How do it force a user to enter a time in a date time field??

I am new to live cycle, not to acrobat pro. I must say live cycle is pretty cool and i may just switch to live cycle forever...
But i can not figure this out. I have a HR form. I need to make the time of occurence field, required, validate and wont let you move on until you enter a time.
Right now it functions as required, it shows a custom message, but the user can enter garbage text and skip through. How do i set up this field where the user can only enter a time and not skip through??
I am sure this is rather easy, i just dont know where to start.. Thanks in Advance

Hi Paul:
That completely makes sense... Only problem what would or could the javascript be??
I have already inserted some for the save as and print buttons sucessfully
BTW in my form the time/date field is selected and to format to show time only. In my other date fields is does show a calendar after you hit the little arrow and the user can still insert garbage.
What i would ultimately want is for the user not to insert garbage and forcing them to insert a time in the time field.
It is possible that i forgot or missed a step being as im new to Live Cycle.

  • How to force the user to enter a value in the prompt

    Is there a way to force the user to enter a value in the prompt before they run the report?
    We have a customer specific dashbaord. The user has to enter a customer number in Dashbaord prompt on a first page of the dashboard. We store that value in a presentation variable. That presenatation variable value is being referenced in all the other pages of the dashabord. If the user does not enter a values in the first page and directly navigates to the other pages on the dashbaord, the reports on the other pages start to run for all the customers. Is there a way to force the customer to enter a value in the prompt before running any of the reports on the dashboard?
    Thanks!

    by Answer prompts, do you mean Column prompt?
    I can not use Column prompt in this senario as the user should not have to enter the same customer number over and over again when he navigates from one page to another on the same dashboards. If there is a way to default the column prompts then this would be an acceptable solution.
    I have already defaulted the prompt to a value as suggested in hte blog, but the issues occurs when the user erases the defaulted value. Is there are way to set the default value within the report?
    Can you please explaing mroe about option 3 regarding Java Script. Also please let me know what other options there are so that I can check whether they will fit my needs.

  • How to restrict the user to enter only numeric values in a input field

    How to restrict the user to enter only numeric values in a input field.
    For example,
    i have an input field in that i would like to enter
    only numeric values. no special characters,alphabets .
    reply ASAP

    Hi Venuthurupalli,
    As valery has said once you select the value to be of type integer,once you perform an action it will be validated and error message that non numeric characters are there will be shown. If you want to set additional constraints like max value, min value etc you can use simple types for it.
    On the project structure on left hand side under local dictionary ->datatypes->simple types create a simple type of type integer
    The attribute which you are binding to value property ;make its type as simple type which you made
    Hope this helps you

  • Force a user to enter a value for a parameter.

    Hi,
    I have a report with a bunch of parameters and I want to force the user to enter values for two parameters amongst all of them. Like for example when the user doesn't select values for those 2 parameters he should get a dialog box saying "please enter value for xyz parameter" or something like that, which will force the user to enter a value for the parameters before he can see the report.
    Please let me know if BI Publisher can do this.
    Thanks,
    DY

    Thanks for your replies BIPUser. I have recently started working on BI Publisher without a lot of help around.
    The information in the link is what I was thinking of, if there is no such feature I'll have a default value for those 2 parameters.
    Thanks,

  • How can we prevent a user from entering a value in Parameter Field?

    how can we prevent a user from entering a value in Parameter Field and Select-options Field?

    make it invisible, make it inactive, make it display only.
    if the field is not there or not to be seen the user WILL have problems inputting data.
    BUT once the field is there you can NOT prevent that the user fills it with data.
    all you can do is on PAI check if the data the user inputted was good or bad, and clear his inputs, but you can NOT prevent him inputting something.

  • How do I prompt a user to enter numeric data while a vi is running?

    I am writing a Labview vi that to calibrate angle sensors. I need to prompt the user to enter numeric or string data for the low and high angle points so the vi can then calculate the span based on these values and the a/d output differences at these two points. I can't use preset points because the angle data is resolute to 0.1 degrees, and having the user raise or lower a boom to a predefined point is not within reasonable expectation. I would be much obliged for any help that is offered.

    Build a subVI that has two numeric controls for the user to input the data (name them something appropriate like "High Angle" and "Low Angle").
    Add and "Enter" button to the front panel.
    Set the subVI preferences to include Open Front Panel When Called and Close Afterwards if Originally Closed. these are in Windows Appearance, Customize.
    Put a delay (say 50 ms) and a while loop on the block diagram to wait until someone presses the button.
    Connect your front panel controls to outputs on the connector pane.
    This will pop up a dialog type of window when you need the user to input data. And make the dialog window disappear when done. You can also add valid data checking to the subVI and whatever else you need.

  • How can I download multiple apps without entering my Apple ID every single time?

    How can I download multiple songs or apps without entering my Apple ID every single time?

    It took me a moment to remember where this was!
    1. Open the iTunes app on your Mac and Sign out of your account (Store menu.)
    2. Without signing back in go to the iTunes App Store and buy a free app that you already have*.
    3. A dialog box will pop up for you to sign into your account. When signing in, be sure to tick the box that says Remember password.
    * You can choose any app that you wish, choosing one that you already have keeps you from buying any old app that you may not want.

  • How to see, if some user has done multiple login at the same time

    Hi,
    i'm looking for a tcode to see, if some user has done multiple login in a date-range.
    Regards, Dieter

    It is also dependent on your license type, as it is populated at logon - prior to any Z-coding option - which will cause a lockout if attempted an access that way.
    I recently found a cool way to detect DB triggers and updates - very obscure...
    However I also "move around" during support in projects and don't always want to kick myself out. I guess SAP can "work-it-out" from the various fields of the table to map the user behaviour.
    Personally I dont believe that all of such information is appropriate for public domain, as all the SAP_ALLers out there combined with the types of authentication options are not always responsible with the information either.
    Thankfully, SAP has added a "salt" to the password hashes now. They offer RZ11 login/password_downwards_compatibility as a workaround...
    Take a look in your system!
    Cheers,

  • How to force the users should enter records in detail block.

    Hi members,
    we have a master-detail form. ex like DEPT (master), EMP(detaisl multi record). after entering new dept, i want the users shoudl not leave with out EMP entries for that new dept. how can we achieve this.

    In Pre-insert trigger of Master block just check if there are any records in the detail block before commiting the record. If not found then Raise A Excepiton.

  • How to stop user from entering value for already existing data

    Hi ,
    We have a situation , where we need to give user a template for entering the data and then send it to the database. But we want that if user has already entered the value for a combination, then he should not be allowed to select the same combination again in that template.
    In other words , there should be write access but not update access.
    So I have two questions related to it:
    1. How to build report with giving user , the drop-down list of available members under each dimensions. (I know that we can provide list by writing all of them in excel and then using those values in drop-down)
    2. How to restrict the user for selecting the combination which has already been selected.
    Need your suggestion
    Thanks
    Sanjay

    Hi Sanjay,
    for your first question...
    you can build an EVDRE in a hidden area/sheet to display all values of a desired dimension in rows. Set Option SuppressDataCol to 'Y'. Also maintain MemberSet options to display only the values you need.
    Now you can reference your DD-box to the key- or description range.
    With some VBA-code you can refresh this EVDRE on Workbook_Open and also set the range (attribute ListFillRange?) of you DD-box dynamically to the RowKeyRange.
    Hope, it helps.
    Regards
    Steve

  • Forcing a User to enter Data

    I have a Designer 7 form where every field must be filled and the user must not go on to the next field until the current one is completed.
    In Designer 5 the following 'OnExit' script would always set focus to the required field no matter what the user tried to do.
    // Ensure that a Surveyor Name is entered.
    if (SURVEYOR_NAME.Value == "")
    {Form.MsgBox(0, "You must choose a (surveyor) 'Name'","Missing Information");
    Form.GoToField(SURVEYOR_NAME, 1);}
    In Designer 7 selecting the 'Value / Type / User Entered - Required' only produces a one-off message that the user can ignore. As a result I've tried using 'exit' script along the lines of:
    // Ensure that an Action is entered.
    if (Action1.rawValue == null)
    {xfa.host.messageBox("Please select an appropriate action from the list provided.","Missing Information 1",0);
    xfa.host.setFocus("Action1");}
    Although this script will work when there is just one field on the form, when there several fields (all with similar script) the focus does not remain on the appropriate field. As this must be common requirement I'm sure that there is a simple solution out there somewhere - any help would be much appreciated.

    what i recommend is using the key word 'this' to refer to the field it self.
    so you'd have this to check if field == null then keep focus
    this would go on the exit event.
    if (this.rawValue==null)
    xfa.host.messageBox("Please enter partner name!");
    xfa.host.setFocus("this");
    never had a problem with however many fields i have on page.

  • How do i prevent the user from entering a RETURN/ENTER key into their username?

    Hello,
    i am currently trying to make a login system where the
    username will obviously enter their username.
    I have made my user input box editable and set up variables
    to accept the user input and store them into variables, along with
    error prevention for blank fields.
    However i cannot prevent the user from hitting the
    "enter"/"return" key. When i hit "enter" the user input box box
    gets larger as the type curser moves onto the next line and when
    the username is stored in a variable it is stored as "theuser
    RETURN" so when variable is passed to the next frame and is
    recalled by another text box to display the username, the user name
    has a carriage return.
    I want to prevent this, anyone got any suggestions? or know
    of any websites i can visit which will explain this to me nicely??
    Thank you

    suggestion:
    don't make the edit field editable right from the start.
    rather attach a behaviour to the field/text-sprite like:
    property mySprite, myMember
    on beginsprite me
    Sprite = me.spritenum
    -- this is the channel-number of the editbox
    myMember = mySprite.member.number
    -- this is the field/text-member
    member(myMember).editable = FALSE
    end beginsprite
    on mouseup me
    -- when i get clicked for editing, then set me editable
    member(mymember).editable = TRUE
    the keydownscript = "MyKeyhandler"
    -- this sets the keyhandler to YOUR keyhandler, see below
    end mouseup
    You would then need to have YOUR keyhandler in any mociesript
    and there you
    would block any unwished key, while editing
    on MyKeyhandler
    case the key of
    RETURN:
    stopevent;
    otherwise
    pass;
    end case
    end MyKeyhandler
    in the end you would attach a behaviour to any
    "Submit"-button (this is the
    one that "gets" the userinput" and performs further action
    according to your
    wishes and decisions)
    on mouseup
    the keydownscript = EMPTY
    -- this resets to normal
    user-ID = member("Whatever the number or name of your
    editfield
    is").text
    member("Whatever the number or name of your editfield
    is").editable
    = FALSE
    -- any further actions to make in your project
    -- to get along with the entered User-ID
    end mouseup
    something like this, I guess

  • How do I prompt a user to enter in a string name and set it so it can be used as an input for a DLL

    I was having problems entering in a string name and setting it. Any suggestions.

    Entering the string is easy. Just use a string control.
    To setup the Call Library Function, right click on it and select Configure. Type in the path to the DLL (or use the Browse function) and then use the Function Name dropdown box to select the function within the DLL. From here, you have to setup the parameters. The return type parameter should already be selected in the Parameter drop down box, so click on the Type drop down box and select the type of parameter that the selected function will return. From there, click on the Add Parameter After button to add an input parameter and then select the type of parameter. Continue doing this for all of the input parameters to the DLL. For strings you'll see a new drop down box appear for String Format. Choose the
    format that the DLL expects.
    You need to know what the DLL is looking for. Have fun with it.
