  • How do i transfer ipad backup to another computer

I'm having a new Mac soon to replace the current windows computer now. I have been syncing my iPad with this computer and wonder if I can transfer my iPad Backup to the new Mac so I can sync my ipad with it. Anyone has an idea?

This article is pretty easy to follow and contains the steps needed to transfer your iPad content to the new computer.

If you want to just transfer the iPad backup to new computer here is where it is located.
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

  • How do I download my music onto another computer, when I no longer have the music on another computer, ipod, or any other storage device?

Just as it says: How can I download music again that I have already bought and downloaded once on another computer?
I no longer have the music on another computer (I no longer have the original computer) and the only other place I put the music was my Ipod that I lost. (Im sure its somewhere in my house, but can't seem to find it)

Whether you can re-download your past music purchases will depend upon what country that you are in. On the iTunes store home page on your computer there should be a Puchased option under Quick Links on the right-hand side of it - go into that and see if music is an option for re-downloading

  • How do I transfer my library to another computer

I have a new laptop and want to move my library over to the new laptop.  How can I do that?

    Hello Jeff,
Congratulations on your new laptop!  The article below outlines several methods to transfer your music from your previous computer to your new computer.
Home Sharing is the easiest way to transfer your music from one computer to another, but I recommend reviewing the options available in the table to decide which method would work best for you:
The following table compares the methods to move music from your old computer to your new computer.
    Method
    Considerations
    Home Sharing
The easiest option, as long as your new computer is already connected to the Internet.
    External drive
Requires additional hardware but backs up your iTunes library.
    Transferring purchases
Fastest, but only moves the content you purchased from the iTunes Store. Also requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod with the content on it.
    Windows Migration Assistant
Works best for migrating from an old PC to a new Mac, and transfers more than iTunes.
You can find the steps for each of these methods in the following article:

  • How do i transfer my edits to another computer

i have transferred my music by copying and pasting the entire itunes folder onto the hard drive of another computer and importing it into itunes there
how do i transfer the edits in comments and groupings, playlists, ratings, etc
or is there another way to pick up all the songs and tranfer them with edits ?

First, when you say "Store" you mean the "Store" option on the menu bar not the iTunes Store in the source menu. And if you want to transfer music from computer to computer its harder than just authorising the new computer. You have to transfer the files manually. I do hope you have an external HDD or a FireWire 400 cable (if you have two Macs). Basically copy and paste the iTunes folder (not the iTunes Music folder) onto the external HDD and from the HDD to the other computer. If its a Mac make sure that its in the Music folder. Open iTunes with the option key down and click Choose Library. Navigate to the Music folder and select the iTunes folder.

  • How do i transfer itunes library to another computer

Have an ipod 06 era, trying to transfer music to another pc, and create a library for it in the itunes account on that pc. Any tips?

Not totally clear if you have a current PC with an existing library, or want to extract from your iPod.
    Migrate library:
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Recover media:
See this post for options on moving your iPod data back to your computer.

  • I have an iPhoto event on my computer that I have photo-edited, named, key-worded, and place and dated. How to I transfer that event to another computer in a way that includes ALL the information?

I have iPhoto '09, version 8.1.2. I have an event in the Library whose photos have all been edited, faces named, keywords added, and place and dated. How do I transfer the event intact (with ALL the editing, names, dates, places, etc) to another computer? Exporting does not include all the information (no dates or face names), nor does burning a DVD (it shows the location pinned on the map, but doesn't write out the name of the place).

    File -> Export:
    Kind: Jpeg
    Check the boxes at Include...
This will get everything you mention except the Faces data. There is no way to share that on any system.
Note that this information including the dates is written to the IPTC and Exif metadata. So you'll need an app that understands these things as the Finder doesn't - a Photo app for insstance.
There are two kinds of metadata involved when you consider  jpeg or other image file.
One is the file data. This is what the Finder shows. This tells you nothing about the contents of the file, just the File itself.
The problem with File metadata is that it can easily change as the file is moved from place to place or exported, e-mailed, uploaded etc.
Photographs have also got both Exif and IPTC metadata. The date and time that your camera snapped the Photograph is recorded in the Exif metadata. Regardless if what the file date says, this is the actual time recorded by the camera.
Photo applications like iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa, Photoshop etc get their date and time from the Exif metadata.
When you export from iPhoto to the Finder new file is created containing your Photo (and its Exif). The File date is - quite accurately - reported as the date of Export. However, the Photo Date doesn't change.
The problem is that the Finder doesn't work with Exif.
So, your photo has the correct date, and so does the file, but they are different things. To sort on the Photo date you'll need to use a photo app.

  • How do I transfer iPod tunes to another computer?

    Hello,
I got my bf an iPod for Christmas and while we were at home he installed his iTunes on his parents computer and downloaded a sizeable amount of music.
Since we got back, however, he is unable to access any of that music using my computer, which already had iTunes on it. I got my iPod in May, and his is a brand new 60G video version. He reinstalled the software that came with his, just as he did at home, except all of the songs that he bought there are stuck in the iPod. Whenever he plugs it in, the music on his iPod that he downloaded at home does not show up on his iTunes account on my computer.
What gives? Any suggestions on what he can to to access the songs he already paid for?
Also, we are not on a network or server that shares, such as in a college setting. I don't know if that matters...

    Kace,
These links will give you several methods of recovering whatever songs remain on your iPod; some free, some third-party software, some more comprehensive for restoring Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, etc. Read them and their associated links before deciding on a strategy that works for you. There are many various third-party software programs that will offer a more robust process, or an easier GUI. Do a Google search for them if the links below leave you wanting…
Don King Resurrected: Deleted files from hard drive (free user steps – music recovery only)
MacMuse: Computer Crashed (free user steps – music recovery only)
Copying music from iPod to computer (a primer on various methods and software)
Copying Songs from Your iPod to a Mac or PC (resource for 3rd party software)
    iPodRip Software
    PodUtil Software
Senuti (Mac OS X v10.3 or higher Recovery Utility)
XPlay (Software For Music Recovery &/or Cross-Platform Functionality)
XPlay Photo Browser (For recovering Photos)
    Extremely Simple Method:
    1 - Open iTunes
    2 - Edit=>Preferences=>’Advanced/General’ tab
2a --- ‘Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library’: checked
2b --- ‘Keep iTunes Music folder organized’: checked
    2c --- Click OK
3 - Attach your iPod to the PC and hold down the ‘Shift+Ctrl’ keys until the iPod is fully recognized (this will defeat the auto-sync process)
4 - If you get a dialog box to link the Library, decline this option
    5 - File=>Add Folder
6 - Browse to and open ‘My Computer’ and select the iPod
    7 - Click OK
8 - The music files should start to transfer back into iTunes
No Playlists, or Ratings, Last Played, and Play Count attributes will be preserved
After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation (and many other potential disasters).
You need at least two full sets of your music, not including what is on the iPod:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and only one other medium is not considered having any backup.
If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer’s internal HD, then create and maintain at least two external sets (any multiple combinations of ExHDs, DVDs, CDs).
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?
Here is a post on developing a thorough backup strategy: http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=394618&messageID=1263275

  • How do I transfer my iTune to another computer?

Usually for Apple products, it can only sync to one library at a time. If you tried to sync it to another library, it would only allow you if you erase all the contents on your item (iPhone in my case) to replace it with the contents on the other iTunes. I got a new laptop today and I wanted to let my Phone sync with my laptop instead, or even both is better. How can I sync my iPhone with my laptop and not let it delete everything on my phone?

A simple search of the Apple site of forums would have answered the question, without another post about the same issue.
Type "move itunes library" into the search bar or your favorite search engine.

  • Photos library on one computer music on another computer cant sync both .

Ok I got my photo library on one computer with itunes registered to me. I have my video and music and ringtones on another computer with itunes registered to me. I want the ringtones and video from one computer on my iphone but I have to erase my photo library.
I am NOT GOING TO MOVE MY PHOTO LIBRARY TO AN OTHER COMPUTER just so the iPhone can access MY FILES.
    What can i do.

really, despite what you don't want to do, Transferring all of your photos from one library to another isn't that hard:
    1. Insert a blank CD or DVD depending on how many photos you have.
    2. Select all of the photos in you iPhoto library and drag them to the CD/DVD. Burn it.
    3. Insert the CD/DVD into the computer with the music.
    4. Open iPhoto, open the CD/DVD. Select all of the photos on the CD/DVD. Drag them to your iPhoto library.
    5. And your done...depending on how many photos you have the import will only take anywhere from 5 minutes to half an hour...so whats the big deal?
    Hope this helps!
