How do I suppress the "Outdated Java Runtime Environment" message?

Hi,
Does anyone know how I can suppress this "Outdated Java Runtime Environment" message?
I'm currently running 1.4.2.12 alongside the latest version of 1.6.x
Each time I start an applet coded to run with 1.4.2.12 a security warning appears titled "Outdated Java Runtime Environment" saying that:
"A Java applet in this webpage requires the Java Runtime Envronment (JRE 1.4.2 to run. You have JRE 1.4.2 installed, but not the latest release. Using an old release may present security risks. Do you want to run the applet anyway?"
YES / NO
I don't want to upgrade to 1.4.2.19 and this problem will occur again is 1.4.2.20 arrvies...
So how can I suppress this warning message?
I can't see anything in the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Update\Policy that can be turned off.
I've tried the obvious:
EnableAutoUpdateCheck = 0
EnaleJavaUpdate = 0
Update schedule = 0
In fact, everything under "Policy" has been set to "0"
Any ideas? Is there an unknown registry switch or something that can be added to the startup script that turns off this version/security check?
Any advice would be useful.

While looking for something else, I accidentally found the following message:
[t-5253971]
The 3rd post in that thread (i.e. the 2nd reply) claims to have an answer. I haven't tried it (though if you do try it I would be interested to know if it works).

  • How to Force Internet Explorer specific Java Runtime Environment?

    Problem: UConn uses a tool called Blackboard. Blackboard requires Version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_07-b03)
    but I develop so NETBeans IDE needs/wants JDK6 ( likes JDK 6 Update 16 )
    Tried managing add-ons in IE, Tried Firefox too.
    What I want is to have IE forced to the JDK5 runtime and let my other applications (NetBeans, Oracle, OracleSQLDeveloper, Firefox and MYSQL use the JDK6). I know NEtBeans will allow to specify which JDK but it seems that IE still sees both and screws up.
    Things I tried but didnt work: managing add-ons and I saw items like this Force Internet Explorer to use a specific Java Runtime Environment install?
    from: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/71254/force-internet-explorer-to-use-a-specific-java-runtime-environment-install
    First, disable the currently installed version of Java. To do this, go to Control Panel > Java > Advanced > Default Java for Browsers and uncheck Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    Next, enable the version of Java you want to use instead. To do this, go to (for example) C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_15\bin (where jre1.5.0_15 is the version of Java you want to use), and run javacpl.exe. Go to Advanced > Default Java for Browsers and check Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    To get your old version of Java back you need to reverse these steps.
    Note that in older versions of Java, Default Java for Browsers is called <APPLET> Tag Support (but the effect is the same).
    The good thing about this method is that it doesn't affect other browsers, and doesn't affect the default system JRE.
    Any ideas?

    Simple then - bad idea.
    If your minimal target is 1.5 then you develop in 1.5. If you insist on using 1.6 for functional reasons then you will need to maintain two development environments on your box 1.5 and 1.6. You explicitly build support for 1.6 and detection for that into the code and test it using 1.6. And test using 1.5 as well.
    Note you must test both 1.5 and 1.6. Full functional tests.
    Obviously limiting yourself to 1.5 would require less effort (cost.)

  • How do I get rid of java runtime environment?

    I have tried downloading it and following the instructions and I can't seem to figure it out. I have the 10.10 OS X Yosemite software.
    It says I need to install java runtime environment to view this web content. I have tried this already.

    Most likely, you have either the Facebook video calling plugin or the "NexDef" plugin for watching baseball streams. Both depend on the Java runtime distributed by Apple. If you no longer need the plugin, remove it. Otherwise, install Java.

  • How to remove "outdate java runtime environment" warning

    I am using an application that requires an outdated JRE 1.5.0_11, since the new 1.5.0_12 is presenting problems. 1.6.0_2 is not working either.
    But since 1.5.0_12 is around I am getting plugin warning popups telling me to install the latest 1.5.0 update (12 or 13). Strangely most of my colleagues do not get this popup...
    The application also requires me to work with IE. I am using IE 7. I get the feeling that the IE Sun add in (svv.dll) is responsible for this warning, but where does it get its information?? And how can I get rid of the warning popup??
    Unfortunately the application requires the add in and popup's not being blocked.
    Thnks, Carel

    The application developers have determined the root cause. It seems that together with 1.6.2 functionality has been introduced that checks the latest version of your JRE. A bit unexpected it doesn't only check your 1.6 JRE, but also your 1.5 JRE. So if you have 1.6.2 or higher running together with 1.5.12 or lower on the same system, you will be getting this "nice" prompt. Only solution is to remove 1.6 or stick with 1.6.1 (probably generating the same prompt).

    when i start up the eclipse, it comes out the problem.
    i think it is an ordinary problem here , but i just can solve it for i tried several times...here is main the error log below:
    # A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:
    # SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0x00007f35050fcdda, pid=4191, tid=139865686824704
    # JRE version: 6.0_37-b06
    # Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (20.12-b01 mixed mode linux-amd64 compressed oops)
    # Problematic frame:
    # V [libjvm.so+0x4badda] instanceKlass::method_with_idnum(int)+0x2a
    i know it's something wrong with the frame , maybe solved by manual the eclipse.ini, but how?

  • A pop up window saying Java Runtime Environment keeps coming up. How do I get rid of it?

    How do i get rid of a pop up window that asks me to run Java Runtime Environment?

    If you're referring to a Mac and not an iPad, then most likely, you have a web plugin that depends on the Java runtime distributed by Apple, such as the Facebook video calling plugin or the "NexDef" plugin for watching baseball streams. If you no longer need the plugin, remove it, including its automatic update mechanism (if any) according to the developer's instructions. Otherwise, install Java.

  • How do I set the classpath in runtime?

    How can i set the classpath in runtime?
    Im downloading my image files in the folder C:/Downloads
    I want to set this C:/Downloads as my classpath.
    I don want to set it at the initial stage, bcoz I may have to change the downloading directory D:/Selva.
    I want to access my */utils/New.gif* image available in the downloading directory by using getResource() method.

    java.net.URL urldir= new java.net.URL("file://C:/Downloads/");
    java.net.URL[] urlarr= new java.net.URL[1];
    urlarr[0]=urldir;
    java.net.URLClassLoader urlcl= new java.net.URLClassLoader(urlarr); +// Here I get the Error+
    url=urlcl.getResource("/lrp/utils/New.gif");

    How would you capture the stdout of Runtime.getRuntime().exec())?
    Say you wanted to execute PKZIP25.exe from java using Runtime.getRuntime().exec(). How would you capture the output of PKZIP25 (the console IO) in a file so you could check the results?
    Thanks
    Bill Blalock

    Thanks.
    Could you explain a little more?
    The program I am calling seems to be executing, as far as Java is concerned, but nothing happens. I imagine I have made mistakes in calling it but can't see the output to the console.
    Should I use Runtime.getRuntime().exec() or Runtime.exec() for something like this?
    I appreciate the help!
