How do the Entity Bean in SUN J2EE1.3 Connect to Oracle Database9i

I can connect to Database in my applications with codes:
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(
"jdbc:oracle:thin:@172.28.200.43:1521:s
hcd",
"system", "manager");
Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
But I can not connect to DB in my EJB, I have config J2EE1.3
Server and my EJB
1.in EJB,the code is:
InitialContext ic = new InitialContext();
DataSource ds = (DataSource) ic.lookup(dbName);
con = ds.getConnection();
2.When I assemble the EJB, I set Resource Refs for JNDI and fill
user name, password
3. modify the config/resource.propertities
jdbcDataSource.5.name=jdbc/ora/test
jdbcDataSource.5.url=jdbc:oracle:thin:@172.28.200.43:1521:shcd;cr
eate=true
when I use cloudscape, it runs OK(with JNDI jdbc/Cloudscape),
but after i change to use Oracle , the EJB return a Exception:

Hi,
Just run the db_setup.sh script located in the bin directory of ias
If you just give the Oracle Home directory the libraries will be found.
Register a Datasource pointing to the service you defined in tnsnames.ora

Could anybody help me with it?

  • How to Enter the existing data  in the entity beans?

    hello
    my problem is as follows--
    i am creating a CMP entity bean.in these beans client create the data instances using create() function.
    now a entity bean will be created for the newly created data and it's EJBObject will also be formed.
    now we will be able to perform finder methods over them.
    remember these data has been newly created in the database.
    but now if i want to perform the finder methods on the
    existing data in the database( i don't need to use create() fn as i am not "creating" the data.). how will i perform the query over the existing data.
    basically i have to make a CMP bean to extract the data corresponding to a particular condition , from the database table. i don't want to create the data in the database but just find out what data satisfies my condition.
    thanking you
    Prashant

    All I say here is based on limited knowledge on 1.1 ejb specification. There could be improvements on 2.0 spec. 1.1 specification does not formaly provide how the finders should work for container managed beans. It leaves it at the hand of bean providers. Currently bean providers describes the finers in a description of the Entity Bean. Refer to documentation accompanied with application server you are using.
    I attach the famous bank account example in weblogic server.

  • Is it possible to map the cmp fields of the entity bean with out dictionary

    Dear sirs,
    I have created the EJB project module and WEB Module. Now i have to map the CMP fields of the entity bean to the underlying table. Is it possible to map the cmp fields of the entity bean with out java dictionary? If yes how can we do that.
    I have got some error while mapping an EJB's CMP fields to the table through dictionary. I was actually intended to map 79 fields but it gives an error that more than 64 fields are not allowed while building the dictionary.
    1. Can you tell me what could be the possible reason?

    Hi,
    Sudheesh please check up if the below link helps,there are other ways of writing the persistent.xml for container managed entity bean.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/9b/f695f0c84acf46a4e0b31f69d8a9b7/frameset.htm, probably in the studio you cannot browse through tables not in  the java dictionary,but manually editing it may still solve the problem.
    Also here is another link that specifies the databases supported by J2EE Engine.

  • How to achieve Entity Bean methods ONLY by calling them from a Session Bean

    Hi,
    I used a session bean as a business facade to a entity bean.
    In the session bean I achieve the entity bean with a jndiContext.lookup("java:comp/env/ejbEntityBean").
    Now I am looking for a solution that it is only possible to call the entity bean methods or the whole entity bean from the corresponding session bean.
    In other words: "How can I forbid the access to the entity bean, if the calling object is not the corresponding session bean?"
    --->
    I only found a way the regulate the access to the entity bean methods by declaring a security-role.
    But the existence of the security-role at runtime depends on the calling user-authorizations!
    Is there a way to set the entity-security-role within the session bean context?
    Best Regards
    Steffen

    Hi Srikanth Reddy.T,
    sorry, I am not looking for a special tag  <entity-security-role>.
    I am looking for a way to specifiy that my session bean "has" the special security-role (in my case "WebZaehlerEjbRole") of my entity bean "in my case "WebZaehlerEjbRole") that is necessary to call the methods (findAlleEntries, findByWindowId,...) of my entity-bean.
    Here is the relevant part of my ejb-jar.ml:
         <assembly-descriptor>
              <security-role>
                   <role-name>WebZaehlerEjbRole</role-name>
              </security-role>
              <method-permission>
                   <description>method-permission</description>
                   <role-name>WebZaehlerEjbRole</role-name>
                   <method>
                        <ejb-name>WebZaehlerBean</ejb-name>
                        <method-name>findAllEntries</method-name>
                        <method-params/>
                   </method>
                   <method>
                        <ejb-name>WebZaehlerBean</ejb-name>
                        <method-name>findByWindowId</method-name>
                        <method-params>

    I can not fine the Entity Bean's advantage than Java
    Bean,
    can you tell me, thanks a lot?I think you should read more of the EJB Spec. You'll find your answer there. But mainly with entities you can have the container manage all the lifecyle of the Bean (transactions, caching, creation, etc...). But entities are not only to map columns in the database, they are supposed to have business code. See more by reading the spec.

    and after all:
    wcu-015: your form must contain the following bean for this function to be

    are you certain, 100% positive, and absolutely sure you have a bean item with above implementation class in your form? I'd double check that...
    JInit and IE8? I am not 100% sure, but I am almost certain that this combination didn't work at all. And please don't tell us you used that stupid hack where you replace the jvm.dll of JInit with one of a current JPI installation.
    The Oracle Versions you have in place are rather ancient as well, you really should think about upgrading your database and your forms installation. As you already are on webforms moving to the current version of forms shouldn't require much changes in your forms.
    cheers

  • What's the best approach for handeling about 1300 connections in Oracle.

    What's the best approach for handling about 1300 connections in Oracle 9i/10g through a Java application?
    1.Using separate schema s for various type users(We can store only relevant data with a particular schema.     Then No. of records per table can be reduced by replicating tables but we have to maintain all data with a another schema     Then we need update two schema s for a given session.Because we maintain separate scheama for a one user and another schema for all data and then there may be Updating problems)
    OR
    2. Using single schema for all users.
    Note: All users may access the same tables and there may be lot of records than previous case.
    What is the Best case.

    * You define the name of the table that an Entity EJB maps to in orion-ejb-jar.xml. For eg:<entity-deployment name="MyEntityEJB" data-source="MyDS" table="MY_DB_TABLE" ...>* If you don't want to let Orion create the tables for your EJBs, have the following entry in either of the files given below:<orion-application autocreate-tables="false" ...>1) <orion-home>/j2ee/home/config/application.xml (global effect)
    2) orion-application.xml file of that particular application (application specific)

  • Can I deploy the entity bean in different jar files?

    I have an application EAR, which contains several JARs. I have an entity bean A that has relationships with 2 other different entity beans B and C in the same DB. Now, I have to deploy this entity A together with B in AB.jar, and A with C in AC.jar. Both AB.jar and AC.jar are modules of the same application EAR file. They all use the same data sources to the same database, and named by different <ejb-name>.
    I have no problem with deploying the app to WebLogic 8.1. But the JSP page accessing entity A got errors. Sometime, it got error complaining that the container-generated ejbFindAccount mehtod is abstract.
    My questions are,
    Can an entity bean be defined twice in 2 different jars?
    When container load AB.jar and AC.jar, does it generate the finder methods twice?
    I guess there are some name conflicts going on here. What should I do to avoid it?
    Any comments are very much appreciated.

    I remember getting errors like that. The only thing I see is in the map file. When I
    did mine I used TABLENAME.CMPFIELD to map columns to CMP attributes.
    TSE_MSG_T.INDATE
    TSE_MSG_T.SNDSEQ
    for column names in the sun-cmp-mappings.xml file.
    For any other errors set the logging for server1 or which one you are using to "finest".
    Try the deploy, shut down the server, and when you view the log, start at the bottom
    and keep scrolling up to the top of each stack trace and you should get a more
    specific error explanation at about the 3rd or 4th stack trace.

  • How to create Entity Bean (CMP) using JDeveloper & Weblogic

    Hi,
    Using : JDeveloper9i (9.0.2.829)
    When i am inside the EJB Wizard (Step 1 of 3), the input field 'CMP Provider' shows only Oracle9iAS CMP Provider.
    How should i make my entity take 'Weblogic' as CMP provider for my beans using JDeveloper. I have my tables in Oracle personal db. I was able to succesfuly add a Weblogic/Db connection under respective connections node.
    Should i need to do something more so that i am given an option of choosing Weblogic as CMP provider.
    thanks for the advance help

    Currently there is no specific option for WebLogic CMP provider.
    You need to manually add the WebLogic CMP deployment descriptor to the project containing
    EJB Entity beans and deploy to WebLogic.
