000, you saved me from pulling my hair out.

• How do I set my new tabs back to "untitled" rather than load Yahoo! search?

I accidentally installed the Yahoo! search bar along with a DJ program. I was able to uninstall the search bar but a problem persists. Before having the Yahoo! search bar on my Firefox I was able to open a new tab and it was simply blank and labelled "Untitled. It required zero load time.
Now even after uninstalling the Yahoo! search bar, when a new tab is opened it goes straight to a Yahoo! search website. This is incredibly annoying and can often take more time to load than opening an entirely new window for Firefox. How do I get back to "Untitled" blank tabs?

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.
