How do I set the Launch window size (from launch from an LMS) in Captivate 5.5?

When my project launches from the LMS, the lauch window is smaller that the actual project size and requires the user to resize the window to see the whole project. My LMS administrator tells me that the launch window size is not controlled by the LMS so I am trying to figure out how I can set this to match the project dimensions.

The size of the browser window CAN be controlled by the LMS, but some LMSs are hopeless in this area and don't provide the settings to do so.
Moodle for example allows you to specify that the course content will open in a new window each time an item in the LMS TOC is clicked and what the height and width of that window will be. However, all versions of SumTotal before the latest one did not give you this option (and that despite the exhorbitant price difference between these two products.)
So your LMS admin might be correct in that HIS particular LMS cannot control the size of the launch window, but that's not because no LMS can do this.

  • How can I change the default window size of a new message permanently?

The mail window opens up very small and every time I must increase the size manually. I want to be able to set it so it opens larger or at least opens to the saem size as a previous mail window, which is what Mail used to do.
Also, can anyone tell me how to stop that new mail window from opening on the bottom left of my screen? I need to move it in orde to increase the window size. So, 2 default actions that are a psin to constantly deal with.

  • How can I set the finder window to open the same way every time?

Everytime I open Finder it goes back to it's default view which is just too small, but I want to set the finder columns and window so that they open the same exact way every single time. I'm tired of resizing everything.
Currently I have to resize every window and column everytime and I think my work is much slower then when I was on Windows because of it.
Is there a setting, script, file, patch, anything, is there absolutely anything I can do to actually control the Finder views and make them adjust to MY criteria and stay that way...

That is a big negative. That does absolutely nothing other then close my window, next time the finder window is opened then the column widths are small again.
In Windows Explorer all your windows are customizable, how do I do this with Finder?

  • How can I close the Appearance window? screen? from System Preferences?

I am still trying to get used to my new Intel IMac and was exploring. After I looked at Universal Access, two things happened:1) the menu bar at the top and the display got large and I can't seem to return them to the original setting and 2) the Appearance window now won't go away--it allows me only to minimize it and it seems to be preventing me from accessing System Preferences. I have been working on this all morning and I'm stuck. Please can anyone help?

A foolish question on my part, perhaps, but have you tried restarting the computer?

If you want to stick with adjusting the scale you can do this two ways. Edit the value graph or edit the speed graph.
The problem is that a camera move, a zoom or a dolly in, is not linear and scale is. This means the graphs are not a good representation of what you'll see visually. This makes them hard to use. At a constant rate for scale the appearance is that the increase in size slows down to closer you get to the final value. In other words, as you scale an object up at a constant rate, the visual appearance is a gradual slowing.
A speed graph edited to look like this gives the appearance of a constant rate scale of the layer when you expect an acceleration at the end. There's just not enough granularity in the graph editor or enough control to predictably achieve the results you want.
You'll have better luck editing the value graph to look something like this:
While this looks extreme, you will get closer to achieving the results you want using the value graph. Once again, the amount of control and the resolution of the graph combined with the visual tomfoolery that scaling an object brings with it makes this a difficult way to achieve predictable results.
You select the graph you'll edit by clicking on the second icon from the left.
As I said before, you'll have much better luck getting the look you want if you make the layer 3D and move a camera toward it.

  • How can I set the default window location in calendar to my second monitor?

After installing Mavericks, Calendar always opens its windowed centered in my main monitor.  I move it to where I want it (upper left, second monitor) but when I quit the program, the location reverts to the original location.  Is there a .plist I need to edit?
    -Jeff

The "quit calendar" fix does not endure after the next logout or restart.
In System Preferences, in the Mission Control Pane, unchecking "Displays have separate spaces" causes the windowing behavior to revert to pre-Mavericks behavior.  Applications open in the previously used window.  Applications with windows on multiple monitors re-open with correctly located windows.  However, all the behavior reverts, so you can't run multiple full screen applications on different monitors, nor is there a tool bar at the top of secondary monitors.

Every time I open a document, adobe looks for files in skydrive.  To get to my files, I have to back up a level, change to the c: drive, go to users, and then pick the folder my files are in.  Does anyone know where I can find and change the defalt file location.

Thank you for your reply Rob. That is a pity because I have loaded some 500 eBooks and each Cover page appears in the Navigation sidebar with real Pictures and Videos interspersed seemingly randomly. I have also tried to move my stuff into separate folders called Pictures and Videos. Wheareas the Pictures moved successfully, the Videos didn't show in the Videos Folder. I think this is a bug.

  • How do I set the window size of a course in SumTotal (LMS)

I recently created an AICC course using Captivate 5.5 for a client using SumTotal as their LMS. When the client loads the course, the course launchs in a window that is smaller than the course itself; the user then has to adjust the window size to view the entire course. I have read on various posts that this cannot be controlled by myself through the .htm file settings, and that this has to be set within the LMS.
So my question is: Where and how does the client set the course window size within SumTotal? Does anyone know?!
    thanks

No, edit the html files that come with Captivate. Either hand edit the
html file that is produced every time you publish, or locate the files
in the Captivate 5 directory and customise them to suite your needs.

  • How do I set the default size of a new folder?

I have finder sized the way I want for existing folders and if I do Finder > New Finder Window. These preferrences, however, do not seem to apply to new folders. Everytime I create a new folder on my desktop, and open that folder for the first time, the window size is really small and the sidebar is narrow. This is incredibally annoying. How do I set the default size for all new folders? Is there a plist file I can edit to fix this? Or an AppleScript I can run automatically in the background that fixes this? I am running Mavericks 10.9.1.

If you use the Finder's New Finder Window command (command N) to create a new window, resize it, place it where you want, and set it for icon view or however you want it. Then close it. Closing it is what sets these as the default. That should become the default for every new Finder window you create using the new window command. But if you have lots of windows open at once and then close them, the last window you close will set a new default.
There are lots of utilities that control Windows - their size and placement. I use one called Moom but there are many more.
